Now that I`m unemployed and have internet access, I`m playing again. I play on yahoo.com, but I`ll play anywhere that has free registration. Anybody who`s interested post here, and hopefully we can set some games up!

You should try playing Kung Fu Chess. non-turnbased chess, customizable games (no delay four-player chess is simply insane)
There are other fun games on the site too, like word ninja (non-turnbased scrabble and sumo volleyball.)
edit: Macintosh not supported

Had anyone played "Archon" (old computer game)?
It was like chess, but when a piece was "taken", the pieces would battle, with the winner surviving on the square.
If you were on a square that was the color of your team (purple or grey), then you had more hitpoints than if on an opposing square.
That game kicked ass, because a lowly Orc(pawn) could chase down a Wizard("King") and beat him ( if you were good).

I'd love to play ya, C-Fan. Chess is a good game for geniuses like us.
(i do prefer hold-em)
I haven't tried to play on Yahoo yet.

I used to play that game alot, but its been a long time. I remember thinking that the unicorn was the best, but yeah, those little Orcs with their big clubs were pretty cool. I wish I could remember the game better, but it doesn't seem quite fair to compare it to chess. You could win Archon almost every time, even if your chess-playing was terrible, as long as you could out-fight the computer in the combat sequences.Had anyone played "Archon" (old computer game)?

ugh!! I hate that Yahoo chess interface. The board is tiny, I dont hear a "ding" after each move.
It's hard to even tell when the other guy makes a move.
It makes MSN chess look like Karpov's house.
This site has a board you can resize, and an easier interface.
Except you probably have to pay to get a reusable username.
And it takes a long time to load.

While it's true that the board won't resize, sound and 'last move highlight' options can be toggled on the left hand side. How high is your resolution to find that board too small?
Edit: You up for a game now? I'm guest3138 right now on the service you suggested.
