Thx, Jake. Grifter? Ooh... I'll try. Me and that move aren't aquainted yet.

Yesterday: practiced torques and drifters, broken up by helping family with stuff. Not too intense of a sesh.

Today:
Kamil called, and told me he was gonna kick in 20 minutes with his cousin. I got ready and met him at this grade school. These 6-8th grade kids were chilling there watching Kamil and his cuz when I arrived. They seemed interested. They were all swearing alot and playing with toy guns. They were talking about getting shot. It's really funny, because the neighborhod is nice; they're just wannabe gangsters. i told them I was 18 :lol: .

Kicked well, felt good. Kamil was playing awesomely. Even Damian seemed more balanced and playing better. I had one of those "I'm 15% better than average" days.

Kamil must be practicing, because he was playing so well today. Atomic set was way more controlled - just a little more oompf. I saw a good step set but he didn't do more. His swirl attempts were making me light up b/c they were so close, but I think it was just a warmup for me because then he busted the swirl out twice in one string. Super Clean...I love it. His hand hurt for hitting that move.

I hit:
pdx drifter>pdx whirl
torque BSOS :) not too hard but felt good
toe set swirl>torque
toe set reverse swirling toe>all-in-one symp blur
almost whirling rake
ducking xbd rake (flip (from left clip)) (first time)
almost frenzy a few times
a flurry with extra time to drink a cup of coffee in the time between the third dex and the toe stall
a couple good barraging sets
spike hammer
pdx barrage
2 almost ripsteins
blurry whirl>ripwalk I think this is the first time i stepped out of BW

Wow, i just cant wait to kick with you again! I rarely have that sentiment toward anybody, but for some reason when I read your blog, I'm inspired that you're pushing yourself to get so much better when most of the other old-skool CIC members have stopped progressing. keep at it Tom!

I went to my friend's bachelor party last night. didn't get much sleep...and i came to the jam 2 hours late. zeke was sick, the parking meters were all covered with no parking signs, we payed 13 dollas to park, and the spot was not as i hoped. I played like poo on barbituates.

On the good side: good sized turnout. saw the not-so-regulars josh, and reid. Happy to see shawn and nathan. Kamil and i rolled up there together. This guy tim was there...he looks familiar :) Jon Jon too.

The alternate location was pretty sweet, lot's of people checked us out.
I hope everyone had fun who came out. That is all I desire.

Long Sesh today. Didn't wanna stop. Normally, I'd be like, "Damn, I'm pretty tired and sweaty," and stop, but this time i was like, "Let me 20 of this move: ____."

6 ripsteins to start
I've learned another piece of the ripstein puzzle. Set higher. I just kept the bag on my foot a little longer, and hit this move easier than ever.

new drill: whirl>drifter repeat (only a few, bot even the whole thing once)
20 flip toe whirls
some xbd rakes
20 ducking clips BS (40)
20 flip swirls
20 drifters BS (40)
20 blenders BS (40) so easy today and always fun...i wanna do them always!

a little janiwalker practice: I got a barraging low butterfly kick twice, i think. I don't count it as anything except getting the set somewhat.

edit:
Some lady was walking down the alley while I was out there thrwoing out some shit, and she asked me if i was the guy who plays footbag. I told her I play alone at home, but with people around the city. She was happy to hear of all the places we kick, and said that she may see me at Navy Pier sometime.

It's just cool because I know people must see me in my yard sometimes. The fact that she was all interested and supportive was pretty awesome.

Dude, I'll be in surgery until 7pm. I can't get out any earlier than that. Do you have the maps printed out yet? I reminded Reile to have someone reserve a room and mention the West Virginia Jam to get the discount.

If you can, call my cell

10 swirls BS
10 drifters BS (20)
10 ducking clips BS (20)
10 DOD BS (20)
10 flip paradons (left leg dexing)
10 flip whirls (left leg dexing)

I never really did flip paradons, but I did them relatively easily today. Must be the DOD practice.

