yesterday i had a shred session with alex again.
actually it was pretty good, even though i've got a pretty bad cold for a week now.
i got sick at "urban art forms", an open air drum'n'bass festival a week ago. it was impossible not to get sick, because the summer in vienna sucks really bad...ands while dancing i sweated like hell, and outside it was very cold.
however, i met up with rené, another austrian shredder, who started to play a short while ago, and who was at the exchange program in poland. we shredded there and enchanted lots of people. i was so glad that i was able to do all those weird things with the little bag. people couldn't believe what they were seeing, and asked me a lot of stuff about footbag and bought me some beer. 8)
.
.
however. so yesterday i played with alex in the "burggarten", a really nice park right in the center of vienna. usually there are lots of people, just chilling, playing with devil sticks, a hacky sack, frisbee, etc. i think because of summer holidays and bad weather not many people were there (normally the park is really crowded).
i had pretty good runs, the bad thing was though, that i had to take a break inbetween. i never take a break, and can shred for a long time, so that was very disappointing, but i was very dizzy and felt like everything was gonna get black soon. stupid cold.
i didn't hit a nice trick, but some good combos.
the day before yesterday i've also hit -fairy butterfly>diving clipper>blender which felt really stylie.
-bsos blender
-fear>fairy butterfly bsos
-fairy ss whirl bs
-flip fairy ss mirage>smear>plo>fairy butterfly
yeppp, recently i've been working on pixie and fairy shuffle. not a lot of stepping and symposium, because my legs are really hurting at the moment.

the highlight of the session was probably a new sick3. it's only 4>4>5, but pretty style in my opinion. if i get a camera, i'm thinking of submitting it to the modified sick3 competition!!

wow! 8O 8O long post. probably won't be able to play for a week now, since i'm going to different federal countries in austria.

Those were some nice combos yesterday, Verena. Props!!!

My legs feel a lot better since I don't do so much whirl, pdx whirl moves anymore. Maybe I did them wrong :?

Now I really like drifters.

I have to leave for a session with Hanna and Daryl :D

My last session was 3 days ago :? I had the chance to kick with Daryl from Munich who made a stop in Vienna after the camp in Croatia. It was fun although none of us were really fit.
He was close to some new tricks, which he'll get in the very soon future

After realizing my runs sucked pretty bad that day I decided to try some new tricks and surprisingly I've hit:
Nuclear ss dyno
fairy paradon
:o :) :D :D :D

and fairy legovering stallberger or whatever it's called, not really hard but fun

weather still sucks :(

wow. first post in a *while*.
.
.
so i'm still playing footbag.
now i've been playing for a week, but before that i couldn't play for two weeks. i had a really bad tonsilitis and the antibiotics that i got didn't work at first...
however. today i had a session with alex, bernhard and schubi. it went pretty good. like my legs were hurting from playing yesterday, but finally it felt like i know what i was doing and my legs finally felt like they were part of my body and not just some sticks somehow connected to my body.
still my flip torques are really bad. before those two weeks that i had to take off, they were getting really good and now i've got some problems with them.
nevertheless i was happy that i hit pixie- and fairy drifter. also i hit fairy drifter after a decent number of other tricks. the bad thing is that i sealed it to toe stall. :? so no midstring fairy drifter.
then i hit reverse swirl>ripstein>torque. i think i've hit that before though. like a couple of months ago.
besides that nothing outstanding. i tried to hit pdx reverse torque again after i had it on my foot yesterday. i didn't manage to hit it though. it's so hard for me to do that illusioning dex clean.
any tipps on that trick would be highly appreciated.

i'm so very tired. today we had a footbag-show at the austrian street soccer cup. so yesterday and this morning we (ali, alex, hanna and me) practised for our show.
the show was completely fucked up, but nevertheless the people liked it. tomorrow we're gonna have another one and hopefully it's gonna be better.
.
.
after our show we played for another couple of hours and the first 15 minutes i really played very, very well. i didn't hit anything new, but i had such nice and long runs. like runs starting with fear>fairy whirl>torque and really lots of nice stuff. i can also remember pdx whirl>pdx torque>pdx whirl. i also hit atomsmasher to start a run with.
after the awesome 15 minutes i still played well, but not that good. however, i really enjoyed playing.

one of my new favourite tricks is pixie swirl now. it feels so stylie. i love tricks like fairy clipper or pixie clipper (without plant).

Hey Verena.

I really enjoyed shredding with you at Worlds. I just had to comment that I am inspired by the concept of "enchanting" people with footbag. I think that will be my goal from now on, when playing in front of crowds. It seems a lot more challenging, and more rewarding, than simply "impressing" people. I also hope to one day have people buy me beer for my footbag skills.

Oh yeah, you were in my dream last night. It was the second to last night of Worlds (which I think were in Denmark, but may have been in Finland), and I was at a party with Tuukka, Lise, Mikko, and some other European players. You came in from another room, and you had obviously been playing footbag. You said something like: "I shouldn`t be shredding tonight because I have finals tomorrow." And I commented: "never EVER complain about being in finals. I`d kill to be in finals."

