I need help with my sets, I tried searching but that's too boring.
Genzu and Penske have been helping me out a lot, but I was wondering if you guys have anything.
Basically, my pixie sets aren't good enough, don't get me wrong I can hit them all the time, but not all the time.
Any help, new techniques I should try, besides "practice, practice, practice".

I've hit dimwalk, parkwalk, pixie-legover, and I pulled pixie symple legover out of my ass once.
But they're not as consistant as I'd like.
Sometimes I feel like I set them too high so that I can't do the second dex.
EDIT: I just hit pixie symple legover a couple more times but it was still pretty lucky.
PS what do you call that (pixie legover and pixie symple legover)?
edit: Spelling Symp. to Symple.

Pixie Legover is usually abbreviated as PLO, but doesn't have an acronym I'm familiar with.Chema wrote:PS what do you call that (pixie legover and pixie symp legover)?
Pixie symposium legover is impossible, just like symposium toe stall... sorry
If pixie symposium legover COULD theoretically be done (which it can't, just to reiterate), it could be called a backside PLO or a beta PLO, just to give an example of the use of frontside/backside and greek nomenclature to delineate the symposium dexterity in the move.

What I was calling "pixie symp legover" was this: Toe>same in[dex]>(no plant of setting foot) op out[symp][dex]>same toemitko wrote:what is that pixie symposium legover anyway, thats impossible unless your lending the bag rooted stile.
so the height of the bag depends on the support leg, the power comes from it, and you have to worry only for the clear dex on the setting leg.
If that doesn't make sense then; I mean that while I'm doing the second dex I keep my setting leg in the air, then as I'm toe stalling it I plant my setting foot. Maybe that isn't considered symp, but then what's the difference between that, and what I was calling "pixie legover" which is the same thing but I plant my setting leg before I do the second dex.
Mitko, what do you mean by "my support leg gives the power/height of the set" should I thrust my support leg up to set the bag or what?

dude nothing said here will be as much of a help as Penske and Genzu can be - Penske's one of the best footbaggers in the world and Daryl is a former world champ and very experienced with great skills. I say just play with them as often as you can and learn as much as possible from them. You have no idea how lucky you are to have such amazing teachers.

Yeah, if you try to make a pixie ducking using only your setting leg, you may kick your face, you know, just bend a little the support leg's knee and then you have to like jump whit it. Watch Honza on slowmo.

Dimitrov.
That couldn't be much more confusing to someone who is just learning footbag. Pretty much, when you thought you did a symposium PLO, it was really just a symple leg over. They look and feel symposium, but since the leg you stall with was doing the symposium dex, it pretty much dissappears and becomes symple. That too was prolly confusing. But for advice. I find that if you set the bag and pivot your hip outwards, your heel will point inwards while your toe points outwards. That gives a slightly larger window for you to get through.Sandwraith wrote:If pixie symposium legover COULD theoretically be done (which it can't, just to reiterate), it could be called a backside PLO or a beta PLO, just to give an example of the use of frontside/backside and greek nomenclature to delineate the symposium dexterity in the move.
What Jeremy said too was correct. You can't be any luckier than being in Boise being able to kick with them. Sunny, Genzu, and Penske all have unique styles. They have all been playing for a long time and have more experience than most footbaggers. So let them lead you in what ways they can, you've gotta do the rest.Jeremy wrote:dude nothing said here will be as much of a help as Penske and Genzu can be - Penske's one of the best footbaggers in the world and Daryl is a former world champ and very experienced with great skills. More C4 please <3
ah man, dave and jeremy are so right... holy hell, do you realize how lucky you are in comparison to the experiences of the rest of us, as being beginner footbaggers go? Penske AND Daryl AND Sunny and whoever's visiting them?!? Damn damn... I can only imagine how my game would be if I had guidance like that.
You've the some WORLD CLASS shit on your hands there, homes. Stick to those guys, and they'll tell you what's up.

My toe set for strongside is wonderful. I can probably set it a nice 4-5 meters up, even though that isn't necessary. My flipside toe set, however rarely goes above waist height, which severely limits how well I can do my flipside moves(The few that I can do strongside as of now, that is).
Around a month or so ago, I was shown a pixie set and I tried it with little luck. Around 2 days ago, something clicked in my muscle memory and I imagine the ATW as a Pixie set. I must be doing at least something right, then. Strongside at least.
Before, with the pixie set, the bag would go flying in some horizontal direction usually. Now it tends to go up...but it's severely limited in how far up it goes. I can do a pixie set and set the bag to approx. my waist level reliably. If I try to make the set more 'explosive' I end up either stepping on the bag or flinging it in some dark corner of the room to be found in the next 3 weeks.
Anything one can do about setting height?

umm until i saw a video or two i was doing pixies like a mirage but jumping over it and now i realise i am limiting my ability to do Dimwalks and the like.
Any tips with that because i can sort of do Fairy sets but Pixies are giving me troubles.
With sets i find that just doing Set after set for a couple of minutes then hitting ATW and legovers with the height you want helps with making your self know where you want it and how high you can and should set it. Also experimentation is a factor too. hope this helps man
