Practice full downtime Illusions. And the most important is to practice Symple Legovoers.

You should practice Symple Legovers with higher set and much more downtime. So the move feel like the end of Eggbeater/DLO but without the first dexterity.

practice illusions, and double legover. And the move it self. Ducking leg overs. Far legovers. Bubba illusions, paradox illusions.

I find that for dlos and eggbeaters the most important part of the move is the second dex and starting it as early as you can - you should be jumping for this dex before the first dex has finished.

illusioning legover

Post by brinard »

set> op out> op out> same toe ... illusioning legover

okay, this ones giving me some trouble so i thought id search it... only to find bubba beater tips... not quite there yet...

but from what im guessing, you set about waist or alittle above waist, hop and dex, then quickly dex (lower) with the other foot, catching on toe...

but for some reason, i just cant hit it yet. ive worked it for about an hour altogether, and still cant get it.

any tips from the guiltless crew?

please and thankyou

eggs became my favorite trick since that post above. i can now hit them from any set ihave, most of the time bs.

most importantly, learn illusions bs, and get them very downtime.

just do far legovers, and dlos like everyone said.

i set>magic hop>bigger jump (meanwhile) and basically make your legs go "indian style" in the air, and when your first leg clears its dex, tack on that LO as soon as you can.

being light on your feet and havig a good toe game is always helpful.

this post probably will help no one.

As Jeremy was saying, it's mostly about timing. The bag is in the air for only so long, and you have to do 2 dexes. To maximize the amount of time you have to squeeze in both dexes, keep your set foot really low. When you set, barely take it off the ground as you do a short fast upward thrust with your setting leg. This will shorten the distance for your foot to come back down, letting you plant sooner and more steadily to help propel the illusion and to load up for the symple legover. With the added time, you can more casually do your dexes and prepare for your next trick, instead of desperately hurling that legover in at the last possible moment and being forced to bail on the next trick.

Practice symple legovers too.

It'll help me! If that counts.

Holly is making a mini for me so I'll be hitting this move with her bag most likely. I know my weakness is in the illusion dex because I can DLO or smog just fine.

eggbeaters

Post by Nathan »

hey all,

after 4 years in this game, eggbeater is one of the only downtime tricks i am completely hopeless at. i can consistently hit most of the similar tricks:

dlo
symp. legover
illusion
smudge/blizzard

for the toe set version, i generally set the bag right above my knee, keep my setting leg as low as possible, and try to cut the illusion sideways.

please help me out, especially if you have a game/body similar to mine - lanky, big windows, small movements, bad at dbl dexes.

i set my eggs alittle above my waist... belly button height i guess. and catch them afew inches below the knees.

make the illusion the powered dex, and the legover should fall into place like a dlo.

i guess my illusion is leggy, and the bag is dexed near my ankle, pretty much mid time.

i doubt ive been helpful... good luck nate! eggs rock!

I do them about the same as brian it seems.

Only other advice I could give is to push the symp legover down hard

The hard part of the trick is the plant after the set. The reason you want to keep your set low is so you can keep your weight close to the ground to push off the ground for the illusion, AFTER the set. If you make your big push off the ground for the set, the ground won't be close enough to push off as effectively for the illusion and symple legover.

1. Set without jumping or lifting your leg very high
2. Begin pulling your illusion leg up like an inside kick
2. Simultaneously, let your weight fall onto your set leg. Try to have patience and wait for your body to sink for a bit so your leg can load up for the mini jump. If you forcefully push your leg into the ground before your weight sinks into it, you lose room for leg to extend down for the jump.
3. Make a controlled front kick style push off the ground so you can hang in the air for a bit and complete the 2 dexes.

I completely disagree with brinard and Chim Chim. The legover is all I focus on for eggbeaters. Start the legover dex as early as you can and really make sure you're on top of it. I think this is most important for harder eggbeater moves - if you start the dex too late, you'll never have time to do the move, and since that's where the footbag is ending up, and you perform most of the dexes in the air, you really need to make sure you're positioning yourself for the legover, and not the illusion.

If you find yourself hitting the bag with your illusion leg, that probably means you need to drill those more, but when you're drilling them, try and do the dex with your leg higher than a normal illusion, and try doing it with a "symple" toe stall at the end - ie. jump more than normal into it.

Listen to Jeremy and Dat. I've always found their advice the most helpful.

Here's my 2 cents anyways.
The best piece of advice I can give is to start the legover as early as possible, as Jeremy said. I tend to think of footbag tricks extremely kinesthetically so it's tough to give visual advice. If you are a kinesthetic thinker, this will be helpful. I set a little below junk height and start the legover dex as soon as I'm aware that I'm illusioning (I don't even think about doing the illusioning dex, just as Jeremy described). I like to think there is basically an infinitesimal time gap between the illusion and legover.

Try bubbabeater as well. For me, it's easier than toe set egg on flipside. I've found if you set it right from clipper, you do not need to reposition your body at all, it just falls right in the sweet spot for both egg dexes.

EDIT: There are 2 Kevins who need to post advice in this thread.
