shred / Worlds writeup...
I played for a little over 2 hours today. I did 258 infinities first try (new record!) during which I experimented with switching between two different breathing patterns... I would go from inhaling as the bag rose and exhaling as the bag fell, to inhaling for one whole infinity, and exhaling for the next one, so basically double time and single time. It was good to switch, because the other day, around 200, my stomach was starting to turn and I felt queasy at the end, but slowing it down a bit here and there allowed me to stay relaxed and keep going. I'll be over 300 soon, I know it.
I then spent the next 2 hours working on spinning, with no results whatsoever, as far as I can tell. how frustrating. I just kept losing my balance.
I wish I had awesome pictures from my Europe trip like Tom does. Luckily, we were together for most of it, so a lot of the shots he got are like ones I would have taken, and I'm in some of the pictures, too... but it's not the same. it's my one big regret from the trip. That, and not writing more (not writing at all) in my journal. It was such an amazing experience, I just wish I had those personal souveniers. I'll have to do better next time. It really burns me inside to think of the happiness I'm missing out on by not being able to rip out my camera and flip through it and see all the people I fell in love with and now miss. Maybe I'll just talk about it for a while.
So, I already wrote about my vomitous airport sprint... after the subsequent flight, I arrived in Wroclaw and Piotr picked me up and guided me to the exchange. We talked a lot on the half-hour bus ride, and his friend had a shirt that said "yeah, yeah, whatever. I want head, not grief". he didn't know what it meant, and when I told him, he thought it was pretty funny. I got a headache trying to read polish words on signs and whatnot on the way there.
We arrived, and I checked in. I got up to my room, and it was Patricia S's room as well. We said our hellos and I unpacked my bags and whatnot and headed out for shred. I hopped into a circle with Dylan Fry and Damian Piechocki (whose name I'd been ridiculously mispronouncing, i found out. It's not pee-CHOCK-ee. I can't even write it with English phonetics). It took me a while to get used to my climas (I had only really been using them for a week, and I didn't bring Lavers) so I wasn't playing too well. I bummed around for a while and met Szymon Kalwak (Ners on this here forum) as well as Rafal Kaletta, Hania (who looks smaller in person), and some others. I did some barefoot shred for people and hit some good moves like torque ending on flapper and probably some monkey paw reverse wraps and ps whirl and whatnot.
After shred, we headed out for some dinner at the student dining hall, which was total crap. I ended up getting Patty to give me my money back for that, which was cool by her, because it wasn't her money. The whole exchange was government sponsored, which i think is rad. I've gotta get that kinda nonsense going here in the states. Anyway, we hung around and I had a beer, and Austrian night at the exchange started, basically an Austrian culture fest set up by Ali Dastrandj. They had a little play which involved two newbs from Austria (who later became awesome friends of mine and their names have slipped me now) ordering sausage from another austrian, and slapping Denise's ass. That was pretty cool.
Then they gave us all beers, and then red bull with vodka. Then I got volunteered to represent North American in musical chairs, and I was given more shots. Then, I represented north america in a pants shred versus honza, which I lost, so they gave me another shot. Then, I went over to the bar, and they gave me another red bull. So, I'd had a bunch of shots and some beer and a few red bulls, so I was feeling like a spun duck.
Then Tom showed up! Yay!!! Tom made it! I still don't know how he got there.
Then, Ali tried to teach us all a few old school Austrian dance moves. Dylan Fry was my dance partner, which was pretty fun. he's a fun guy, we were acting like asses. Ali even got a little pissed at us, so we pretty much behaved for the rest of the dancing. Then, we went back into the dining hall to eat pancakes and pretzels. I was sitting across the table from Dylan while we ate the pancakes, and Ali sang a song on guitar. i started getting pretty bored, so I picked up the candle from the table and started dripping it across the bowl of pretzels, and then onto the table, and then on my hat (where it remained streaked down the side like huge vile cum stains for days), and then down my shirt and on my pants. Yves Kreil looked at me like he was totally disgusted, as did the girl next to him. I felt pretty shameful about that, so I stopped waxing myself, and pretty much behaved for the rest of the night.
Then, Tom and I went outside and smoked a joint and made it back to the exchange, and then we drank some more beer that Dylan Fry gave us, and played songs at the tennis court, and smoked another joint.
and that was my first day in Europe.
It's hard to piece the rest of Euros together in order, anyway... maybe I'll try and do that tomorrow. I might not get it in order, but I think there's a bunch of stuff I can remember. Lise... phone debacle... Jacob... hash... steak and chicken for breakfast every day... LOTS AND LOTS of energy drinks... hat stalls...
there's a LOT to get through. I look forward to it.

hahahahhaha, that was a much more entertaining description than before. How embarassing. hahahahaMatt Cross wrote: I was sitting across the table from Dylan while we ate the pancakes, and Ali sang a song on guitar. i started getting pretty bored, so I picked up the candle from the table and started dripping it across the bowl of pretzels, and then onto the table, and then on my hat (where it remained streaked down the side like huge vile cum stains for days), and then down my shirt and on my pants. more! i want to hear more!
and when exactly are you going to be in town this weekend? sunday? I doubt I can hack at all in the next few days, but if I knew the temporal coordinates, then maybe.

Glad you're into it, Tom... can't wait to write up a bunch more. That was a lot of fun to go through.
Chris, I'll be in town starting tonight around midnight. Shred is tomorrow, starting at 11:00 at the Cobb's Hill tennis courts. Paul and Mike Anello and a super secret guest will be there! It's gonna be a sick session. We'll definitely be filming. Hope to see you there!

