How do the people around you react to your Footbagging?

Everyone I know is SUPER supportive.

My mom loves it, and is super impressed when I show her stuff (especially longer runs)

My dad isn't really supportive, but he isn't really about anything, really. But he always bugs me to do demos for his elementary school, and stuff.

My apau (grandma) loves it and used to ask me every single day to show her a new move I had hit, when I was living with her. She also really liked talknig to Taras, who used to come over and jam all the time while I was there.

My youngest brother plays, and ordered those red Lavers with me. He has no motivation and plays about 5 minutes, which is SUUUPER frustrating for me (plus he self serves a LOT @____@)

My second youngest brother often says he wants to learn to play, and always asks to take pictures of me playing (he's a really really good photographer)

My oldest (eldest?) brother really likes it too, and watched my entire DVD with his roommate and they both loved it.

And Marita and her family think it's awesome too.

That's basically everyone I know. Oh and another friend stole Mr Sandman bags from me and stitched me a bag in her sewing class in highschool.

Both my mom and dad have driven me to tournaments before, once 8 hours, once 19 hours, and once 24 hours

Oh, my mom also lets me use her credit card to order tons of videos and stuff.

My parents are not very into footbag or supportive about it but they're slowly turning around. They still think I'll grow out of it but they're glad I'm happy playing and they think it's good that I'm so committed to the sport (rather than just committed to personally getting good at the sport). Most of my friends think the sport is cool. Actually if somebody disses footbag and they aren't already a friend of mine I tend to not have anything to do with them

My brother plays a tiny bit but not enough. He has good skills for somebody who never plays but should spend more time playing.

I get really good reactions from people most of the time, which is great.

Me Mum is super supportive and can kinda toe stall. She also sponsored the ShrEdmonton tournament. I think she's just glad i'm doing something exercise that's not sitting on the computer for 3 hours playing worms armageddon (what I used to do).

My dad doesn't really care. He'll move from my shred-spot if I want to play.

My younger cousin, brother-in-law, and friends all started out watching me play and maybe just throwing in the occasional kick. Now they play freestyle too and about 2/3 of them have lavers.

I get a variety of responses from spectators. A lot of people who are with friends will try to make fun of me to impress their friends. "Oh look at the hacky sackers!" "He must have too much time on his hands".... "Don't you have a job!?" My response to this is: "I play one hour each night instead of watching TV" which always shuts them up. I also get positive reactions that include random props from strangers and people asking if they can join the circle.

Jeremy -- my brother sounds a lot like your brother. I saw pictures of your brother and he looks just like you!!! My brother looks exactly like me too! (Especially with our matching red Lavers now... (I feel silly...)). At one point I think he was beetter than me, but he completely stopped playing. He's way more bothsided than me (everything both sides, except weak clipper is a bit weaker. He could be sooo good if he ever played more than, like, 5 minutes twice a year :p

My mum is really supporting me, bought me two bags already and likes that I've finally found a sport...

My older brother isn't interested in footbag at all and he doesn't really like it...Maybe because his friends at school used to "circle kick" all the time and he didn't really want to play...He doesn't think it's a sport and says that I will soon stop playing because this is just some kind of "temporary mood"

My older sister thinks it's cool but that's all I ever heard from her...she isn't really interested in footbag...

My parents think it's a waste of my time and my life because they haven't supported anything I've done since I got out of the Army National Guard last April. My oldest brother thinks it's dope, my older brother doesn't care, and I haven't seen my twin for about two years, so he hasn't seen me kick yet. My sister is pretty supportive of it and I was talking to her a little while ago and since she's one of the senior members on Havre's city council, she said she could get support for a Havre footbag event in the event that I have to move back to Havre and re-form the "Zullos" or whatever they were called. My friend's dad owns a shopping mall there, so he would let us use the parking lot there.

cat- glad i dont have one

friends- one of them likes it and the others make fun of me for spending so much time in what they call hacky sack(i think there jeoulous cause they can only kick it 2 to 3 times

cousins- say i am horrible even though i know they like it

mom and dad both know how to kick (for consecutives)

mom - doesn't really care about freestyle

dad - likes watching me shred (even though i'm still only in the 2-add level

)

friends - like kicking the bag around. they also think that it's cool when i can pull off tricks, but not interested in freestyle themselves (i have this one friend who has potential to shred, but he doesn't want to have to buy the equipment

Dance Dance Revolution

It's a hardcore video game where you dance on a mat and have to bust the right moves in time with the music. It gets huge followings with people being obessed with it as footbag and it's basically better than sex and beer put together.

Yeah but that's the thing about being ignorant and not experiencing new things. Sex while drenched in beer might be the best thing you've ever experienced but you don't know what DDR is either - so you lose.

Well said! My friends in Havre are really into the DDR franchise. I never really got into it, so instead, I footbag. They haven't seen me since I was in Havre getting my Ford during Spring Break in March (what a shitty way to spend your Spring Break) tearing it up at the Atrium, so when I go back to Havre on the 11th, I'm going to lay down some mad shredding. Hopefully I can find someone else that actually footbags there.
