How often should one Footbag?

Post by Guest_2 »

When describing weight lifting and such, one should lift one set of muscles every other day-in order for the muscles to have 48 hours to repair.

Now, footbag isn't exactly weight lifting, however it does exercise all of your lower extremeties.... So should one space out h/er/is footbagging to every other day in order for the muscles to repair?

On the other hand, Ahren Gehrman and Allen Haggert have both said that they've noticed that taking a while off from kicking can make them kick better. For me, that is somewhat true as well. I think it's because if I do it everyday it can become part of the daily grind, whereas taking a day off makes me think "man, I wish I were shredding". Even though it seems like I should just kick that day, if I don't I appreciate it a lot more and the improvement seems greater.

yeah personally I think the more you play and the more often you play the better you will get. People like Jorden and Vasek played all the time (and might still do that). I often play when my legs are really sore from a previous session - but the more often I do this the longer I can play for and the less sore I get. Use your brain too though. I don't have hard sessions every day - actually most of my sessions are drilling things that are not really high energy but more about control and stamina and if I am sore I'll usually have a light session.

These two were also super awsome hyper nijas b4 they took time off. I think its imposible to get better by not playing, but they are both naturals and I think it is more of a mental break that they needed.
So I suppose if you aren't enjoying your game or feel your not progressing, time off is good. But as long as you enjoy kicking every day DO IT!

Also old men don't recover as quickly as younger men. They would need to work hard to build up the right muscles and endurance or else taking breaks will be the only way for their bodies to recover enough. :P 8)

Zach, I definatly see what you are saying though. Going back to a shred after some time is and feels really really good a lot of times. I think the resons for this are that your legs and mind are refreshed. Its like your mind replays what it knows best to do.

But if you took identical people having the same lenght sessions and one person played every other day and the other person played every day for 6 moths or a year, I definatly think the person playing everyday would progress faster and ultimatly be better. Playing less often may and sometimes does work in in the immediate run, but not the long run.

Felix said that how long you play isn't that important, how often you play is.

I play about an hour a day when I have to run that day, and 2 or more hours a day when I'm don't. when my legs really hurt I just keep to basics(titless mostly), and drills. But normals if my legs do hurt they feel better after i play, because I stretch a lot. So in other words, play every day.
