The thing that pisses me off the most is people who refuse to try because "I could never do that" - they're basically saying that they think your body is better made than their body - that you are physically superiour to them. I really hate those people. I have no respect for them at all. They just have no self confidence or character. I really think of them as pathetic people who I don't want to ever get to know.

I'm sorry Jeremy.

You're right. And the reason you'll never be able to hit a quad dex is because you have the attitude that you'll never hit one.

If you made it a life goal and started doing heaps of traing/cross training and got in the best shape of your life I have no doubt that you'd be able to hit one. I think that every person on this forum has the potential to hit a quad dex - the only thing holding them back is their attitude (if they are held back)

Getting good at footbag requires only 2 things and they're almost the same thing:

Dedication, Persistance.

If you have both of those you can do anything.

I wouldn't say only two things. You need your feet and legs too.

I'd say a head, neck, and torso don't hurt either. Arms are optional, but definately a plus.

Yeah a lot of kids I know that try to get into it just say "I can't" or something like that. But I mean, I'm in pretty bad shape, and I'm getting better. I dunno, I mean, sure being physically fit does help with the harder tricks, but that all comes with time. For anybody who hasn't started, just the right mindset is all you need.

Did you take too much sudafed or something?

Yeah I just don't want to hit a quad dex again. I mean, they're all the same, right? You read my blog title, and so that explains basically everything.

This reminds me of all the times when I wanted my friends to just play hacky sack with me for the fun of it, because we weren't doing anything else but sitting around somewhere. They always turned me down, saying, "I can't even kick it once," or, "I suck at that game." I love my friends to death, but all I wanted to do was have fun. And this was back when I was lucky to kick the bag maybe five times in a row before I dropped it. It wasn't like I was so much better than them at the time. But maybe they just weren't interested in the sport to care to get better and work at it, and I respected that. They aren't pathetic and characterless because they don't perfect in something they weren't interested in.

On the other hand, I think I wasn't following your point. I wouldn't respect a footbagger who turned him or herself down because a trick seemed too hard to do and out of that person's level.

I guess there's a difference in who you are complaining about.

People who don't want to play should say "I don't want to play" - that infers that it's their choice not to play while "I couldn't ever do that" infers that their body is weaker than mine and that they don't have the strength of mind to improve. "I could never do that" is the attitude of self defeat and low confidence.

just take eric windsors advice. footbag is "gay", the only reason to play is to get chicks, this sport has no future, it's a waste of life. don't play footbag!

The motto for footbag should be just try. Even in my early days when my spectrum ended at toe stalls and flying clippers i preached and would always say that footbag (hacky sack at the time) is all about trying to kick it no matter what, No matter how far away or how low no matter how bad the pass if you try you may surprise yourself and pull a nifty save right out of your asshole

Now its like just try whirl its hard but maybe if i just try i can do it and then it happens the trick you once thought you couldnt do is now a trick you can do not because you always new you were gonna hit it or because you trained or practice whatever amount of hours its because you were trying.

So just keep trying and you will surprise yourself :). 80 percent of the tricks i can hit right now are all ones i thought i would never be able to do. no matter what skill level your at when you kick, hack, shred, net whatever you almost always do something that surprises you everytime and thats what makes this sport endlessly fun those moments where everybody screams and you get that feeling that you just did something you cant believe you couldve done, It happens way to much to be a coincidence.

yo jeremy,

about what you said to dave... i want to respond to that.

I don't think Dave is weak of will, and that's why he can't hit a 4 dex.

Dave is a big dude. He doesn't have a traditional tiny little nimble footbag player's body. He works his ass off to hit tricks that probably came easier to you and me, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for that.

I don't know exactly where I'm going with this...

okay, I bet he could hit sailing dada curve or ss DLO if he wanted, now that I think about it, but, my point is this...

bodies definitely play a role, it's not entirely about your will. Guys like you and me are lucky to have spry little nimble uninjured bodies. Some people definitely could "never do that".

Attitude plays a huge role for most people, but not everyone.

Ug... sorry, this was kind of a pointless post... DAVE RULES!!! :o that's really my point.
