Pogo - Symp or not?

Post by Shredster »

Personally, as long as ANY dex is clean and symposium, it should be symposium.

I know how symposium butterfly does not technically GET symposium, but if done cleanly, its still a symposium dex and should still be a symposium add.

Likewise, with pogo set. If done cleanly (pogo is HARDER than stepping, no doubt) there should be no reason that symposium AND the add that goes with it should not count. Why shouldn't it count? Is it too easy? I don't think so, personally I think symposium mirage is an easy symposium as well, but its still harder than mirage. It gets an add and is classified as symposium, so why not symp mirage set from clipper (pogo)?

- technicly pogo is symposium, you do a dex where you don't plant your setting foot while you do the dex

- pogo is very easy. I find it equivalent to stepping in difficulty

- yes it's super easy to slur also.

It's symposium ONLY if it's followed by ss full dex.

what? how? why? since when?

The only thing that jumps to mind is symposium barraging set.

pogo ss mirage doesn't get a sympoisum add does it?

pogo bubba doesn't either as far as I know.

How I understand it like this: pogo set never gets a symposium add.

Symposium barraging set gets a symposium add but those two sets are entirely different.

-- Since full dexes get symposium/xdex.

- Pogo ss Mirage has no full dexes
- Pogo Bubba has no full dexes

- Pogo ss Whirl has two full dexes and it's by far the only stepping ss trick (that I know) has two full dexes.
Pogo ss Symp Whirl has 7 adds - Symp, Dex, Symp, Dex, Xdex, XBD, Stall

The add system has no exceptions which means that every full dex gets symposium.

Yes, adds suck.

I just had a little MSN chat with anssi... well our opinions still differ!

The main point we seem to disagree on is that stepping ss clipper and whirl have a different degree of dexterety to them.

Now I'll gladly agree that symp. whirling set gets symp. add and that it's a full dex, I'll also say that it has NOTHING to do with pogo set that is not a full dex nor does is get symp. add.

And I still maintain that pogo ss symp. whirl is 5 :)

We need a knowledeable 3rd party here!

mmm, i fully don't understand how pogo ss whirl has two full dexes... could someone explain?

i just learnt pogo, and while i think it is ultra cool and styley and sexual, and is harder than stepping, it's not by much.

p.s. pogo ss symp whirl would be ultra cool 8) i like it

I say pogo never gets a symposium add, neither does symp butterfly.

Pogo ss symp whirl is a 5 add - dex, dex, bod, xbd, del. no xdex no pdx and no bod add for the pogo set.

I find pogo and symp butterfly both very easy moves. Harder than their non symp versions possibly - but not by enough to warrent another add. Symp butter in particular when you compare these two moves:

clip>symp same out>op clip
clip>symp same out>op toe

Not much difference in jobs - a huge difference in difficulty

How about:

clip >> symp same in > op toe (clip set symp mirage)

vs.

clip > symp same in >> op toe (pogo toe)

as well as:

toe >> symp same out > op clip (symp butterfly)

vs.

toe > symp same out >> op clip (symp tapping clipper)

which of the 4 moves get the [symp] add?

EDIT: ie. does the timing of the dex have an influence of the symposiumness of the dex?

well in my opinion all those moves should not get symp adds. But I see your point and I think a lot of people would call clip set symp mirage a legit (if very cheap) 3 add.

If you don't think symp tapping clip, and clip set symp mirage gets the [symp] add, would you then also say that full symposium tap doesn't get any [symp] adds?

It's not that if the trick doesn't feel like being worth of one more add it shouldn't get it. Add system says that in the case of Stepping ss Whirl the stepping is full dex and because full dexes get symposium add Pogo ss symp Whirl gets two symposiums.

Think of Whirr (Double Whirl) - then Crispy Whirr (Whirling ss Whirl) - then Crispy Whirr where the frst dex is hippy (Stepping ss Whirl). All these have two full dexes.
THINK ABOUT IT, how does your leg go? It doesn't matter what parts of your foot dexes the bag. You can do it also clip set Quantum way. Two full dexes.

Another example: Toe Delusion. It gets symposium like Toe Barrage. Think of Crispy Delusion. Tapping ss Illusion. It's no matter if you do any of the dexes hippy or leggy.

Where does the Add system "say" this. This is the first time I've ever heard that.

If clipper set symp mirage gets 3 adds (and symposium), why doesn't symp miraging set??? (pogo)? What if someone performs symp mirage uptime? Because its uptime, does it negate the symposium? Are you saying that pogo does not get symposium because another component follows after it?

I still feel strongly that ANY dex, regardless of where it is set, and regardless of HOW easy it may seem to any one individual is still symposium as long as:

"The non dexing leg does not touch the ground during right before the dex, during the dex, and right after the dexing foot touches the ground."

So, here's what I've gotten from this. Pogo set is ONLY symposium if its followed by a ss full dex. Also, Pogo is NEVER symposium. Because its too easy? That's a poor excuse if that's the case. Also, are you saying pogo IS symposium but does not get a symposium add? That, I think makes more sense, its along the same lines of "do knee bumps continue a trick".

More opinions on this post? I'm curious really how this comes out.

I never say this, but peace, i'm debating, not fighting :p

This whole discussion is just more BS about a system designed to count move components being inconsistently modified to reflect difficulty.

Of course the dexes are symposium.

Argh... I'm getting confused myself.

But I still think that Stepping ss Whirl has two full dexes.
And all full dexes earn symposium add.

But Clip set Mirage isn't a full dex. Clip set Barrage is one full dex.

It doesn't matter if you do stepping whirl or stepping clipper, the step is the same half dex. I don't think it's kosher to pretend that it's a full dex on stepping whirl if there is a plant in the middle of the first "full" dex.

I just don't see two full dexes on stepping whirl, and I've hit a lot of them.

I see it as step, shift body, whirl. One and a half dexes.

Pogo is not symposium... ever. You can have Pogo Symposium something...but not Symposium Pogo. The reason being that You pull through on a Pogo (majorly slurry). If you don't then it's not a Pogo.

When the bag starts and ends in the same place relative to the leg, and the leg circles it twice, how could that not be considered two full dexes?

The relationship between the dexing leg and the bag in Stepping ss whirl is exactly the same as it is in dillusion (ignoring plants) - the bag just starts and ends on the opposite side.

And Splint, did you just say that a clean pogo set isn't pogo anymore? That's odd.

Ok, we all know that Stepping is a half dex. If you're implying that Stepping ss Whirl is two full dexes, then that's like saying a Toe Whirl is one and a half dexes, which is completely wrong.
