Oh no! I thought credible 14 year-olds nationwide were claiming that we were going to be drafted starting next spring. What will the far left conspiracy theorists have to bitch about now? Although I did hear that Bush is trying to pass legislation to clone dinosaurs to use as the newest WMD!!! Gasp!

You know, the one thing I haven't seen is an intelligent suggestion on how to stop the draft; except maybe from Cameron.

Here's a good one.
Anyone eligible to be drafted is also eligible to vote. Eligible voters, especially young ones, who actually VOTE are are on the Democratic Party's prize list for the upcoming elections. Not to mention the Liberal Republicans (if there is such a thing).

What does this mean? It means that if you are really interested in affecting your future then you need to start acting like it. Everyone's talking about running away before the real fight has even begun.

Despite what you might think, your vote counts and while you don't realize it the politicians DO. So if you actually want to take part in your liberty start writing INTELLIGENT letters to all of your local, state, and government officials. When I say "intelligent" I don't mean sending an e-mail that says "The draft is whack and if it gets reinstated I'm running to Canada". I mean do a half hour of research and organize your thoughts as to why you think the draft is wrong. Then have as many of your REGISTERED voting friends and strangers (male and female) sign your letter and mail it off to everywhere you can possibly find. Send it to local, state, and federal politicians (senators and congressmen if nothing else), newspapers, TV, hang it at school, tag them on peoples cars or whatever other creative ideas you can come up with.
Shit, at the very least join www.moveon.org or one of the many other sites out there who probably have letters available for you to add your name.

The worst part is that your congressmen and senators are sitting in their offices telling you that there is no intention to instate a draft AND THEY ARE LYING TO YOU TO KEEP YOU QUIET. In the mean time you are doing nothing about it and before you know it they will have the agenda before them and will vote on it and Uncle Sam will be pointing his finger at your lazy drafted ass.

Michael Moore is wanted for arrest , by the michigan republican party , in several michigan counties, for recruiting slackers to vote using the ubber powerful "free ramen noodle or 3 pack of tighty whities". How much credibility can you place in a leader who can have his own population turn on him for some ramen noodle. (Tostitos, providing a clean package of underwear or a package of Ramen noodles all are included in the definition of term `Valuable consideration' under Section 931. Seriously.
When Clinton was running against bob dole, do you think ramen noodles would have prevented a second term ???

The facts seems to be that we don't have enough troops and reserves to deal with an attack on the homeland because everyone is deployed. A back door draft is already happening. Recruitment goals aren't being met. N. Korea is nuclear. Iran is working on it. Uh, did somebody leave the door open, cuz my ass feels a breeze ? Bush has lied to many times for me to trust his word without taking a moment to analyse the situation.

At least when the draft starts, the soldiers will be going some where free and democratic, unlike vietnam. In Iraq they will be greated with ticker tape parades and flowers. the backdoor draft is that the national guard reserves have to go to Iraq and they cant retire and are being forced to stay longer than they were told.
theres also the poverty draft and the education draft, people have to join the army cause they really got no other otions cause they cant get jobs and cause college costs mad bank. $$

Incase you have problems reading - this is a topic about people being forced into the military. It's not a topic about slandering people you disagree with and it's not a topic about Mike Moore. Moore gets mentioned because of what he believes and the thoughts that he expresses - not because of how rich he is or isn't or how many cars he owns. I don't base my opinion of people on their material wealth and I think most people don't either.

Please if you want to trash talk - make your own topic about it - and keep on posts on this topic about the actual topic being discussed!

Well bonjour! The good news is that even though we hate the French, we'll still draft their asses if they step on US soil. Any foreigner who's lived in the US for more than a year can be drafted (with a very few exceptions).

Sure, the military hates you, and you run a good chance of being beaten to death in your sleep by your fellow soldiers, but that doesn't mean they won't draft you anyway! If Kerry gets elected and if he trys to bring back a draft than the republicans will have him impeached.

if you dont want a draft vote for kerry.
our military is spread out so thin right now it cant go on much longer without a draft and thats for real

McALLEN, Texas — November 15 — It’s taken one year, seven months and 19 days of combat in Iraq for the Lone Star State to lose 100 of its own.

Texas is the second state, after California, to lose 100 service members, according to The Associated Press.

With continuing war in Iraq and U.S. armed forces dispersed to so many other locations around the globe, Americans may be wondering if compulsory military service could begin again for the first time since the Vietnam War era.

The Selective Service System (SSS) and the U.S. Department of Education now are gearing up to compare their computer records, to make sure all men between the ages of 18 and 25 who are required to register for a military draft have done so.

The SSS and the education department will begin comparing their lists on Jan. 1, 2005, according to a memo authored by Jack Martin, acting Selective Service director.

While similar record checks have been done periodically for the past 10 years, Martin’s memo is dated Oct. 28, just a few days before the Nov. 2 presidential election, a hard-fought campaign in which the question of whether the nation might need to reinstate a military draft was raised in debates and on the stump.

It took several more days, until Nov. 4, for the document to reach the Federal Register, the official daily publication for rules and notices of federal agencies and organizations.

The memo was also produced after the U.S. House voted 402-2 on Oct. 5, against House Resolution 163, a bill that would have required all young people, including women, to serve two years of military service.

Under federal law, a military draft cannot be started without congressional support.

About 94 percent of all men are properly registered for a draft, according to Richard Flahavan, associate director of the office of public and intergovernmental affairs for SSS.

my 2 cents on the draft

The only people who should be forced to go into the draft are people who want to live in the country

There is no shame in being a coward, Thats life some of us are fighters some of us hiders its nature were all different and we all look at survival in a different way. I personally could not be drafted but if i could be drafted i would proudly turn tail and run cause iam not a killer iam not that kind of person and i do not believe its my best chance of survival.

No matter who you are or what you are we all have one goal everyday for our whole life and that is to be alive to see the next day. I will take all the pride there is in surviving in any way possible no matter what it makes me look like or no matter what county i have to ilegally live in.

I think if you run from the draft it should be documented that you are an official imigrant and no longer have any rights or citezenship as an american and it should be a permanent ban. Our country feels that being able to draft an army for protection is a requirement for citezenship it should not be a punishment just because you were born in the country.

I really think its unjustice that the goverment can name a person a criminal because they were scared to die?

Now that i have a career i plan on staying with until i have enough experience to apply for a profesional citenzship to canada one day, i dont care about america the country sucks most of its people suck and i just dont care about any of its drama political govermental politics, non of it is for me i want to be wild and crazy party guy for until i get into canada where i plan on setlling down and enjoying hockey night in canada with my door unlocked in my freindly little canadian town.

Thats my dream and if i get drafted to go to war coincidently im a war criminal all of the sudden

Our leaders, in both parties, are paralysed and wholly incapable of protecting us.
