Are mesh lavers better than leather...

Post by funklovesfootbag »

Hi, I'm just getting into the sport after I met a group of awesome footbaggers in Paris and hung out with them for a few days (I even got to meet Vasek, holy shit I was amazed,) and I'm completely hooked now.

I bought some Lavers not paying attention to the fact that they are leather and not mesh. Does this make a huge difference? I'm a beginner as I said and can barely do a leg-over, so I'm trying to make sure my equipment is as good as possible. Also, is there a huge difference between sandmaster footbags and hand-sewn ones?

Thanks for the help!

Well your starting with leather, So you wil get used to them thers not that BIG of a difference i wouldnt really worry about it, And thats awesome you got to meet vasek! :) And there is a difference between sandbags and 32-pane hand sewn, Sandbags tend to roll a bit, but are very stallable, and are great for the beginner I would start with one of those, 32-panels are nice, They roll when they are in there break in stage, and have a totally different feel, But start with what you like, There is no right/wrong way of what equipment to use (atleast IMO), It might take longer to learn, But :) So looks like your off to a good start :)

definitely get mesh lavers. they have more feel to them, especially after you modify them (also, leather lavers are harder to modify)

and a sandmaster is definitely better than a crocheted one (in freestyle). a good footbag and the right shoes can make all the difference.

good luck and shred on!

Leather lavers are fine. The mod is different, not harder. Many people say leather lavers are easier to mod because you're cutting from the outside, not the inside. I haven't ever modded a leather shoe though.

I would suggest getting a Mr. Sandman from www.freedomfootbags.com and a 32 panel, eventually.

Welcome to modified.

And as for the modifications...

Awesome, thanks for the input I think I'll stick with the leather ones at least for a while. As far as the modifications go, I've cut out the stitching in the eyelets and laced them properly, but I've heard mixed advice on modifying the side panels... Any advice on this? THANKS!

even though im a mesh user but I have used g-units which you have to modify the leather off and the material is better under the leather than the mesh is so by you getting the leathers the material is more grippy than the mesh so I dont think you have anything to worry about

Sweet... now how to mod them out?

Post by funklovesfootbag »

Awesome, again thanks for the input, are there any links besides the flipsider link on how to fully mod out leather lavers? because the pictures on that side are down, or at least dont load in my browser.

Thanks again!
