Well let me tell you what I have in mind so far!zachatree wrote:hummm... i wonder if there will be any partying
Friday October 7th
Casual shred and foursquare at Confederation Park, our favourite outdoor shred spot.
Some time in the evening have an official check in for the tournament at my house, 2 blocks from the shred spot.
At the check in people will pick up their players packs and buy their t-shirts and register for any events they are competing in. Also, I will likely be having a keg at my house for us all to get boozed up. To go with the boozing will be live DJ's and a big sound system and of course tons of party shred in my house!
Saturday October 8th
There will be a short list of recomended cheap breakfast places that are all easy to locate so that everyone can get fed and ready for shred easy.
I am debating between two good competition sites. It will probably wind up being the main gym at my school though. If we use this spot then we are in a really good spot for other non-shred activities too. There is a wicked swimming pool there with spring boards and I will figure out what time they have open swims and I will put it in the schedule as something people can go do if they want. Also, just around the corner in the same building is the bar that I think the players party will be at that night. I am going to try to get them to sponsor the event and possibly we will be able to get drink discounts, that'd be sweet.
I am going to make a map showing how to get between all the different locations, but I am also being carefull to keep them all really close together and easy to navigate between.
The competitions will be held on Saturday. I am going to need some experienced players to help with judging (Montreal?) and with Shred 30 scoring. I am sure everything will sort itself out however.
Sunday October 9th
Casual shred and net and foursquare and golf and all that on Queen's campus.
OOH! I am going to include bus tickets in the players pack! yes!
There will be bar shred at the Saturday night spot too for sure.
There will be lots of bags for sale at this event! Both Vida and I are eagerly stabbing up bags and I have heard from a few other bag sponsors that are willing to contribute to this great event.
I will keep posting more details when more come.

Okay here are some updates!!
I have been working hard with Dan from Mississauga on the logo for KICKASS and it is getting SWEET!!
I will likely have the final version ready to post by tonight.
GET THIS......
KICKASS IS SPONSORED BY AN ENERGY DRINK COMPANY NOW!!!!!
A drink company called "Bawls" is sponsoring KICKASS!!
They said they will be sending us 'some cases' of Bawls. Wicked.
This just keeps getting better.
Have I already mentioned that there will be DJ's at the players party on Friday at my house?
I am thinking that 2 kegs will be a good amount of beer to have and drink.
I love house shred. This is going to be sick.
I am so effing excited for this event already. It is building such amazing momentum so fast.
You guys havn't even seen how well all the behind the scenes stuff is coming along either. I already have a map made up and I have all the locations within such a small area and it's all labelled with a legend and everything. Ooooh yeah! I want this to be the best!!!

Well I wasn't sure before because KICKASS is Thanksgiving weekend. But so far, Tom, you've done such an awesome job, I really want to come. And you still have so much time left! Grrrrrrreat work!
I'll be there.
The turkey dinner will have to wait.
I'll be there.

I cannot convey how extremely excited I am to go to this tournament. I'm gonna try to have a good shred with everyone there.

Aw man I just spent the last little while reading this whole thread cuz i havent yet and i've been getting more and more stoked until I read camilles post that reminded me its on Thanksgiving weekend
I have to unfortunately be in Ottawa that weekend and this greatly reduces the chances of me making an appearance... I will do my best to at least make it to kingston for a little bit because this tournament sounds amazing... I just wish it was another weekend cuz I have unbreakable plans already. FUCK.
Tom, why would Erik be in Kingston? If he's in the province, it will probably be in Toronto because Marita goes to school here. Kingston is a bit pricey to get to from Toronto... Have you even spoken to Erik about any of this yet? That might be a good idea.