Weird eh? Probably happened because you popped into chat right as I was leaving to go to bed. Anyway, good luck in finals next year.

Our second show on sunday was waaayyy better than the first one, although our legs were really tired from practicing and shredding the day before. We also got an appearance on TV for some seconds. They showed me and a bit of our synchro-part. I didn't see it. What tricks did I do, Verena? How many drops, since I dropped liked every second move on the Saturday's show

Now it's time to practice for the Austrian champs. I did my routine just three times. Best was about 6 drops. That's very good for me, though my routine is technically pretty easy. Lot of twos and threes, some four adds. Also need to practice shred 30. I have never done it and 30 seconds seem pretty long for a heavy-smoker like me  :(

really looking forward to AFC 05 :!:

Yesterday was the first training in the gym. Feels like the summer is over :(
My legs felt really sore after 30 minutes of playing, although I took two days off of footbag. The floor there really sucks, or is it me, I don't know :?
Practiced my routine 3 or 4 times and the start of my shred 30. We'll see in two days if it was worth is :)

I also made some drills, mostly stepping stuff. I hit my first flip diving butterfly and it was midrun in this combo which I also hit the first time:
diving butterfly > duckin butterfly rpt. :D
I was really :o

I also set two new records for me:
19 ducking clippers
4 or 5 ducking butterflys

Tomorrow the Austrian Champs start! I'm so stoked!!! Expect a short report in a few days.

@matt: thanks for the comment!! hope you are well too... :)
@ken: thanks for the comment as well. it's so cool to get comments in our blog. i also really enjoyed shredding with you. about the dream: the night you had your footbag-dream, a lot of footbag players were also in my dream. the only difference was that i was dreaming of an atomic bomb. it was very scary... :x.

.
.
yeppp. so on sunday we had this footbag-show at the austrian street soccer cup again. this time it was a lot better. our synchro part (ali, alex, hanna and i) worked very well. also my synchro part with ali worked well. as last trick ali and me hit ps whirl. we both hit it. :D (i was really close to missing it though...)
later that day we shredded for a couple of hours. i didn't play as well as the day before, but nevertheless not bad. again i loved doing fairys, and hit combos like flip ss fear>ss fear>fairy butterfly>run. also i did lots of pdx whirls...my flip pdx whirls are getting really good and consistent.
i also had a run with fairy torque, pixie torque and pdx torque, dropping on pdx blender.

on tuesday i practised my routine. made my mom and my sister watch my routine.

yesterday we had our first session in the gym. the floor there is really bad. after 5 minutes my legs started to hurt really bad. i managed to hit 81 osis' when warming up. that's a new personal record for me.
because my legs were hurting really bad i couldn't really play. practised my shred and my routine though. my routine wasn't bad, it's not all choreographed (the last 30 seconds aren't), but it's a good song.
i hit a midstring fear>legbeater which is a good combo. the last minutes i tried to hit pixie drifter>pdx whirl, but only footed it. :x

today i had to take a break.

tomorrow i'm gonna be picked up at 10 am to go to linz. austrian championships!! yahoo!!
it's too bad that hania and daryl can't come!! damn it!!

my report about the austrian championships:

friday:
i got a ride with joseph and tommy (the freestyle disc player) and we arrived in linz at around 1 o'clock. i spent the whole afternoon preparing the players' packages.
around 6 o'clock joseph, our spokesman, told me that i should go to the main road in linz, take 2 or three people with me, shred like crazy, talk to people and give out lots of flyers.
so i took around 500 fylers with me, and got accompanied by rené (who later ended up winning second place in intermediate), peter (another shredder who took part in the intermediate competition) and tommy, the disc freestyler.
it went great. first i only wanted to shred for one hour, because i was already sweating like crazy after only shredding for an hour (because i was often playing by myself, because the others were talking to other people...and also i tried to have really long runs). after an hour tommy and peter left, and it was only rené and me playing. i actually wanted to stop, but then i continued to play, always with 20 flyers in my hands. i talked to a lot of people and got them really interested. it was great.
after playing for two hours we both stopped and went to the registration which was located in a bar where the after party was as well.
soon our international guests arrived. ian (yeah...australia representing!), stefan and max. later that night the car with the czech players arrived as well. it was a really fun night.
at around two or three o'clock we headed to the gym.

