Well, premium cigars:

1) Have less nicotine than cigarettes
2) Do not have any additional chemicals in them (100% tobacco)
3) Are hand rolled by professional hand rollers in many countries across the world
4) Undergo a perfected 7 year process to be made

Most people who smoke premium cigars:
1) Do not draw any smoke into the lungs
2) Are less likely to get lung cancer than cigarette smokers, but can still get throat and mouth cancer
3) Smoke less than the average cigarette smoker
4) Are not addicted to cigars (only 2 percent of the leaf used in cigars has nicotine in it, and as it burns there are no chemicals that keep the nicotine there, therefore cigar smokers draw in MUCH less nicotine than cigarette smokers)
5) Are nice, friendly people who will trade stogies and/or give you new cigars to try

So I don't know where you heard that cigars can "mess you up"... maybe you're talking about machine-made cigars, which are not premium cigars. Maybe you're talking about inhaling a cigar, which is definitely worse than smoking a pack of cigarettes. But cigar smokers smoke for the taste and sociability, not the nicotine fix.

huzzah, So I tried a Ritmeester Moods Tubros today. It was pretty awesome. Very mild - quite sweet and like a coffee kind of taste. I'm still a cigar n00b so I can't say more than that - I'll post a photo up later when I get around to it. Also had it with Kostriber Schwavzbier - which was nice dark German beer. Hadn't tried it before either and thought it was pretty cool. I bought 2 more cigars that I'll smoke later

Hmmm cigar news for me...

I got two packages of free cigars from friends on CS, which totaled up as 9 Cigars, 1 Bag of Black Cavendish Pipe Tobacco, 2 Teabags, and 1 Letter! I had one of the cigars, an Indian Tabac Maduro Tamahawk. I will briefly describe it.

Cut was fine, pre-light draw was fine, pre-light taste was sweet. Lit up. Took quite a few matches... should be investing in a butane insert for my Zippo soon. (Z-PLUS!) Anyways, had a bourbon/coke with it. And then a paistry. I was at some gig of my friends and it's at a café, so we usually go hear him and sometimes drink some, and usually if we stay long enough we get free paistries.

Cigar lasted quite a while. Pretty even burn. Went between sweet/spicy, like most maduros do. It was pretty good, but I think I will let the other one I got sent to me age a while.

Anyways, tonight I am going to a herf with a friend of mine, so that should be fun.

I just tried a Sumatra Villger Premium No. 7. A lot strong than the other one - more bitter and heavier but I quiet liked it. I think drier than the last one if that makes sense.

Had a Punch Rare Corojo last night. Not that great. The BEST ash construction I've seen, even burn, but didn't taste that great. At least it wasn't as harsh as the last Punch I had.

Will probably have a Fonseca Series F when I go home. And probably something else as well.

I have 4 shipments of cigar-related stuff coming this week. One box of Indian Tabac Maduro Tomahawks (SO EXCITED!), one 5-pack of Padron 2000 Maduros, one xikar Xi cutter (blue), and this guy from clubstogie.com is sending me his half of the trade we did, which will include some of his homebrewed beer! Almost excited about that as my first box!

After 3 bad cigars in a row I finally had a good one: Ashton Aged Maduro #20. I also got my box of Indian Tabac Maduro Tomahawks today. I am SO excited because it's my first box.

The only time I smoke cigars is when I get Blackwoods because they're cigars made like the olden times (Clint Eastwood's westerns inspired me). Other than that, I'll buy a fat Portofino stogie for celebrating special occasions. I don't smoke cigars that often because I smoke cigarettes, but I am cutting down because I've been smoking since I was 16.

So that's pretty cool.

Last night at my weekly herf I had a Partagas Naturales and a Carlos Torano Exodus Silver Edition Robusto Corto. The Partagas was nice. The Torano was a bit dissapointing, especially after so many of my cigar pals had hyped it up. Oh well.

So now I'm waiting on my 5 pack of Padron 2000s, and that should come this week! And then I plan on getting a box of Arturo Fuente Hemingway Short Stories and Ashton Coronas. Excited!