So about this funtastik thing. Does Rochester all want to get a room together or are we each fending for ourselves? I know that Paul is giving me a ride with his brother, and sara might want to come too.
Matt, Aric? Are the rest of you set with that? Is anyone else going that needs a place to stay?
Oh, I just read the footbag.org event page, and it says the discount is only available if you make a reservation before the 4th. Damn. I'll call today and see what I can do. Might as well reserve a room now since I can always cancel. Let me know if you guys want to room together.

Sounds great. I reserved the room and it'll be 76/night plus tax. We'll work the money thing out each night individually-- your system worked great last year. And I'm sure we'll pick up plenty of roomless vagrants along the way. I want the other bed.
I am assuming that nobody's going to arrive friday night? Since nothing's going on except net until saturday afternoon, I only got the room for sat&sun nights.
It is a smoking room on an upper floor. I asked for a poolside room, you know, one on the ground level with the sliding glass door for easy access to everything. But they're all nonsmoking and only have 1 kingsize bed instead of 2 queens.

Paul and I are most likely staying in the Roch room (I hope). I will take floor because it's cheaper and I'm quite short and I don't mind sleeping on floors. I can't wait, I'm getting a digital camcorder for my birthday so I can hopefully make a funtastiks video and post it on modified.ca.

hey. this thing hasn't been getting many replies lately so I thought I'd update.
I got back from Funtastik at about 10 or 11 pm on monday night... talked with Mike lots about politics-type stuff like race and identity within Society on the ride home, and that was interesting. This weekend was awesome. The only regret I have is that we weren't able to get that group of cheerleaders or whatever, who apparently were staying at the hotel, to come party with us. But I didnt see anybody like that, so their existence may have been a rumor. Oh well. Cleaver owned; I want to direct my shred more towards his style. It's extremely tight. Bevier definitely hit my favorite runs in the tourney, along with Nasty. He deserves his own post here describing his style. I liked playing with Greg Nelson the best though because he made me want to hit all my Unorthodox stuff that I was working on, but I'm disappointed that I didnt venture much into that-- since I've been working a lot on putting knees and flyers and dragons into my game lately.
Uh, so much more to talk about... the Ministry, with all its AWESOME people, hanging out with Tommy, kicking with Caleb, Hood, Josh, Adrian, Pipenberg, and so many others, and having he extreme honor to play with Pete, Jon, and to foursquare with Goldberg, even Vince for a little bit. Met lotsa new people too. Chris (Xain?) with the rakes had pretty cool style, and Scott (was that your name?) who was hitting toe drifters for the first time on Sunday night, and pwning foursquare. And it was nice to see the NYC crew... I forget most of your names though sorry. There's so much more to say about the individuals I did and didnt name but I can't right now. I could wrie a lot more about you all but I'm not gonna.
And of course it wouldn't have been a footbag event without the Rochester guys-- Mike, Paul, Aric, and party animal Matt (and RFA ally Will Digges: master of pure awesomeness). We represented well.

last night, there was a cool session with Paul, Mike, Steve, and I at the Cobbs Hill Tennis Courts. My hip was still feeling kinda sore from funtastik, but I've been stretching it today, and that helps some. I hit an interesting combo on request from mike, stepping op frigid infraction > quantum butterfly. I also hit blurry whipwalk and some cool strings. Mike's style was looking sharp and clean and tight. I hope we can tape next time and make another cool video.
Footbag rules... I've played SO MUCH in the past year.... It's nice having a crew in Rochester that loves to play and to go around to tournaments, when there was none before.

So yah its been a while since i've posted in here, mostly because i haven't been playing much.
Session today with paul and chris, not a bad session. Had lots of people watching us, and this one guy, Vincent, stayed around for about 15 minutes asking questions and seemed really impressed and interested, which is always cool.
Highlights:
missed blubberman by a mirage yet again... it will be mine soon
and for some reason fairy half clicked today, mid-string fairies were amazingly easy! i only missed two midstring fairy atempt. once trying fear after my first mid-string fairy (fairy beater). then i hit fear>fear>fear but it rolled off my foot. so more fairies in the future for me.
then to close out the session i finally hit ripstein.
Overall the session made me feel pretty good, but still in a shitty mood due to my girlfriend breaking up with me again last night. Really confused about it right now, and angry, and sad, and somewhat relieved... but that's to be expected with the wierd relationship we've had over the last 4 years...
KICKASS in a month, although not too excited yet... i can feel it coming and i know mosher will throw an event that will cure all that ails me!

yeah the session today was definately good. i dont remember too much except that i hit PLO>PLO>PLO two or three times, and a shitload of midstring atomic sets. i hit couple of flip taps midstring, tap bsos and a phoenix on command from chris.
muted tapping guay>neo muted clipper was a cool link
so was atomic muted clipper>far guay.
i cant remember anything else.
it was fun, but then footbag always is.
i also got these two guys interested in footbag in the gym later that evening when i was killing time before the pool opened. they both had good bag control for hackers, it wasnt all wild and out there, they kept pretty calm and when i told them to go both sided, they handled it just fine, i think that they will definately start playing, they were totally psyched and amazed for/by footbag and i got their numbers and they want to play. so thats 3 dudes from RIT in one day that want to play! yeah!