saturday:
i got up at 9 o'clock, because roman and me, joined by joseph, the spokesman, and chrisi, our footbag photographer, had to go to pasching (which is close to linz) and make a little footbag demonstration (for an hour or a bit less...can't remember) at a shopping mall, where kellogs is doing its kick contests at the moment. it went quite good. the organizers there kept telling the kids participating in the kick contest that if they showed their participation certificate at the austrian footbag championships, they would get a special surprise from us. great idea!
then we arrived at the "stadtwerkstatt", the club where the freestyle contest took place. i hung around for half and hour and then i had to start warming up.
i was pretty nervous before my qualification routine, because my last routines had all been really crappy. i did pretty well though. i had four drops and finished my routine with paradox torque. what i liked best was that i felt good on stage competing, like my legs felt good and not as tired as usually when competing. also, i started to really like my new routine music.
then i judged the open competition. alex had an awesome routine. so well choreographed!! big props for that again, mr. alex! ali was in the other pool and he also did well. he played nicely to the music. klemens also did well, because he had a really nice song.
then after another hour or so it was my turn again. as usually the competition wasn't on time and so i asked schubi when it's gonna start. he told me that after double freestyle there's gonna be a break, so i shouldn't be starting warming up yet.
okay.
unfortunately there was no break though. so i was super stressed, because i could just warm up for 10 minutes while the other four girls were playing (i was playing last).
also, of course i wanted to do well and defend my title. and i wanted to perform well in front of my parents (who came all the way from vienna with my sister and two friends of her), and my boyfriend's parents. 8O i never thought that all those people would be coming to watch me.
at this point my legs were really tired. it was already my third time warming up that day. :o
i did really well though!! yahoo!! i had three drops this time and also hit pdx torque as last trick. i would really like to see my routine on video. i'm still happy when i think about my routine, because my qualification routine was good, but my final routine was even better. it's so nice to know that i'm able to do a good routine again. :D :D
later i got to know that hanna also did really well, hitting a three drop routine.
yepp. then it was time for open finals. i was really curious whether the austrian champion was gonna be ali, the favorite, or not.
klemens was first, he hit a really nice routine. 7 drops and the best routine of his life. his music was great and the crowd went crazy.
then ali's turn. he used one of vasek's songs (which he knew well, because we had done lots of shows to this song), because he lost all his cd's. he also had 7 drops. the difficulty wasn't really high, but not bad either. the aristical interpreation was good, but not perfect either. not as good as klemens'.
okay. alex was up. he did really bad in the beginning, but then had like a one minute dropless. amazing actually. still 10 drops.
it was so frigin' hard to judge that.
klemens is our new austrian champion now!!
vice is alex and third place ali. really surprising results!
i would have liked to see alex winning, but 10 drops was too much!
.
.
okay. i'm getting bored now of writing all that stuff. but now i've gotta continue. ...

stefan did so well!! he did a three drop routine and the crowd went crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! really!! wow! it was so good. props, stefan. he won! ...and beat honza who did also well, but he had three drops as well, and we all know that honza can do a lot better.

.
.
then we had a pause for 2 or 3 hours. at 9 o'clock sick3 started. it was my fourth time warming up and i was completely spent at that time. i tried to hit my sick3 combo which is fairy whirl>blender>pdx torque, but couldn't hit it. it rolled off my foot twice.
later was shred30. i sucked, but so did everyone, except stefan and max.
then we did most rippin' run. it was a bad idea. the stage was very small and all of a sudden 8 or 9 people where shredding on there. all of a sudden i fell to the floor, because i did a pdx whirl but landed with my one foot on the other and sprained it. it really hurt a lot. fortunately i soon got lots of ice cubs and that helped me so much.
it's not a bad sprain, but my ankle is swollen and blue now. it's so stupid, because it was my las run of the day, and also i was looking forward to shredding for the whole day on sunday. that's the best thing about tournaments.
yeah. i hope that i can start to shred soon again, but it probably will take for a week, i don't know. and ian is vienna now as well!!

okay. i got bored now.
good night, modified!!

edit: @gravityfighters: thanks a lot for hosting such a cool tournament!!

wow, nice and long report! Thanks for your kind words to my routine. Unfortunatly I didn't see your routines. Hopefully they are online soon! And more hopefully your ankle heals soon :!:

Austrian Champs rocked! I'm too lazy to write a report now, but the trip back to Vienna was pretty strange and fun. I was driving with Ali in his fully loaded car. There wasn't even place for a sheet of paper!!! Well, we left Linz at ~21:45 and arrived in Vienna at ~1:30.

So after we left Linz we made a spot at a gas station to get a "leberkäs-semmel" and a coke. After 20 minutes on the highway, we stopped at a parking lot to take a nap of ~80 minutes. Ali haven't slept much the last 4 days/nights, because of organizing stuff, so sleeping was a good decision to come home more safe :) Next stop again at a gas station for taking a coffee. It was midnight. After the coffee Ali said: "Let's do something outside." Me: "Yeah, let's kick a bit!" So, after 5 minutes of kicking Ali changed to shorts to start shredding. I was still in my wide pants and unmodded g6, but we managed to pull off some good strings. We finished our 20 minute session with a 5add. Ali hit pdx torque and I managed to hit phoenix 8)
The small shred was really good cause now we weren't so tired anymore.
So finally we were in Vienna at 1:30 and I had to take the nightline to come home. So at the end it was 3 o'clock when I was falling in my bed. I'm glad I have no work this week :)

Listening to fm4 at the moment, waiting for the report about the Austrian Champs ...
