You're all just succeeding in making yourselves look immature in the eyes of the world. Believe it or not, there are people who read these forums occasionally who have an influence on where 2007 worlds will take place, and people who read this forum who will also be attempting to hold the 2007. You're doing yourselves no favours by bickering in the manner that you are. At least if you kept it private people wouldn't see it and if you got things under control you'd still have a chance of holding the 2007 worlds.
PLEASE HELP ME (Settled, Thanks :-) )
You guys are right, it's just hard to keep quiet when things are being said that affect you and you feel strongly about.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Nobody said keep quite! Everybody said pick up the phone and stop being quite! I mean, all of you want the forum to back you up, you want us all to know so you can sway our opinions, but really it has nothing to do with us, this should be delt with privately.
Oh, there most likely won't be any quietness happening when we talk.

You guys really don't know where your coming from now, and I asked you to help, not antagonize...
First of all, thats BS steve... I've taken philosophy 101 and 102 (and 101 is a review of all of western philosophy), read countless books and have a whole philosophy bookshelf at my house, of which I assimilate the common truths rather than listening to any random guy and cross reference it with experiential knowledge, and have spent more than 1000 hours sitting and talking with philosophy professors and wise people (I used to go to my professor and hour before class every week and talk about random stuff, plus staying after for roughly 5 minutes to comment further on things touched on in class, not to mention time out in front of Einstein Bagels.... Aside from that, I was brought up Jewish through my Bar mitzvah, spent years as an aethiest, have spent time at a buddist temple talking with people, had Keaton Haley (BEHEMOTH... a devout christian and practically a theologican) send me his whole entire belief system so that we could discuss it [which is far over 20 pages of stuff I still have] before any of these people joined the club), read books I know I disagree with the author of just to see and try to understand, and meditate more than an hour daily (used to be more than 3 hours) questing for my own knowledge, from which I have found more than any book can share. AND, after the smartest person I've ever met (who is the 102 professor) has been teaching for 12 years and has had every single student redo a certain assignment because he believed no one could get it right on the first try, I got a 98% on it and broke the tradition, when I believe no one else got more than a 70% on the first try. I became a philosophy major because I found everything that I've been doing and telling people in my life WRITTEN ABOUT SOCRATES...
And you guys KEEP ON TALKING like you know what your talking about, just like Steve did just there, without considering the WHOLE PICTURE, and that is the problem...a philosopher considers the whole picture and never makes final decisions and always leaves room for change. That being said, I am only sticking to the spot permanently for the fact that there are more than 30 people I can't get a hold of that may show up there at any time, and I don't want them to think we we're bsing about having a strong club, plus I didn't make the spot, commuted for 3 years (which is longer than any of the complaining locals have been playing), and it needs to be central and in public, not secluded of in BFE.
I was a philosopher LONG before I studied it, ask anyone who's known me since early high school. I have always been the person people come to with there problems, and I have always been looked at as smart in a different way. AND I'M TIRED OF DEFENDING MYSELF! Brad called me on it and he's totally right, I'm not being true to what I know and believe in propagating this discussion...BUT ALL I'M TRYING TO DO IS SHOW YOU GUYS WHERE I'M COMING FROM SO YOU'LL LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE AND STOP BEING SO SUBJECTIVE! IT IS THE BIGGEST FALLACY OF THOUGHT IN OUR WORLD AND CAUSES ALL THE PROBLEMS! ALL RELIGIONS PRETTY MUCH SAY THE SAME THING AT THEIR CORE BUT THEY GO KILL EACH OTHER BECAUSE THEY THINK THEY'RE DIFFERENT AND DON'T BOTHER TO RESEARCH THE OTHER ONE! THEY'RE TO BUSY 'MAKING FINAL DECISIONS BEFORE THEY EVER HEARD THE OTHER SIDE' TO NOTICE THEY'RE ALL ON THE SAME SIDE! That is CLOSED MINDED SUBJECTIVITY, AND IT WILL destroy our world if we don't stop it and get people to start thinking...which is all I ever try to do.
I have laid out all the reasons and facts relating to why I won't let the spot move, why I feel I should take the lead, and in regard to my overall loud reaction to this whole thing and the few things people have said about footbag supposing to be FUN, I'VE ONLY MADE THIS HUGE BIG DEAL BECAUSE EVERYONE HAS HAD MORE FUN ON SATURDAY FOR THE PAST 5 MONTHS THAN ANY OTHER DAY OF THE WEEK, until roughly two weeks ago. AND, that is only because we have SO MANY PEOPLE MEETING TOGETHER IN THE BEAUTIFUL ARBORITUM OF UNLV, ALL INCREASING IN SKILL AT UNPRECEDENTED PACES (Jeff has learned atom smasher in 4 months! when it took me 2.5 YEARS...and who's main trick is that? Oh yeah, mine...I do it every run...I wonder how he learned it so fast
) and I feel totally justified in flipping out to maintain all of our happiness and growth, especially when it is something I've worked so harder than anything else on in my life to build.
I will defend myself no more. If I know that people have read this post and make further personal attacks on my reasoning or reasons for sticking to the spot, I will sadly have to pull a Windsor (and I mean that in the new sense, not the classic one), and leave this crap behind, abandoning a good portion of my dreams, and there will be no Worlds in Vegas (for no one else here could set it up for none of them have been to a single event of any kind or played any serious net, unless Evan or Mike are up to the task..and I doubt that since Mike hung up on me when I called to tell him about holding worlds here and hasn't called me back.)
I really hope tomorrow is successful...I'd hate to be missing playing with my FRIENDS AND TEACHERS in Portland tomorrow for no reason.
Peace, (lets pray)
Loren

