This is basicly how it went. In your posts, just under your nickname / join date / post count etc.. was a new title: "props". I was just a number. If you had any props you could donate a number of those props to someone else. Why were they removed? And can you give a more indepth description of the system?
For example let's say that you have 100 props and someone posts a video of them hitting chainsaw massacre. you could donate him say 20 props so you'd end up with 80 and he'd get 20 more than he had.
The problem was that there was a limited number of props to go around (say several thousand). I'm not quite sure how the mods distributed those initaly but at the beggining of the system they were being exchanged a lot so it was working out. Then some people started wanting to accumulate the highest number of props and they stopped giving out the props they had.
That basicly killed the system then as there weren't enough props left in the system to be distributed around.

Yeah, and see, that was a problem, but the new way that props (credits) is being handled is effective and good and allows for a more interactive community.
Here is the current ways of earning credits at Club Stogie.
5 credits - Starting a thread.
2 credits - Replying to a thread.
.10 credits - Amount of credits a user will receive when a thread they created is viewed by someone besides themselves.
Here's the kicker. Each forum on Club Stogie has a "credits multiplier" associated with each of the above. A multiplier of 1 would give you 5 credits when you start a thread (1 x 5 = 5) A multiplier of 3 would give you 15 credits when you start a thread (3 x 5 = 15). Same goes for replying and viewing. As you can see, the more interesting your thread, the more credits. Getting views adds up very quickly.
and finally...
1.5 credits - Amount of credits given to a user when they receive good reputation. This is multiplied by the amount of reputation given.
Then you end up using your credits for things on the board.

Alright so anyways... that explains how credits CAN be used to work on a PHPBB. And naturally we can be creative and come up with our own, and get rid of some of the ones that they use at CS.

While reputation would be cool. I think another good feature would be the "Ignore this Thread" option for refreshing the icons to indicate new posts in a subforum.
It's frustrating when you go to see what new, and it's just someone replying to a "test" thread, or the new bags thread, or whatever threads you guys don't care about.

GAH. An ignore this thread feature would save me an estimated three minutes per day. Over the course of a week, I could make a nice sandwitch with that time.
