Yesterday was aaaaaaaawwesome. We took the Caltrain down to Palo Alto, where Emily Cool-Chick (who is the coolest girl ever and I want to marry her), Jeremy and Amelia picked us up. We wined and dined at a creperie, then headed down to Stanford to kick.
I'm just gonna copy this from Emily's blog:

Jeremy played with Stephen while I played with Amelia who hit butterfly from op toe for the first time on both sides. Then we joined the rest of the circle which contained Steve Goldberg, Stephen Barnes, Ben, Jeremy, and Brian. Jeremy hit whirlwind, fury>symp whirl, cross body cloud freeze>half spinning infinity, drifter caught on cross body sole, whirr>torque, some shifty mirages, and some other stuff. I didn't play very well but hit datw both sides, osis>osis x8, and drifter>drifter. Dustin hit paradox whirl both sides for the first time , 4 ripwalks (2 was his previous record), stepping osis, and whirl>drifter>whirl. Stephen hit 17 ripwalks, blurry whirl, barfly bsos, lots of drifters, a few stepping ducking sets out of stuff midrun, came close to alpine blurry whirl, lots of great strings with stepping sets, and I don't remember what else. He'll probably write in his blog. Steve Goldberg hit spinning eclipse, sole>crossbody rake, outside set pixie clipper, outside set crossbody rake, and a lot of other stuff. Brian had some good runs but I'm not sure what he hit because I didn't get to play with for very long. Ben was hitting a lot of toe blurs, he linked a lot of ripwalks, eggbeater>toe dlo, and fast paradons. [And Ben hit a couple awesome blurriests]

Jeremy gave me a bag he made to deliver to Kyle, which I will do. It's a really cool color combo.

After all the shred and 4square was had, we went with Steve back to his place in Redwood City. I should mention that Steve had like a fully loaded, brand new BMW. We went to his house, which is big and awesome and amazingly high tech. He has like 4 satellite dishes, an insanely huge TV, and all these different boxes and VCRs and DVD players. Everything in his house is wired through his computer, which can be remote controlled (he can point a remote at his computer and turn on anything in the house). He has two 250gig drives, in which everything in his house is periodically backed up through. His toilet is electronic, and it has a BIDET.

And his shred room, OMG his shred room. It's huge, like the size of an oversize garage... really high ceiling. He made a custom floor to go over the cement. It's hard to explain; it's like a foundation, then several layers of foam padding or something, and then really fancy oak hardwood flooring or something on the top (it's like 3" thick). Then he has a perfect, huge slab of industrial carpet on the top (with a 2-square court in masking tape). He has lights all around the edges up top, angled so that they hit the ceiling and then reflect down into the room. That way, when you're looking down and shredding, you can't make out any shadows! (In case this confuses you, a big problem in footbag is that your body eclipses the bag when there's a poor light source, and you can't really see what you're doing. He's totally solved this problem!) He has an insanely nice Bose surround sound system in there, hooked up through his sattelite radio. So cool.
He also has all his servers in that room. Like, 12 computers on a cart and stuff. I kissed footbag.org.
Next to there I also saw the room that Ryan Mulroney stayed in for like 3 years. Ryan is a furniture designer too. Ryan built his whole room as one contiguous piece of furniture. His desk and bunk bed and shelves and EVERYTHING are all connected,and built into the wall. He painted everything and put amazing murals on the walls and the whole bit.

After that we went to Johnny Rockets and had a nice dinner. We gossiped about footbag and everything. How Vasek has a 26 year-old girlfriend and is completely whipped by her. How Vasek also is pretty bored by footbag, and probably won't even go to Worlds next year. I just typed up a bunch of enlightening stuff that Steve told me about Vasek, but it's pretty personal so I figured I should take it out. Let's just say Vasek was actually close to not even coming to Worlds this year. Crazy. I don't know why I'm so infatuated with everything Vasek does; he's so cool.

Anyway, we had a good dinner, and then took the Caltrain back home. I'm burnt as fuck.

I should have mentioned in my blog that Jeremy and Amelia helped me write that blog entry. There's no way I would have been able to see and remember everything on my own. I'm not sure but I think Steve's toilet is normal and it's just the bidet that's electronic. More than anything, I find it intimidating.

That's what I figured. His toilet does light up and stuff though, too.

-I thought of some more stuff in the shower, but I can't remember what they were now.

