You gotta make it.
I'm sure there will be a turn out from the Australasian crew this year, NZ Nats are in a week ... so we're getting a small invasion of Aussie shredders for the next week or so (Lynton and the Melbourne crew, and many others from around aussie no doubt).
You'll have kicked with Adrian Dick (NZs main footbag export) and the other guys from Auckland (They've all been at worlds at some point in recent years), Jono Heyes is currently in France (not sure for how long, but that puts him closer to Prague than the rest of us ... lucky bugger  ), and then there is a vast wealth of talent which is largely unrecognised (globally speaking). I could sit here and talk about it for hours, but I'll just have to let the inevitable video footage speak for itself(and there will be footage, professional video is being shot, there will be various amateur footage and then me ... provided I don't keep dropping the camera in constant amazement :D)
Shit I'd like to go to worlds ... even if it were just as a cameraman (I shouldn't be saying just and cameraman in the same sentence, but I mean if I didn't compete or even kick), the footage would be unbelievable ...

I'm sure Liam is a really cool guy and meant no disrespect toward to Sunil.
Hey, fugeddabaoudit. I'll choose my words more carefully in the future. :)

I'm not making worlds this year. I'm holding out for a Palmerston North Worlds, 2004.

whats fairy beater? its confusing because beater is at the end of legbeater AND eggbeater. and blur can be done from clipper, and toe blur is done from toe.

EDIT: i recall hearing it being a fairy eggbeater, but sometimes i hear people saying fairy legover (style eggbeater) is fairy beater.

Yeah, lets not change the subject like that. If anything we should turn this into a basketball thread instead. Or Marvel vs Capcom! By the way, my team is Storm-Sentinel-Cyclops, I just liked the Dr. Doom avatar, so I ganked it off of Shoryuken.com.

Hmm...while almost every post I make is just me being dumb...I wonder if maybe we could organize a video game/ 2 on 2 basketball/chess tournament for footbaggers during worlds. One of the reasons I like foursquare so much is you get to play with players in a different environment, have fun doing something else. Maybe Ill start a thread on this closer to worlds.

Watchin some of the early footage of Sunil was hilarious, i sucked at footbag at the time, and watching me would make anyone sleep, but I enjoyed watching his style, i thought he was gonna snap or fall over sometimes, then newer videos came out, and i said, DAMN, he's gotten a lot better, when i watch anyones arms while they're shredding for long enough, i can always get a laugh out of it, footbag is the crazy man's dance, caaarazzzy !

yeah I just looked at what I'd said and I was like "fairy beater doesn't go into atomic anything" ... I'll blame it on the sleep deprived state I was in (haven't done one of those 8 hr night sessions in a long time) ... does Adrian throw down fairy moves as well? I'm definitely going to need a camera for next weekend 8) I'm more of a "anyone who is good" wannabe :P
Ok we'll need to start a "Get Liam to worlds" fund or something started
Um wouldn't you need to go and win worlds for that to happen Liam? (I know I'm definitely not up to that, unless some freak episode happens and I somehow get given the abilities of Lon(style, spinning, ducking/diving and general creativity), Ales(power, and multidex speed), Honza(massive ducking dexing sets), Moglum(those ankles), Vasik(I don't need to explaing this one do I?), and Jon Schneider(dragon master, and swirling magician) all rolled into one ... yeah right like that'll ever happen)

Chris ... I'm saying Fairy Beater, but actually talking about fairy (op) butterfly: toe>same out>op out>op clip
I'm not sure if this is the common usage name, but Ellis uses this name on flipsider's practice room so it must have some level of usage. I guess it's called fairy beater because it isn't too far from legbeater (atomic butterfly) in style and in general execution. Of course this only my opinion, but I can see they both need some power in the set to get the bag up and over the dex leg and cross body for the ending fly. So contrary to it's name it doesn't contain either a legbeater or an eggbeater, which probably doesn't make it a very informative name :?

I haven't played footbag foursquare, but if it's anything like the old school foursquare I should be right at home :D

Hey Ken, are you still in NZ or have you since left our shores? If you are still here, it would be good to see you in action in living colour.

I was actually thinking similar things about Sunil as HooD mentioned. He must have some wickedly resiliate knee widges (tendons, ligaments or what not), to withstand the massive forces that are being placed on them, do you think he'd lend them to me after he's finished with them ;)

I've never really got into the capcom fighters (sf2 and all it's clones), I'm more of a tekken/virtua fighter/soul calibur type of person, this means I don't have the cat like reflexes needed to hammer out a 20 hit hadouken alpha counter strike combo (or whatever they fuck they call them) on command while slurping a drink and eyeing up the opponents girl ... oh well

Sorry about the rambling's at the end of my previous novel, I guess I needed to channel some energy seeing as I was so wide awake and couldn't sleep, and that seemed to be the thing to do.

