Who else does diving backspinning?

Post by Tuukka »

Okay, I hit diving gyro mirage back in december 2002. I got it few times at Worlds 03 in Prague. Honza also hit diving spinning osis back then.
Who else can do this? At least Jorden can hit fairy diving backspinning stuff :)

I've hit so far

diving spinning clip/bfly/osis back in 02-03
diving gyro mirage/legover/pickup -03
diving mobius -04

I've come close to diving spinning whirl and diving vortex.

Still I don't do this set too much because it fucks up my neck.

Way back in the late 1990's Paul Mestes (thats right, THE Paul Mestes, inventor of Revolution Footbags and the Mr. Sandbag footbag, and Daryl Genz's sewing mentor) tried for a while to hit the Diving Mobius. I never saw him actually land it, though I saw a few very good tries. I don't know if he ever succeeded, and Paul's entire career of actually playing freestyle didn't last all that long.

Still, I could see that it was a really cool looking trick, and back then it was pretty huge (nobody had yet hit a 4-dex, and nobody had yet hit an 8-ADD, for example, and most 7's still depended on the Pogo ADD, which was controversial...).

Nice job Tuukka. Big props. Its too bad it makes your neck hurt. None-the-less, I hope you are ready to do a few for me next time I see you.

ehhh I've come really close to diving merkon. If I put some time into this set I think I could hit some stuff out of it on both sides. Now that the set's got some attention maybe I'll school it a bit more...

I saw Paul Mestas trying for diving mobius back at 99 worlds in chicago. At 2000 worlds, I saw Lon trying diving spinning stuff.

Ye, I hit it in fact there

here's the vid still online

I think Derek hit alpine mobius. Like spin first then diving then torque.

I was trying diving mobius before you Tuukkaa! In any case I stopped trying after you hit it. I still love diving spinning clipper or osis though.

Hmmm maybe I'll try diving vortex this weekend.

diving merkon sounds really hard! Props on that Paul - especially for a newish player I'm impressed!! Are you sure the dive was before the spin?

I thin I've hit diving gyro mirage - inspired by seeing Tuukka hit diving mobius - I tried that move too but it's definitly not my kind of move (I'm not great at dives, spins or torques :P). I think diving gyro whirl would be possible for me. It's a really cool set anyway :)

DAMN!
I thought I hit Diving Mobius 1st. Apparently not.

I named it Snake Bite. Tuuka, do you like that name?

Spinning after a duck or dive seems really sketchy to me, especially if you do not wait until the bag is moving down to start your spin.

I`ve heard that opinion before. I think Eli and Kenny were of that mind. I kinda see what you mean... I used to hit some ducking inspinning tricks, and they brought up that issue. Not sure how I feel about it myself.

Though when I started I thought spinning ducking was ducking inspinning, it kinda felt more natural. Now the backspinning feels a lot more easier than inspinning.
