Steel Shot, rusting and discoloring facile?

Post by Nathan »

I recently bought a bag of steel shot, from the www.ballisticsomethingorother.com website. The one that lonn uses, I think. Anyway, I tried it out inside a white footbag, and found that where ever I touched the fabric with a finger that had touched the steel shot, a nasty brown smudge would appear! Curious, I then washed the bag, and, like I thought, the bag soon became light tan, not white. my question is this, is this some sort of coating on the shot, and could it be removed? or is it rust, and has anyone else had this problem before? My filler sits in a bin by itself, and never is exposed to water or anything.

well if you really want to test it oout, take like 10 pellets(shots) and drop em in a little container with water... no lid. then check for rust every day... after a week, i wouldnt worry about it.

i still have to test mine out... i got some copper coated bbs. hmm...

also: if you want some help, you should include the RIGHT website.
