Vote "YES" for the edit button, vote "ignore me" for no changes.

THE QUESTION CHANGES: WHO HAS EDIT BUTTON PROBLEMS?

Post by Mathieu Latulippe »

There aren't any edit buttons in the discussion section so that people can't edit their posts if they say something offensive and want to take it out. This is the more adult subforum of modified.

I think people should be able to correct themselves. This way, I wouldn't have to write more than one message to express myself clearly. Sometimes, you just want to add additionnal information that you acquired or remembered but forgot to say.

There won't be an edit button added to this section. We removed it very specifically because people always came on this section and posted whatever willy nilly bullshit they felt like without any recourse.

The discussion section is meant to be the most serious of the forums on the board. If you have a problem expressing yourself clearly then you need to think before you type. That didn't happen before we removed the edit button, but it certainly happens more now.

If it's really important to you to express yourselves clearly then try proof reading what you write.

Also posts very rarely get edited in this discussion. Certainly never for any kind of descriminitory language and I don't think for insults either. The only editing I ever do in the discussion forum that I can recall is fixing up peoples minor errors, deleting double posts or moving topics.

It's all very well to say "the mods can do this..." but please take into account how those powers are used.

I'm fully in favour of no edit button in this topic. If you don't stand by what you've written and you're too ashamed to admit that you were wrong or that you've changed your mind then just don't post in this subforum.

And if you really want something edited send a message to a mod and if it's a reasonable request - ie. you want a spelling mistake fixed or something like that - then I'm sure they'll do it for you. If you can't be bothered sending a message then it's clearly not a big enough issue to worry about.
