No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

read a bit, its stupid, if this were really an issue it would be wider know

I think microwaves are safe. Certainly eating the food should be safe from what we know about electro magnetic radiation (of which light is one frequency).
Microwaves can be potentially dangerous if you spend a lot of time around them and they leak the radiation but generally they should be completely safe. The term "radiation" is a very broard term referring to all kinds of things other than nuclear radiation. The radiation in a microwave which is surprisingly called mircrowaves is electro magnetic radiation - which is the same kind of radiation that light is. I'm sure you're aware that light is not too dangerous and certainly the world is a much better place with light than without it. Higher frequencies can cause damage because they involve more energy but it's not really significant unless you're subjected to a large amount of microwaves. We're obviously completely surrounded with electro magnetic radiation all the time so I don't think it's a big deal.

Yeah, I learned about electromagnetic radiation for like the past two or three years in school...radio waves, heat waves (infrared), visible light, uv rays, x-rays, and gamma rays. Microwaves run in the heat waves part of the spectrum. From what I learned, only uv rays and up hurt people severely. I mean, a lot of heat (microwaves) may burn you or something, but nothing cancerous. I only skimmed like the first page or more of that site, and that seemed like a bunch of crap from everything I've ever learned.

I'm too lazy to click on the link and read the article, but the danger from microwaves is that the microwaves excite the particles in the food, which can lead to them shedding electrons. The particles are then "free radicals", or particles that can strip electrons from the things around them. There are a number of possible problems associated with free radicals of certain kinds. Whether or not your microwave creates these dangerous free radicals is the crux of the safe/not safe debate.

Care to extrapolate/provide a link which does so?junkyardjew wrote:I'm too lazy to click on the link and read the article, but the danger from microwaves is that the microwaves excite the particles in the food, which can lead to them shedding electrons. Does microwaving kill nutrients in food? Is microwaving safe?

Microwaves ovens emit Radio Waves. Radio Waves are the weakest in the electromagnetic spectrum. Micrtowaves are just the strongest of the Radio Waves.
If you were to get shot by the full power of your microwave oven then yeah, it'd be pretty dangerous. Just look at your food after a couple of minutes.
Microqaves generally transmit their radio waves at 2.4 ghz. However, look at your cordless phone, cell phone or your wifi internet. They are transmitting radio waves at 2.4 ghz as well. Don't forget your TV as well. Radio waves produce Cable output.
I think all of these things are dangerous, but there are certainly degrees of danger and they are not as far fetched as many make them out to believe. I mean we certainly have more Cancer per capita than they had 100 years ago. Even so , it can't all be blaimed on Microwaves and cell phones.
