Street a component?

Talk about your big add moves and concepts in here.

Should street tricks get an extra add?

Absolutly. That shit's crazy.

Street a component?

Post by NotHisRealName »

Reading the thread about Rooted stalls, I came across a quote of Dizzy's.
You could take jumping off a bench and doing something on the way down as another example. I haven't given it much thought, but I lean towards calling that type of thing a zero add embellishment. It sure beats the hell out of trying to quantify it into an already lacking technical context.
Now, we could go on to discuss the relevance of the Add system in footbag, but I think that's been talked about till most are blue in the face.
Not to say that Street footbag hasn't been over-discussed, it's just that I've never read any viewpoints directly related to the add system with regards to street footbag.
So, I ask.
Should street footbag (ie; doing tricks off and over obsticals) get an add?
I think this is relevant concidering the evolution of the sport.
When we concider that flips might only be a few years away from being incorperated into a routiene, what about obsticals (in other words, street), which can already be seen (Check out Alan Haggert's ripwalk over a barrier, from flipsider)?

well, while on that thread I said that I think that it should get an add, it is not really relevent, BECAUSE, until dizzy wants to use it in competition, it will not have to be counted, and until then we can say what ever we want about it and it won't be official, nor necessary to be encorporated in system we all see as outdated though necessary.

I don't think it should get an add as of yet. I'm sure when street becomes commonplace it will have some kind of scoring for it...probably along the line of presentation points and use of the *street stuff* if we ever have street comps. It's still way badass though, I'm to scared to do a spikehammer off of a bench :)

playing with obstacles is cool, but I don't see why there should be an extra ADD for it. at least at the moment.

It shouldnt get an extra add, why do u need an extra add. Most of the players who compete are good enough to not need an easy add. Extreme sports have street and vert but u dont get any extra points for doing them.

I would say ... just apply the BOD add to street. You're in the air, technically.. that's not cheating it at all or anything? Is this a good insight? I don't think it should get a seperate add though, but... you're in the air, so you'd get a BOD add anyways I think. In jobs maybe (I'm a pioneer!) it would look like this:

For a street trial-mirage:
Set>Same In (street) [DEX][BOD]>Op Toe [DEL]

What do you think? I think that's fair.
*EDIT* I wanted to clear up that maybe... (street)... should go in front of a move done off something or such.. because otherwise you could argue that multi-dex moves get multi-BOD adds, and I don't think they should.

well, you'd have to be more elaborate than street in the panenthesis. Like Clip>DOWN STAIRS WHILE op in[bod][dex]>op toe[del]. or OFF BENCH WHILE, or UP BENCH WHILE, street won't allow you to know what trick it is and won't, yeah (train of thought derailed)

okay so here's what you can have...

Street Terms:
"Down While" (going down something while)
"Up While" (going up something while)
"Across While" (like a hopover across two boxes or a gap or something)
"Over While" (like in extras on flipsider.com... the ripwalk over the banner)
"Under While" (no examples yet because this hasn't been pushed [that I know of] but for a vision... if you had a pole, and ducked UNDER the pole while performing a move)
"Stairs While" (I have no idea... here was my original idea for "Down" and "Up" Whiles... if you do ONE dex going down, put "Down While", if say in the next dex, you somehow go back UP the stair or ledge or curb or whatever, you get an "Up While"... so for example:
Smear Going Down, Then Up Stairs (omg I'm getting excited about this):
Toe>(down while)Same In [dex][bod]>(up while) Op In [dex][bod]>Op Toe [del])

Now my huge question is, would you really want a smear going up and down stairs to get... 5 adds!?!? I dunno... if we add this type of shit into jobs, things may get confusing (or... MORE confusing). But this is my simplest-form of idea for jobs involving street. Please write back, I'd LOVE some responses. This actually opens a whole new world of footbag up to all of us. Let's embrace it!

*EDIT* After reading this I'm wondering if a smear up and down stairs is even possible for the human body to perform. Still I'd like feedback. Keep the ideas flowing!

So Matt it would be (in street jobs :)):
Clip>Op In [dex]>(under while)[bod]>Op Out [dex]>Op Clip [del][xbd]

Hm.. maybe it shouldn't be under "while" since you can do stuff... maybe if the BAG is going OVER something it should be "Bag Over Object" or something. Because you're not really notating anything YOU do. well actually technically I guess this is really just ducking. Still, what do you think...

It would be interesting to get some other feedback on this. Especially from Alan Haggert (the father of street?).

I would love to hear what Dizzy would think. I like (duck (object)) better too.