1 ripstein
hop over swirl (from left inside) first time (maybe)
20 swirls BS (40)*
10 barrage>DOD>barrage>DOD (40)**
20 ducking clipper>ducking clipper (40)***
20 drifter>drifter (40)
20 whirls BS

*5 in a row today! frozen in between. good side.

**I tried to freeze between every move. My flip DOD's were awesome today. It's usually my weakest in that "combo" but i almost never missed it today.

***I think I broke my record for this move today. I wasn't counting, but it was prolly around 10 in a row. I just ducked down a little more and that helped.

Thought of new combo: reverse swirling pickup>pixie something. I thought maybe swirl>reverse swirl>reverse swirling pickup too! Haven't tried yet.

I used my last pair of Lavers b/c I left my new ones in Reile's GF's car. They need more duck tape now...fuckin whirls. That's why i cut the sesh short somewhat.

Random
Zeke did a backflip off the diving board. It was so perfect. Like he was a diver. Zeke has so much inborn talent. He would be good at anything he put his mind to.

YESTERDAY
short sesh. schooled some stuff I don't remember. prolly drifters and whatev.

I got really close to symposium whirling swirl. so easy, but i didn't wanna waste my energy.

Hit pixie paradon! 3 times cleanly (to hand catch). That move must be scared of me now...cuz I'mma hit it again! So easy. Almost flipside, but my paradon needs to get stronger first.

Funny you should say this cuz I was feeling so suck-ass watching all the people shred at the WV Jam. I would have liked to actually shred more but the frustration got the best of me. I was seriously thinking of practicing (or just playing) more so I can at least do some strings at NYJ. I should. I will. I'll see you at Gompers tomorrow. With my Lavers---> no frisbee.

Cool sesh today. The location was a little desolate, but woulda been cooler if I had a bike.

2 ripsteins
pixie paradon
frenzy
symposium whirling swirl

I was tired. We switched bags and I snapped somehow. I did this long ass string. I kept hitting the moves...I kept expecting to drop, but it wouldn't. I figured fuck it, and tried a barroque so i could end the string. I did. The length of the string made me feel like a pro - like on the vids...lol.

Rode bike to park today cuz it was late and needed light. Hockey court has good light, but was filled with soccer players. I went to dead tennis courts. Fuckin lights not on. Still played cuz I thought they might come on.

20 ducking clippers BS (40).
10 spinning clippers BS (20).

I went to look for a better spot with more light, but couldn't so I went home.

