¿"Symple"?

Post by Chema »

What does Symple mean? Is it like Anti-Symposium?
I'm not sure what Anti-Symposium is either

Symple applies to moves that by definition can not be symposium. For example-- blenders. You cannot do a symposium blender, so if it is done like a symposium whirl, it is referred to as a symple blender.

I'm sure someone can give a good reason why, or at least better reasoning than I could. :?

So you basically keep you support leg in the air longer than normal?

Blender is not the best example here
Symple Pickup - you start it like Symposium Mirage, but end up in stalling with dexing foot. It's not a full dex so it doesn't get symposium.

you jump off the dexing leg before you've put the other leg on the ground.

Many many people have hit a symposium blender - it's not considerably difficult - pdx symposium blender would be impressive though.

symp whirl>land>twist into osis. The symp whirl is either a set or peak time. I've been playing freestyle footbag for over 4 years now - I am pretty positive that I know the difference between symposium and symple. Pretty much every single move that has a dex in it can theoretically be hit both symple or symposium - many have such hard footwork that it makes them appear impossible.

thanks alex for that completely useless "word"

how about an explination.

anti-symposium implies catching the bag and landing on the same foot.

for instance, anti-symposium toe stall would be set from one foot and caught on the other foot when only the other foot is on the ground.

symple means that the dex and the catch are with the same foot but like symposium the dex/catch foot is jumped off of.

symple legover would be

toe>no plant while op out dex>same toe.

So have I undestood correctly because I've always thought that anti-symposium set: the bag on the support foot's toe and the other foot is in the air. Then you just jump hard enough and the bag is set at the same time.

Is it the same thing? :?

isn't what Nel described "rooted" - ie if your foot is on the ground when you stall it is a "rooted toe stall"

Although I haven't really heard much about "anti-symposium" I would presume it's when you dex the bag with the dexing foot still on the ground. That makes a great deal more sense to me then calling a rooted toe stall "anti symposium" since a symposium move is when you dex the bag jumping over it (ie. no plant while) - so "anti symposium" would be "plant while".

I remember a really really long time ago hitting a mirage like that (you slide your foot along the ground) and I know lynton has hit that too.

Sam: that's an opinion certainly but i'm not going to debate blender being a whirling osis or a different move completely - this topic is too silly already without getting that technical!

i kinda do this sometime (the sliding plant). especially with moves that are hard for me, that im just learning. perfect example would be stepping ss mirage. after the stepping dex i barely plant, sometimes i literally just drag my foot across the ground to do the mirage dex, because it can be easier.

Basically, symple moves are moves that are a lot similar to symposium in that respect, but, as Jeremy said, since the leg doesn't do a full dex, it isn't considered symposium. Examples of these are symple legover, symple pickup, symple butterfly, etc... I think symple moves are cool because they're styley and a nice change to the old move repitoir.

my understanding is that anti-symposium refers to the final downtime component of one move, where rooted refers to the initial uptime component another move.

you can have anti symposium without rooted, and vice versa.

symple butterfly? How would you do that?

For the record I think that Honza has hit Pdx Symposium blender.

symple butterfly is such a cool move - I think I invented it even. I guess that means it's called oh wheel 15 or something like that :P

It's like symple legover then you do a some extra plants and bail to an op clipper - basically :)

You do a symple butter as if you would do a normal butter, just don't plant on the foot you're stalling on. It's probably harder to do a same side symple butter from clipper than it is to do a symple butter from toe, though. I stumbled upon it one day randomly when I was shredding with Kevin.

that would be symposium.

symposium = jumping dexing landing all on one foot, catching on the other

symple = jumping dexing catching all on one foot, landing on the other