Fairy beater should be called fairy butterfly. I call it fairy butterfly. Or doesnt it have a name like Dimwalk? I think it does.

It doesn't have a name like dimwalk, but I think it should, fairy butterfly is too long for a four add.

How about Fimwalk?
I never usually call it fairy beater, only when replying to Richard's post before. Usually just call it fairy butterfly. I'm pretty sick of everything being named recently (unless it's a good, applicable name). I don't think that moves that end in dragon need a whole seperate name.

Noah: My friend and I are like the best at Tekken Tag in the area. We got beat by some chump in a recent competition though. But that was just nerves and stuff. We got 62 on Survival yesterday, me Law and him Paul.... but I know we can do alot better. What's your record? 8)

Um you mean all 5 don't you :P

I hear ya on the naming thing too, fairy butterfly ⇒ fairy walk (or a walk of some kind I would've thought), but I guess there's always a fly in the ointment :?
FootbagginBum wrote:It doesn't have a name like dimwalk, but I think it should, fairy butterfly is too long for a four add.
you are kidding right? A whole 4 syllables is too long, it's only 2 extra syllables for christ's sake, but if you insist I guess you could call it fairy fly, or maybe fairy walk if you like.

And for the record dimwalk is toe ripwalk, not pixie butterfly, so pixie butterfly is probably too long for you now Bum (j/k :P)

EDIT: Sorry for using fairy beater I don't usually call it that either, it was just the first name that came to mind.

Liam speaks the truth on Tekken Tag, he left me for dead (not that I'm much competition), and Winston is a lethal weapon, and unlike most people who stick to the repetitive wavedash brigade he's solid across the range, there was only a hit in that comp in the end.

1. I must confess that I too only started seriously considering going to Prague after watching XXX. After a little research, I also learned the beer there is excellent and hella cheap. And if I can see Rammstein and Orbital there after a day of footbag with the Czech mutants...Im so there. Im already contemplating what style mohawk to sport.

2. Sadly I left New Zealand a month ago. God damn that was a good time. Best footbag memory there: being at an outdoor music festival in a circle with Adrian, who was holding a beer bottle a friend gave him. I yell at him: `paradon swirl! paradon swirl!` and he hits it, beer in hand, hardly spilling any. But rest assured, I will most definitely make my ass back there, especially now that I have friends in Wellington and Christchurch. Hell, my best friend here in Japan is from palmy, so I might even visit there in the future.

3. Fairybeater...never liked the name, though I was calling fairybutterfly by that name back in 99. I saw Time2Jam the other day, and Eric Reile hits fairy legbeater, and Yacine hits flic (fairy eggbeater), which are both awesome. I guess my point is fairybeater seems to better describe moves other than fairybutterfly, but its a shitty name anyway.

4. Does anybody think Cyclops anti-air assist works better than Capcom AAA with a team of Storm and Sentinel? I just prefer having him as last man standing, but Capcom is so effective I normally am not left with just him anyway.

5. I made 7 free throws in a row the other day. #does same dance Dr. Evil did after shooting the world into its holder in AP2#

Liam: I don't actually own any gaming systems so I haven't ever really played survival mode. Normally when I play it's rare I find someone who can beat me. I have had over 50 wins in a row on 2 player mode against groups of friends though, and Im proficient with every character (although I must admit I don't like Julia/Michelle in any of them and Kazuya is only good in the 4th.) Are you going to worlds? We should have a tekken Jam too!

i don't mean to argue, but a dimwalk IS a Pixie op Butterfly.
i am not saying your wrong or im right, but the book im holding in my hand, tells me that thats what it is...Ive never heard ti called a toe ripwalk, but it makes me feel a little better. i like ALL the "walks" but im not good at many of them, however dimwalk ive got dialed.

are you sure you not thinnking of, Yoda(pixie ripwalk) or E-walk(frantic butterfly)?

just trying to understand, thats all..

Wait what the hell?

Okay, someone tell me the OFFICIAL names of these two moves:

Toe>Same In>Op Out>Op Clip

Toe>Same In>plant>Same Out>Op Clip

Is the first one Pixie Op Butterfly or just Pixie Butterfly, and is it Dimwalk or Fairyfly or what...?!?

Well Toe>same in>(plant)> Op Out>Op Clip is Pixie Butterfly, commonly known as dimwalk even though the name dimwalk was originally coined for toe ripwalk, which is a quantum butterfly. Pixie butterfly without the plant is a variation on dada curve, and a ugly one at that, very hard to get clean. There is no need for op butterfly, because pixie say butterfly is a parkwalk.

Now, I always call pixie butterfly dimwalk but Noah makes a good point.

But, I propose we call fairy butterfly "flutter" and then, if we really wanna return to calling quatum butter a dimwalk, we can call pixie butter a "putter"

Feedback please.
