Freedom and Flipsider -- servers down

This is just a public notice that my hosting provider has gone completely insane and imposed ridiculous bandwidth restrctions on Daryl and Eli's site accounts with zero notice.

So, this effects both freedomfootbags.com and flipsider.com -- they are both currently completely down. When they come back up, the video galleries will be offline until we can move both sites over to my new server that has rational bandwidth limitations.

I hate this business sometimes

I'm considering threatening legal action, but it's probably more trouble than it's worth.

Oh man. I hope things work out for the better, since I'm expecting the new shipment of bags that Freedomfootbags has in store sometime soon, and Flipsider's remodeled site.

Gotta hate red tape. That is such bogus BS. I bet if you had an ad for the host on both of those sites, they would still be up.

No money for them, no videos for us.

Well, fortunately, I was getting tired of some of the other technical limitations they were imposing on us, so I was in the process, already, of preparing another server (with another company) for a transition.

It was just a transition that I wasn't wanting to make for another few weeks at least. This really only speeds that process up - which really sucks for me because I don't really have the many hours it's going to take to make a proper switch at the moment - what with going back to school in September and my other clients wanting work done ... but I'll stop crying now

As of about 20 minutes ago, The ShredShop is back up and running just fine. Flipsider is still down though, as Eli has a life outside of all of this and I haven't been able to get a hold of him yet.

I gotta get back to it.

Hey Allan,

Are you using a lot of back end processes that need to be re-configured when you make the switch, or is it just a matter of having the time to make the switch?

Just curious, you seem to know a lot about the back end of the Web, so I was curious if it was the programming that was a btich to move or not.

It shouldn't be too big of a deal to move it - I'm not doing anything super complex. It's mostly just the time involved and redoing all the config path's and such. If I just sit down and do it, I can likely do most of it in an evening. I just usually like to spread my time out more evenly.

That's what I figured. I so stopped supporting blurryworld, even though its my own site. Cause damnit, I got better things to do, higher priorities, and I'd at least like to shred some too.

Still (as good an opportunity as any), any news on how the new flipsider website is comming along? Eli?
