Nestle does Australia

Post by Jeremy »

Just thought people would be interested to know this. I can't give out too many details at this stage but Nestle (kit kat, baby milk, other products) is about to lauch a big footbag promotion in Australia. They're giving out free footbags in one of their biggest brands. There'll be lots of TV advertising and other advertising. Unfortuantly no footbaggers are involved in that (they got to us too late) but it's still great exposure. They will be arranging freestyle footbag demos around the country though (with Australia's best footbaggers and maybe some internationals).

The bags themselves are actually almost ok to freestyle with. They are 4 panel plastic pellet polyester bags. They are slightly too big in my opinion and too light. Also the material is not soft enough. However they're underfilled and being 4 panels have a lot of loose material so they are more than stallable. I'm yet to have a full shred with one but could easily do some barefoot stuff in pants when I pulled them out of the package :) I guess what I'm sayng is don't buy a nestle package expecting a good freestlye bag (buy them for the novelty and collect the set ;) ) but all the non footbaggers who get these bags will have a bag they can definitly learn to freestyle with.

Exciting stuff :)

I hope this gets freeestyle footbag a little more known.
They should do that in the US too.

Jeremy buy me one Nestle bag and bring it to Worlds next year :)

And that sounds great. It is great that big companies include footbag in the campaings. Sounds like you will get a lot more players in Australia :)

Too bad theyre not doing that in NZ as well. Are they doing it like the pepsi one in Japan where they had a pretty big collection of bags or just a few?

Are they by chance say doing school demos and running contests after school at local convenience stores and malls? Is there anything that says "russell promotions" anywhere on the posters or other stuff?

Go win the 4 basic kick competitions ;) Big prizes at the end if yea win ;)

dude Nestle are famous for selling baby milk - especially in Africa - of inferiour quality that leaves the children very mulnourished. I don't know the full story and it probably doesn't happen any more due to all the campaigning against it.

they did that once with kellogs in america they were like mini soccerball footbags, i think they were two panel but in my opinion they sucked and almost discouraged people cause they were impossible to control....just my opinion on it....but i have no idea how good the bags for the nestle ones are...if they're good bags then awesome.

The most important thing of all:

Will they be calling it hackysack or footbag?
Hopefully back one day.

footbag of course. It would be illegal for them to call it "hacky sack" without having to pay extra money to wham-o - which is probably something they don't want to do considering the bags are free...

Its true. I was brought up on that shit. Thats why I am about the same size as Henry G and I'm 24. 8O You don't get it that much anymore, so I have to import it from up north to feed my addiction...

I just sent this to announce at footbag dot org but thought I'd post it here too: I stress that if you are interested you should email me or you can telephone if you really like (but email as well). If I don't recieve an email you will not be selected (that means if you PM me I will not consider you)

---

Hello fellow footbaggers,

In October, Nestle Australia is launching a nationwide promotion
campaign involving free footbags in their Milo Energy Cereal (30%
Sugar :) ) and are also doing a series of freestyle footbag
demonstrations around Australia. - They are planning 30 - 50 demos
providing we have enough players. These demos will be paid for.

At this stage it looks unlikely that we will be able to provide
players to cover every demo - this is despite already contacting a
number of international players who will be giving the services.

For this reason I am looking for players with a high level of ability
who are interested in promoting footbag in Australia. Unfortunately
at this stage I cannot confirm the full details regarding how much you
will get paid, however it is expected that the overall costs of your
tickets, food and accommodation will be met. You would have to pay
for your flights over here but the money earned from the demos should
reimburse you. Obviously when I do have the information regarding
payments and schedules I will let all interested people know so they
can make a definite decision. I am fairly confident that due to the
number of demos and the timing of the event (being basically exam time
- meaning many of the local players are unavailable) it is probable
that you will even end up making a profit on the trip.

So if you're an experienced and skilled freestyle footbagger and
you're interested in basically getting a free holiday in Australia to
play footbag and do some travelling around the country you should send
me an email and footbag resume. I'm sorry for the very short notice.

Keep in mind I'm only looking for expressions of interest at this
stage too. When I find out the full details this week and work out a
definite schedule then I'll make a decision regarding the interested
people and be able to let all the players involved know exactly where
they are performing and how much they will get paid. (so if you're
interested but not sure if you can make the trip with such short
notice you should apply anyway because you won't be able to later).

There is no cut off date for applications but as soon as I have the
details I'll be selecting people so the earlier you can apply the
better your chances are.

There will also be a small jam in Hobart on the 12th of November
proudly sponsored by freedom footbags - http://www.freedomfootbags.com, ace
footbags - http://www.acefootbags.com and elemental footbags -
http://www.elementalfootbags.com where all international players are
encouraged to attend.