By the way, that was the most painful shower ever. I never get burned in Denver, so I figured I really wouldn't get burned in San Francisco (a mile further from the sun). But I was wrong. I was very, very wrong.

Just wanted to jump in and say Stephen is rocking shit hard these days! He was using some brand new lavers today (frustraterfic!) and still managed to throw impressive style all over the place. I want to see that 10 tripless next time! And that stepping legover > smoke business. Lordy!

I witnessed Stephen's first SIX today! Fool hit Mullet, sealed with an osis, and then threw a blurry whirl in the same string. I also saw blurriest BSOS, both really clean. Way to go ST3!

And I witnessed KYLE hit spinning pdx whirl>pdx torque>pdx blender first try, the flipside of which just barely rolled off of his foot. There were also tons of great strings, all with perfect form and style. Not to mention a slew of other sixes.

Perhaps I should change the name of this to Denver Footblog? Eh? And what's ST3 mean? It sounds like a cool nickname.

P.S. I sealed tomahawk and scorpians tail, too. I'm also really bad at shuffle.

Steve = S + t + eve (3 letters) = ST3. I got that from the movie Houseguest, a delightful romp featuring Sinbad and the immortal Phil Hartman.

I forgot about that scorpion's tail/tomahawk action, that was great.

You can make this a communal footblog if you'd like. I can try to post stuff that Hill and I hit (since he's the only other person I play with regularly).

Spose I'll post some about some recent sessions...

Played with Hill back on Monday. Kind of a rough go for both of us. Hill gets better each session, though. He hit atomic legover for the first time, and I saw some nice stepping stuff like ripwalk>ripwalk and a blur out of nowhere. I think I was doing a lot of swirls and spinning like I usually do when I'm having a bad session. I need to get in better shape so I can rock some longer strings...

That being said, I had a nice skool session last night. Listening: Stereolab - Cobra and Phases Group Play Voltage in the Milky Night. Great disc for a session!!! I'm working on this 20 genuine string that goes ripwalk > blur > dimwalk > drifter > pdx. illusion > drifter > whirl > spinning clip > ducking clip > gyro clip > repeat. Came close a few times and will hit it soon for sure! Also working hard on my stepping set. Got 20 ripwalks, and hit pdx. whirl > stepping clip > drifter > ps whirl on both sides. Other fun busts were the drifter > torque > rpt. drill and some smp. whirling swirls (close to both sides). I was also working on this 10 tripless to get in shape: sidewalk > blur > parkwalk > ripwalk > sidewalk > blur > parkwalk > ripwalk > pdx. whirl > pdx. whirl. Hit that a bunch of times and it made me feel good.

ST3, are you down to sesh this weekend?!?

that's 18 genuine. drifter from toe and drifter from clipper are considered the same. that's one sickass combo though.

Kevin is right tho, I think I should replace the extra drifter with something else to make it a certified 20. I'm thinking legbeater or toe ripwalk...those are both fun.

Which TOC day is best for you, Stephen? Dude, there is nothing better after a hard day of shred than funnel cake...FUNNEL CAKE!!! Can't wait!

I have nothing planned this weekend. We can do multiple days if you'd like--er, if my knees would like.

I've never even been to TOC. Are there any good spots to kick?

edit: Actually, Sunday or Monday would be good. I think I have to help my dad with something tomorrow.

I went down there today just for the food and to check it out. Sadly, I didn't stay for Foghat (we had a running joke about standing near the stage and hounding them to play "Slow Ride" over and over...), but I did have some excellent munchies. Had a "taste" of vegetable pakora, sweet corn, pork empanadas, rib tips, shrimp po' boy, mini doughnuts, shrimp tempura, and of course some funnel cake. Intense!

I scoped a good shred spot right in the middle of civic center park (between the greek ampitheater and colfax). Nothing is set up there, but there are lots of people walking by regularly. We can pretty much play anywhere though, as long as it isn't a major walkway. I'd be down to play for a while tomorrow (Sunday) if the weather is nice again. I'll talk to Hill and see if he wants to come and make it a solid three man circle too.

Oh my god, I was wanting to do the same thing! I found out yesterday they were going to be playing, and I had the song stuck in my head all day! Unfortunately, I only know that one part of the chorus, and it was just looping, over and over, all day long.

Anyway, yeah, I'll give you a jingle.
