Before you even try to do tricks that involve dexes and the like, master your kicks and stalls/delays first. Do you have a good foundation of toe kicks, inside kicks, and outside kicks? If not, I recommend you master these; though, I haven't mastered kicks, I can do a variety of tricks, but I could probably do more if I did master them...which is something I'm going to do because Crowley told me to.
Anywho, once you master the kicks, then you can advance to stalls. Be sure to bend your support leg and catch the bag; as the bag is going down, lower your leg with it and be sure that you focus on the shin down - pretend as if you were walking up a step. The same applies for outsides and insides, though the step reference is kinda void there.
Hope these tips help.

Tip my friend told me for stalls...
I used to drop my foot way to early, and it would half ass stall, then fall off...
RIGHT before the footbag hits your foot, drop it (not to the ground), but just a little, and voila!
Serious, just remember to drop RIGHT before the footbag hits your foot... Keep your toe/foot flat...
