1) Because I find it more exciting to hit tricks with this bag.

2) Chasing a ball around for hours on end with no points is something my dog enjoys doing.

3) Why, have you ever gone to a soccer game ? Can you name one soccer player to score a goal in the last month ? Why would I want to switch to an equally obscure game with no money, no support, and no fan recognition ?

4) I'm not sure, why don't you play the flute ?

1.) Cause soccer sux! :D
2.) Cause you sux for telling me that I should play soccer.
3.) Cause footbag is not soccer.
4.) Cause soccer balls are too large to link my combos together.
5.) Cause there are too many rules in soccer.
6.) Cause Pele doesn't play footbag.
7.) Cause Big Tricks are more impressive than hard kicks.
8.) Cause I like individualized sports.
9.) Cause I can play footbag without a soccer field
10.) Cause I don't have to share my time with a footbag with a whole team if I don't want to.

I always say because I have no trouble keeping a ball off the ground, keeping it on the ground is the problem.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

I always say that (I) :

- want to have fun and not try to harm as many foes as possible

- don't want to play a sport where money is more important than fun and the sport itself

- most people playing soccer aren't very intelligent however footbag players often are learnt intellectuals who can also talk about other things than the red card which was absolutely unfair

- don't think that footbag and soccer have anything in common apart from dealing with a ball which is furthermore neither the same size nor the same weight !!

- don't need an expensive coach to practise what I do almost every day more than 2 hours

- don't need a referee to tell me whether my move was "the" or not and actually nobody couldn't care less as long as I don't compete against anyone else (what is very seldom)

- the sport itself is somehow artistic ..when you see a skilled footbagger it just looks cool...but when you see skilled soccer players it's just boring and most of the time they are shouting at their teammates and or lying on the floor acting like they are seriously hurt

- that the connection between all footbaggers around the world is amicable and you get help from anyone if you need it...soccer on the other hand ...well are there any teams which have got something like a friendship at all ?

- that a footbag can have very different styles and a soccer ball is just boring and mostly the same color

- that a footbag doesn't hurt you even and perhaps most if it hits your intimate zone

etc. etc. etc.

I love footbag (and I will play it with whoever that wants to shred along with me wherever, whenever !) but I only play soccer with my friends for fun

well i DO play soccer and enjoy playing competitive soccer just as much as i do footbag (but its different type of fun than freestyle.) just fot those of you who think soccer has no support and no fan reconition,..... soccer is known more world wide than (any) other sports.

Plus footbag is not a team sport like soccer unless you consider shreddin in a circle as a "team".

But you cant play soccer everywhere with little space like you can with footbag.

So just dont rag on soccer........... thats all i ask

I'll admit, soccer has quite the large fanbase...around here at least. Friggen people with their flags and all this...

Unfortunately, it seems that soccer is the source of conflict between many people (I think we've all seen two patriotic people argue over soccer teams) and a simpler version of racism. Footbag is a source of meeting new people and learning new stuff.

No relation at all.

I totally agree!! There is a reason that it is called "the beautiful game!" :P I love soccer and when people ask me if I play soccer, I tell them yes, I do (because, I actually do play soccer)! :)

They are two completely different sports. I love shreddin. I also love soccer. Soccer is good cross training for footbag. Ryan Mulroney is one of the best shredders of all time. He's also an amazing soccer player. Maybe that's where some of that endurance came from.

Don't think this one really works outside of the US... ;)

I just wear my "I HATE SOCCER" badge and people don't ask the question :)

Actually I think soccer is cool though. I can't wait for the next world cup.

Love Soccer. Can't wait for the World Cup as well. I go head over heels just seeing how Soccer goes on worldwide. But, I feel much love for footbag, and I'll most likely stick to that.

Ironicly, while I was training a kid in the art of footbag around my college, I meet up with his mother and she explains to me how wonderful of me to train him in this pretty athletic sport. I tell her that he can use this leg training in freestyle for soccer if he wants to (I'm not discriminatory in my sports :)). She tells me "no," that soccer is too much trouble with managing teams, the soccer ball and paying for training courses, that playing footbag seems much more fulfilling for her son! Can you believe that!?

This sport may bring an evolution to what we know as "Soccer Moms."
