um can't remember but I'll check for you :)

Just a quick post from work - hit mobius>pdx dlo in my break. Ken and I both challenged each other to this and I tried briefly before work but sealed it with a little run at work :D. No plant on mobius of course (or on the pdx dlo)

I rock.

Yeah I like Timo Mass.

Today
20 laps
33 minutes

Felt really good and strong despite having a hangover. Pretty much sprinted the last lap too but took the others easy. Calves were a little sore but overall I felt a lot better than yesterday. I think I'll definitly go for a run tomorrow morning. Speaking of which plans for today and the weekend:

Today: big breakfast coming up, make a few sandwhiches for lunch too. Pack stuff for weekend. Email invoice to mum (so she can print it out for me). Charge phone and mp3 player and shower. Go into town, pick up bus tickets. Hopefully have good kick in mall.

Catch bus at 3 to Delorain. Party tonight. Run tomorrow and footbag demo - party that night. Run Sunday morning, watch circus, - meet mum and grandmum, get lift home.

Basically there is some big arty event happening and I'm getting paid to do a demo and workshop at it - for an hours work. I also get free accom for two nights and get to attend all the other workshops and stuff (and free food). As usual we see a completely volunteer organisation doing a much better job of things than other volunteer organisations - although the Delorain Arts Council is very old and expierenced I think. Anyway it should be an awesome weekend - meeting lots of new people and chilling with them. I'm really looking forward to it :D Also I love getting paid to play footbag - it's the best you could ask for :)

Oh I need to burn a cd too. I'll do that now.

Probably no internet access until Sunday evening but we'll see.

edit: my progressquest character is now level 32 and I'm in act 3.

edit2: My weapon is a +12 Stabbity Vorpel Peen-arm. Also I love my job and footbag and running and music and people and the wilderness of Tasmania. I think that's about it now :)

Yeah wow - what a weekend!! Here is the run down :)

Friday:

Boring bus trip. Arrive at about 6 pm. Nobody was around and because I rang up late to say that I was getting their early (originally I was arriving at 8 or 9) I couldn't go to the dinner. So after being bored for a while I went to the local park and had a hardcore solo session (in board shorts and with my mp3 player) under some street lights. It was really fun and I played really well - lots of big moves midstring - smogs bsos, flurries, whirrs, mobius', and other such shananagans. It struck me as very surreal. Imagine you're driving or walking through this quite country town and you see this guy under a street light hitting pdx dlo>smog>smoke>ps whirl>ps whirl>torque>run. Would that blow your mind or what? Anyway it was a fucking good session.

I then went back up to the hotel and had a shower. My other roommates were in the room when I came back from the shower. They were all really cool people. There was Joe - who I met at debating camp in September 2001 and who is very cool. There was Sam - who went to the same primary school I went to until grade 2. His sister also used to come and stay at our house on days when she had band practice or something. Then there was Themis - who's brother I went to primary school with and whose house I visited when I lived around there. And of course - Ross - who is one of the weirdest, coolest, craziest people I've ever met. There were also 2 girls who were nice but I didn't talk to them very much. We went and saw the big show - which was this group of 4 woman called "The Business" - they were so amazing. It's one of the best shows I've ever seen - it was soooooooo funny. I really can't describe how amazingly good it was. After that there were some bands and dessert. Dessert was good but I didn't eat much. All those people I mentioned were amazing dancers (being performing artists - no surprise I guess) and I felt a bit intimidated :P. I did try and chat up a pretty girl who turned out to be 15 - I think she would have gone for me anyway ;)

After a while we went back to the hotel and chilled there for a while. By this stage I was wearing my McDonalds shirt with "motherfucker" written on it and I had to go down to the bar so I put on my wilderness society shirt that I got for free a few days ago. A couple of guys started talking to me about foresty. I was in no mood for conflict and agreed with what they were saying and thought in general it was a very friendly conversation. Anyway it only lasted a few minutes then I left the bar - went into the hotel section of the building - up the stairs and into the toilets where I had a piss and fixed my hair. This took maybe 2 or 3 minutes. Wow, I can imagine people reading this and being like "too much information - why is he telling us this? Does he think we care about when he goes to the toilet?" - well I opened the door and one of the guys who I'd been talking to was standing there and punched me in the face - breaking one of my front teeth in half. Not much significant happened after that - I did some pain killers and went to bed.

The following morning I went for a big hardcore run for a bit over 30 minutes and then went to the police and did a report. I did my footbag demo which nobody watched because they were all busy with workshops and then chilled with some guys and did more pain killers and had general fun until the early hours of the morning.

Today I went for another run, missed breakfast, went to a performers workshop thing. There was the best lunch and having not eaten all day - I ate soooooooo much. There was also a very cool kids circus. Half way through I got asked if I could do a short footbag performance. Of course I agreed and did my new routine I'm working on - no warming up at all, sore legs and and having just eaten. Naturally it rocked hard and the whole crowd loved it so much - everybody came up to me afterwards and told me how good it was :) I actually dropped the very first move :P - but only had maybe 4 drops? Lots of cool moves in it though.