I DID NOT SAY THAT SHIT! I said "in charge", and even that was a bad substitute for the whole description. A prime minister is not a dictator! DON'T talk out of your ass and further push negativity! I said read Plato, not make jokes... Jesus did...HenryG wrote:HAHAHAHA no kidding when i first read that he said a "philosopher should be dictator" i thought, but didnt type (i guess im typing it now) that. Hmm... can you just deem yourself a philosopher? Just because you study it doesnt make you one. Silly Lenny.Splint wrote:Just to make a small point. Plato's Philosopher-King would have been Socrates and there have been very few men who have come even close to measuring up since then. Last I knew, none of them were from Las Vegas.

ooh, glad I got back here before anyone else posted...
So, after I got a cool email, I had a certain out of town footbagger call me so that I could get a point of view on how I sound to experienced people OUTSIDE the club if they had all the details, and...things should be different.
I made a post in my blog about this too, so see that too if your involved, but a big
SORRY
for the way I come of.. in terms of ego, arrogant leaderness. I've been so concerned with building a good footbag club since it fell apart a couple years ago that I became overdominant and forgot that other people have other goals, and that everyone doesn't always like having a million people shred session...I find myself so happy when so many people are there and see other people equally happy and don't realize that its just a love of the game, not so much how many people are there or how much they improve...
I lost so many people in the past because they got tired of their own games for various reasons that all I wanted was to make sure the club kept getting bigger and everyone kept getting better as fast as possible...and although I was pretty successful at that, I took myself out of the spirit of the game and let myself get out of control with the fact that I had put that much together...when other people didn't care about those aspects as much as I did...whether or not I made it happen didn't matter cause there was/is more too it than that for everyone...and in repeating my accomplishments in those areas more and more further engrained that I was missing the point.
But I wish someone who KNEW that would have been communicating that rather than just berating me about it or talking about location, if it wasn't really the issue.
Also, a special sorry for the politcal and religious references with Ben... I knew there was more than just the location and I knew that communication had ceased in the past when issues like that came up, so I thought the only way to solve them was to get them out in the open.
I will not be imposing on anyone any more...and if I am...call me on it please...and nicely if you can.
See ya all tomorrow...I'll be there early with the net, and we should be able to finish this and discuss WORLDS
Peace.
