A friend of mine burnt me a Kaki King cd yesterday, and I was completely and utterly amazed. she is a 15 year old guitar virtuoso with a style and method of play entirely of her own. it sounds like 4 or 5 guitarists are playing at once at parts but it's just her. for a first listen I recommend downloading kewpie station

yeah, she's pretty nasty. She's at least 24, maybe a little older.

Thanks for the heads up. I just checked out her site and watched a few of the videos but I have to admit that as a huge Michael Hedges fan, her stuff just doesn't cut it for me. Hedges not only pioneered this style decades ago, he reached a level that few of the imitators have even come close to. There are quite a few folks in Japan (Oshio Kotaro, etc.) who also imitate the Hedges style. I don't have a problem with this but sometimes people will act like what they are doing is something unique that they have created themselves. How quickly we forget the contributions of people like Hedges and Stanley Jordan...

those facts are good to know. i'd never heard of hedges or jordan before. i'll be sure to check them out