Not much else happened - I've skipped over some stuff too because I'm a little worried about posting it. It sucks about my tooth and I'm getting the guy charged - altough only so that I can get the dentist work paid for - I don't believe in vengence.

Overall the weekend was very cool - all the people I met were very cool and I had a great time. I think I really learnt a lot about performing and about artistic qualities. Also about organising events and about good ways of running volunteer organisations. It was painfully obvious about the weaknesses of other organisations I'm involved with but I don't really want to go into that now. It's funny that a bunch of 15 - 20 school kids can organise stuff that international organisations spend hours of time not organising. Anyway overall it was a great event and also a lot of fun. The first demo I did - while not getting many watches - was the best I've played ever probably. I hit some crazy cool combos and was really consistant. I hit a shred 30 first attempt on demand. - ie. I said to the small crowd - "this is a shred 30" and then did it dropless. I footed a beast too and just had so much fun.

wow, mecca sick weekend! yeah it's crazy how the youth can pull some really good stuff outta the old bag'o'tricks sometimes... very cool. i love reading about your game... you always sound like your playing really well... sounds like your having lots of fun with footbag at the moment :D

how do u manage to keep picking up 15 yr olds? and whats with the random attack? i'm glad your getting him charged... not for vengeance... but punishment is important... i don't think ppl should be able to pull shit like that without consequence. i hope the dentistry all goes well and ur tooth doesn't hurt too much!

my weekend was absolutely shitful... right now i'm feeling ashamed, embarressed... disgusted with myself... basically i just want to find the edge of the earth and then fall off it... and i just got hurt real majorly by someone who i thought i was very close to, someone who i've supported so fucking much lately through all her shit, most of it self-inflicted... and she's just turned around and stabbed me in the back.... fuuuuuuuck. i was gonna stop swearing today, and i was doing well... but wat can i say it's been a very shitty night

Just a quick report because I'm at work and officially my break has finished although i still need to go get a coffee or a milo or something :P

Had a good session today with Glenn and Jorden. Glenn has just got a camera!!! We filmed a little bit. I hit a lot of average runs - like with some hard moves but only 10 - 20 contacts I think and two really good runs - Glenn missed both the good ones :x Anyway it was fun.

Ok back to work.

:)

Today I took the day off running - which was silly and I felt bad about it all day. Had a quick session in the mall that was fun and had a long fucking walk to the victims of crime building where I discoved I can get lots of compensation for being assaulted - not just for the dental stuff but for the emotional trauma of having to eat out of the side of my mouth in public and other such fatuity :D

Work was good but not really exciting. I did some fire staff spinning for 45 minutes or so and now I'm home.

Plans for tomorrow:
run
red bull
make footbags
send postcards and footbags
work

It's safe to say Saturdays are by far the best day in the universe. No other day comes close - even Thursdays which are definitly cool are like labotomy day compared with Saturdays.

So I went down to the market and had an awesome kick - I'm clearly in the best form of my life. I was playing with board shorts on but just so many long runs with hardish moves. Kicked with Glenn and Jorden mainly. Raff came along and I taught him to juggle (he had never juggled before but was getting 6 throws by the end of the day!!). Raff and I also stood on one leg for 10 minutes - then I stopped and Raff ended up going for 30!!

I met up with some friends - Joseph and Zolton and we juggled, kicked and had general fun for most of the day. Then went up to a club just across the road and watched one of the funniest bands ever (also $2 beers :) ) - the lead singer of this band was wearing knee high cfm boots and very little else - she was scorching. They played some crazy fucked up songs with crazy fucked up lyrics. The last song really got the crowd pumping too "Fuck Off President of the Arsehole..." - that and when she pretended to be eaten out by a soft fluffy toy... Also singing "we're going on an excursion to see a goat..." as an encore (those were the only lyrics and the whole crowd sang it as a round.

After leaving the club I got asked by a large bunch of drunks outside the pub downstairs to do a demo and I would say I really amazed them depsite being fairly drunk - I still put on a good performance and they loved me so much (I love that feeling of having a crowd be in love with).

There was an amazingly good typo in todays newspaper too (the Mercury - back page for the sport)

it was supposed to read:

"Sydney's hero Nick Davis celebrates after kicking the winning goal in last night's cut-throat semi-final win over Geelong."

but somebody accidently added an 'n' to the caption - which changed the meaning of the caption - only slightly, but some would say fairly significantly. I'm sure with some thought you can figure it out and probably will understand why the Mercury will be recieving an enourmas amount of angry letters on Monday...

Finally I just found out that one of my favourite footbaggers is definitly coming to Australia.

So to sum up - Saturday's rock. Everybody who comes to Australia really really should spend a Saturday with the Hobart Footbag Club/Salamanca Circus - every Australian should to - Saturday's really are the most fun day always - not just sometimes - they are always fucking awesome. Good things just happen on this day - it's inevitable. It is your destiny.