My "flip" spin sucks so much ass. I got so dizzy. It is way past time that I learn to spin. I think I've taken care of the hair thing well enough. It doesn't come undone as much as b4.

~~~~~~~~
This summer has gone pretty nice so far. Kicked alot with Kamil. Kicked alot alone - learned alot. Shawn, Zeke, Lane, Nathan, Jerome, festivals, outtatowners, Mike, James, road trip, pre setup jams.
The bad side of this year was no Tim, Reile, or Dan. The damn core of the club. Reile's around more now which is good. I miss Tim. He started coming out, but now he's injured which means we won't see him for a while.
I really can't remember the last time I chilled with the guys. We used to all the time.
Listening to La Oreja de Van Gogh right now. It's nice how you can like a band and not even know what they're sayng.
Awesome day today. Met up at Welles Park with Zeke, Jon, Mike Marczyk, Nathan, Freddy. We freestyled, 4squared, then hit big moves/combos. We were there for 5.5 hours. We were telling lots of jokes and laughing. Totally awesome circle when that happens. The total opposite of how it is when you kick with people you don't know, and everyone is all quiet and it's a little awkward.
I was thinking of spinning clipper>stepping something for a day, and today I busted it. So fun! Spinning clipper practice 2 days ago helped. I hit
ripstein
pixie paradon
symposium whirling swirl
too. I thought of this combo: whirl>symp whirl (all-in-one)>symp whirl. Hit the first 2. Zeke mentioned trying drifter>ducking osis>something...hit the first two...I realized i could hit ducking osis pretty well. So fun! Ducking clip practice the other day helped. Runs were longish. Felt really good. Felt like a pro from the late-ish 90's.
I was happy to shred with Zeke. He played great today! Nathan hit ducking clipper. Mike came out!
i thought we were done, but Mike started trying tricks/combos. We joined. We hit:
atom smasher>atom smasher
toe blur>toe ripwalk
toe blur>toe blur
I hit:
toe blizzard>almost toe blizzard
DOD>DDD (double over down>down double down)
BLURRAGE
pixie paradon
symp whirling swirl
flurry
frenzy
Mobius
stepping torque
so close to Blurry Whirl>Blurry Whirl...no hand catch. no seal. So amazing to me. Usually it's hard to hit one blurry whirl. I had to put my mind into pro state, and my body followed suit. i felt like i was in a pro body; even if it was for only 2 moves.
I also tried this pdx miraging set. I actully got it somewhat! I was too tired to do it fast enough to get a 2nd component.
I hit a couple good barraging sets too.
My hands hurt afterwards.
Mike had a good ass terraging set!
Alot of fun was had. Afterwards, we layed down on the concrete and rested...talked about physics and the universe...then went home.
I had a dream last night that I went to California. I was suddenly there, knowing that I left chicago abruptly and drove down for 44 hours, but not remembering any of that. I found myself by some freestylers, and they were not expecting me, but I crept in till they noticed my lavers. No footbag was played.
Next, I was at one of the freestyler's houses. Emily was there! She told me Santa Cruz was 4 hours away.
I was feeling kind of weird because I didn't know where I was going to stay, but I felt more comfortable because Emily was there.
I recall Reile and Zeke showing up. They flew in. There was no visual for that. Just a fact in my dream mind.
Kicked with Kamil last week. Hit gyro dlo for the 2nd or third time ever.
Kicked at Navy Pier with 2-3 new guys. It was awesome. Just a hack session; no real freestyle. One of the new guys, ben, is so fun. He has so much energy and tries all these cool aggressive maneuvers. Oakes and Nick were cool peeps and good kickers. I hope they enjoyed the day.
Just started a sleep study. 11pm-7am sleeping. No naps except on weekends. One of my best friends got married.
I'm listening to La Oreja de Van Gogh, a spanish (from Spain) pop/rock band. I've been reading these little spanish comic books equipped with a Spanish dictionary and my intuitive linguistic skills :) in order to learn some spanish. I haven't listened to this album in a while (since I've been reading the comics/novellas), and now I'm understanding bits here and there that I didn't before. It's so awesome! I'm not even trying, just passively listening.
Oh...footblog...
I will kick in a few hours then edit this :).
:Edit:
Schooled in the backyard:
20 swirls BS (40)
20 spinning clippers BS (40)
20 ducking clippers (40)
20 flip paradons (right clipper) faster is better
I was playng with my new abshire! It's still not broken in yet, but I was able to use it for these single moves. I washed it afterwards.
I have this feeling of flip gyro clipper/mirage in my head. Like I keep feeling it. Maybe it's my mind practicing it. I'm having more of that lately. A few weeks ago it was gyro clipper>step. I used to have those back in the day when we first started playing. I haven't had a twitch in my sleep in a while, though. Like when you're sleeping and your legs try and hit a move.
I made some pancakes and eggs this morning. I've become quite efficient at it, and it no longer takes a long time, and so it's practical to do every morning. But I don't wanna cuz all the butter. I gotta get some cereal...it's healthier.
Yesterday, I was talking on the phone with my Giff when she said, "I gotta go shred." I was dumbfounded, but then came "...some papers." I was laughing.
10 ducking clippers BS (20)
10 spinning clippers BS (20)
10 swirls BS (20)
2 ripsteins
10 drifters BS (20)
10 flip DOD
10 flip eggbeaters
10 torques BS (20)
10 atom smashers BS (20)
frantic butterfly attempts...hit it, but didn't really low..doesn't count
swirls, ducking clips and spinning clips were super easy today. finished them in 20 minutes or less.
drifters were bad.
torques were on. i love it.
I almost never missed a DOD or flip spin clip on the ten
atom smahsers were crazy...end of session...sweating like a madman...not taking rest...pushed on till i finished.
