Still unsure on the dates. I called Andrew about 10 minutes ago and he said he would call me back shortly, so hopefully I will know everything soon tonight. But for now, I want some feedback on a potential flyer:
Is it too messy?
Is there too much information? / Too little?
Are the fonts too boring?
Is it too monotonous? (We won't do colour...)
Update:
I've got pretty much everything under control. It's just taking longer than I anticipated to finalize everything, as I've never had to organize this before -- it's always been 100% Joel (THE MAN!). But I called him today and he's giong to make sure we CAN have our annual venue on our desired date (Sept. 3-4 (2nd will be pre-shred)). So if we can't get the club, we will need to change the date. So I just want to know FOR SURE, before I let you guys know. I'm REALLLLLYY sorry for the delays. I feel really bad, Kevin -- honest! I hope you can get the time off. I will make you cookies!
An update for those who paid for tshirts last year who never got them; we will be sending you THIS year's tshirt instead, as we decided we (Joel... :p) put it off way to long and it would be silly to print two shirts. We (Andrew) have a REALLY slick PURELY HACKRIFICE design conceived!!
I work at the biggest bowling alley in the city (30 lanes) -- one of the hottest in Canada! We have glow bowling all the time, which is super popular, apparently. (Glow bowling = all black lights + light show, etc and loud music). I'm going to see if they can "sponsor" us for an after-party location. It will be great since those who want to drink can, and those who aren't old enough can actually come with us! I'm pretty sure they'll let us have a couple lanes for free -- so yay! (but don't quote me on this...)
We have at least $300 for prizes...$600 if Joel can get the guy we did a demo for to actually pay up...and...possibly more from sponsors.
Again, sorry (Kevin). I will post right when I know more. Sorry sorry sorry. I hope everyone can come.
I wonder how much a train ticket would cost to get up there. Footbagging with the Canadians at MFJ 2 was sick and I want to shred with them again! I really wish I could have come to ShrEdmonton, but noooo. Oh well. Erik, got any guesstimates on a train ticket?

Hmm. I have no idea how to take the train, nevermind from tUSoA to Canada. I tried to Google it, but I had no idea what to look for. Anyone else?
I Mapquested it, and it's only a 17 hour drive -- that's shorter than it takes to drive to Edmonton from here. http://www.mapquest.com/directions/main ... &2s=mb&2z=
I tried to check flights, too, but again I've never had to fly over the border, so I have no idea what I'm doing -- especially DEPARTING from the USA. I found this fligth tracker thing for your city ( http://missoulamt.usl.myareaguide.com/f ... acker.html ), and your airport code (MSO) and everything...but no luck.
It would be awesome if you could make it -- sadly I'm the wrong person to ask about international transportation :/
On a plus note, we do have the bowling alley for our after party Still waiting on Joel for confirmation of the community club status.
My work is actually pretty good about that. If I make a serious effort to get it covered, and in the end am totally unable to do so, I can just say, "So, I tried really hard but no dice." and they will say, "Alright, but you owe me."
I'll be there.
There's a very good chance that I won't shred very much (due to injury)...I'll probably end up filming the whole time instead. (Completely okay with me...hopefully I'll be able to capture the tournament's atmosphere better than I did Tofu 2005 )
Hm...if I can sit on the computer for a long time, I can probably figure out a way to get over yonder to Minnesota or something on the train and take a bus up or something. Last time I did international public travel was when I went to the Edmonton Cantando Music Festival in 2002 for band. If I had a vehicle that didn't suck goat balls I could drive up there unless I could coax Evan into going to Winnepeg. Maybe I could convince him to go for the Canadians.
Edit: Erik, do you have a list yet of people who are for sure attending? I know it's still a month away, but I'm trying to figure out all possibilities.

Dj Polly, our headliner, is the 2 time Break Beat battel winner and she should be holding it down with her mix of deep and funky breaks, also there will be Dj Kr!mson spinning D'n'B and Dj Domain spinning house. They are going to be playing on saturday all day and we are trying to have them in on sunday as well, and they sound like it'll be a go!
Andrew and I talked last night, and the tournament is the first weekend of September (as it was going to be, but we were waiting onconfirmation). We never got our confirmation, but Andrew is going to try to call today, and we're sick of waiting and going to start posting flyers as soon as we know that they will print properly.
EDIT: Update on the afterparty!! We're bowling at one of the biggest alleys in Canada; there's a bar; AND...as long as it's not super busy (it shouldn't be) we will be watching shred videos on the projector screen while we bowl, possibly with the entire second floor to ourselves!!!!!
So Bretttttt.......The ShrEdmonton Crew was thinking about leaving on the Thursday for Saskatoon, staying there, and then continuing on to Winnipeg on Friday.......you know, break up the trip a bit?
I don't want to sound like I'm inviting myself, but is that something we can make happen?
ill be going to the winnipeg tourney, right now im in the okanagan, in BC, but ill be going to vancouver soon for the competition on jericho beach on the 20th of august, but after that , ill be heading to winnipeg slowly but surely. im wondering if any of the guys that are part of edmonton n other crew would mind me visiting to shred, before I head to winnipeg..
