i dunno about anyone else.. but this bothers me a lil bit.. in that i used to make videos. Its kinda wrong to sell other peoples vidz. I know people copy mine and other vidz all the time.. but at least dont advertise it thats just stupid.

it's not wrong at all. This is exactly what retail is. The store buys from the company. And then sells the product to consumers. Most of the time they charge more for profit, but they can choose to sell for less.

I agree with Dan, but this bothers me a lot, so at least don't do it here.

He is selling his own copies that he bought right?

I see no problem unloading your personal stash of vids.

However, if these are pirated copies or something, then call the vid police cause that shit ain't cool.

__________Side Note about Videos_____________

When vids first came out there was one or two for sale by Footbag Worldwide:

Tricks of the Trade
Raw Shred

Then Tu and Tuan Vu came out with some raw comp footage - that rocked.

Then Ellis came along and pioneered the charge into shredders selling editted vids of footage they captured. He did a wonderful job too :D .

Later others began catching on and soon Eric Windsor, Chad D, Richard Abshire and others were selling vids as well. This was all good for footbag.

Later still when Blurryworld and Flipsider first came out videos were first starting to heat up as an internet commodity and soon Blurryworld and Flipsider were hosting footbags and videos of a bunch of different people.

Then came Freedom Footbags and MonsterHack. Both selling vids and footbags.

Most if not all of these sites at one point were selling the same vids as all the others. Basically either the websites were buying in bulk at a discount from the creator and selling them online. Or the Websites were hosting ad / selling space for the video creators to have a store front.

Personally I have hosted Chad D videos and Abshire Bags. Abshire use to pay a charge for my services, but today enjoys them for free, cause I'm such a nice guy -hehe.

I have seen over the years, many vids and footbags being traded and or sold through emails, forums, etc...

I'm just curious as to why you guys are bothered by it now???

I agree with selling videos on websites, but not on forums! I mean if you make a new video, of course you can send a teaser and tell where can people buy it, but this is different.
I can also say something like that it is good for the sport that you support the guys who make the videos that you buy new copy to encourage them to make new ones, which is really good for the sport, but whatever.
Just don't sell things on the forums.

Ahhh I see.

By teaser you mean???

Some Websites (no names) have links to footbags and vids and such in there signature. I use to have a link to my Website which sells Abshire footbags in my signature. I have removed it and made others that self promote feel bad about posting ads in their signature. So I am with you on the idea of not advertising on forums. But that is a form of a teaser, is this what you think is ok - teasing people with ads in signatures??? Looking for clarity of that statement.

I think this case is completely different. This guy is selling out of the sport. In other words, he does not intend on playing footbag anymore. This is not a store front or even an ebay style sale. He is simply getting out of footbag and has vids that he can throw away or make some random freestyler happy by selling the entire collection.

What is the difference between this guy unloading his collection of vids( that he has no intention of ever watching again, nor playing footbag for that matter, so he is not a competing entity, like the Website promoters mentioned above) and the other guys posting links in there signatures or boasting constantly about the bags they stitch?

At some point the line gets crossed.

IMO (just an opinion I promise) teasing someone with a signature that is posted to every post is more of a NO NO on a forum, than some random guy unloading his collection he no longer needs.

When I think of forums, I think of people talking to people. Like if I were to invite you over to shred or call you on the phone to talk about shred. We would be communicating. If I happen to have some videos I don't watch and that you have never seen, it would not be ill of me to sell them to you in the course of our discussions on the phone. What if it were a footbag party line where 30 people were talking at once, or better yet a CHAT?

When I see ads in signatures or read a post (no offense Doctor J, just using you as an example for this post) about a new stitcher, then I think business. Forum does not = business, forum = people talking to people.

So in my mind, a guy unloading his collection is ok even on a forum. But teasing people with ads in a signature or boasting about a particular brand of bag that you also happen to sell, is straight up business.

Do you agree?

Triiiangle, I'm not sure if you'll have any luck unloading the four of them at once. People who collect footbag videos probably have at least one of those already, so won't want to buy, and people who don't collect footbag videos probably won't want to start by buying four at a time.

That said, if you decide to sell Like Woah and Lion's Den to Lon, I'll take Tricks2 and Vortex off of your hands. I'll even bump his offer up a bit, to 25$, since you'll have to ship to Canada.

Just thought of something:

SPAMMERS

If however this person is a spammer and not some random guy, then yeah this is straight up some wack shit to be doing.

That is all.

people advertise their bags and shoes that didn't fit for them on the 'bags and equipment' section of the forums all the time. This isn't any different.

I find it funny that this is coming from the guy who punched a lady in the face so he didn't have to pay for a tram ticket

Hahaha, seriously. I think Damon completely missed the point of your post.

However, I don't think there's anything wrong with this, seeing as how they're videos that aren't actually being sold publicly anymore.

Well, ok, first I didn't punch her to the face, second wasn't tram ticket, but fine and that is like 20 dollars difference, third she was holding my hood and I couldn' t go out on the station I wanted, so Should have I stayed there pay the fine and go few more stations the other direction??
By the way what was so funny on that??

Don't get frustrated Honza. I got the point of your post.

I was just bringing to light the fact that businesses (footbag websites) are promoting their products in every post they make.

This guy however is not a business (from what anyone can tell, but he may be a spammer) and is at least in the video section of the forum selling his own personal copies, not showing a teaser video of his latest works for sell on his website. So he has no business from which to pawn off these copies.

And even if he is not the original creator of these videos, he still bought and PAID for them already. So the creator already got his due on these copies.

What I was asking and you answered was what you considered a teaser. You answered video teasers.

I am a Web Designer and have seen all kinds of teasers and was just curious which ones you found to be ok and which ones were straight up NO NO.

Honestly Honza, I regard you as a very informed and highly skilled player and as such highly respect your take on the subject. From what I intepret, talk all you want just don't directly sell anything on the forum.

Is that correct?

Yes Damon that is correct.
Ian, I still don't see the point why you posted that to this topic and changed the at least half of the story. It is sad. :(

i was refering to the point that u thought it was wrong of the guy to sell vids on the forums but not wrong to punch someone in the face to get out of paying money. I felt safe to post that seeing as the topic was for the most part resolved.

OK, that makes sense. Still I think you can't compare these situations.
