Toe stalls and the such.

Post by Shaun »

Ok,my toe stalls are so so 31 on strongside 21 on flip and 17 alternating. I have been playing with a abshire mini I am wondring should I go back and use a sandbag and make my stalls better,or rework my techquine?(sp)

Rework your technique, changing to a bead bag generally isn't so bad for toe stalls, most people find they need to school their clippers a bit again though.

It will be better for your style in the long run to use the abshire.

I honestly dont know if this should be here, bags and equipment, or getting started. So I will let someone else decide ;)

Zach I got my legovers pretty good, mirages are hell cause I can't get the dex around, still drilling them, still need to shred mroe to work my 2's more. Alright,do you think using a mini over a standard would effect play?

Hmmmm when you begin with toe stalls and basic toe 2 add moves, what bag you have isn't very important in your development. A lot of people start off with a sandbag (like me) and then gradually move on to 32 panels, but its really your choice. I don't think bags matter much. However the diversity or bags like 32 panel bead bags (abshire etc) and other bags are much more important when your game is more developed and you are around close to guiltless or strong tiltless.

Id say if your just starting to learn your mirages and leg overs, try a bag that you fell most confortable with. After all, practice makes perfecT!

Keep shredding.

I really like the feels of 32's,and I am just at the point where I am starting to do 3-5 contact tiltless strings. So do you think an abshire standard would do better as far as stalling goes? Or just keep working with the mini?

Playing with an Abshire standard would be easier IMO in terms of stalling , but not by much.
Its always good to try out different style bags and this will make it easier for you to play well reguardless of what bag awaits you (For example at tournament shreds when you shred with someone elses bag).

To switch to a standard or to keep with a mini is totally up to you. alot of people have different tastes in bags, so your choice bro. I personally think playing with an easier bag is better at the start because your just really trying to learn your basics and not worry much about dexterity and other things. However, playing with a very soft sandman for a long period of time may result in you being lazy. For example just putting your foot in front for a toe delay instead of actually applying proper technique. A sandbag will probably land still, but if you played with a bead bag then probably NO.

if you have the money, then i would recommend getting different bags, but it's entirely up to you to switch which one you play with. When i started i played alot with Sandbags, but these days i play with 32 panels.

Remember, when you first start off your aiming just to get the basics down, and maybe an easier bag to start off with could be better. As you improve and can start to hit like 20 contacts tiltless, maybe you could switch bags.

So, you should get an ABshire standard if you had the money, but otherwise playing with a mini isn't bad at all. I think having multiple bags is good cos i like collecting them :P and also i can play with different style bags whenever i want.

Maybe if you play alot with the mini now, you won't have problems like me switching to 32panel bead bags! So it could be better :D

Keep shredding hard man!

I believe You should be fine with any bag you used.....Abbies are nice when you get into Tiltless and whatnot i think..because well your balance and control is alot better...But hey work those mirages and leg overs and stalls..dont try to speed things up..have fun with it....and stay healthy
