Footbag in 2050

I think footbag will become a much more serious sport, as that is the trend starting now. Before footbag was just for fun and you were just did it to have fun with others. Now, although still the same amount of fun, there is a trend of footbag being more about training and practicing, rather than just a fun thing to do.

I think the whole Vasek/Mulroney era brought about this change. Now people are training for different reasons. Some train just to get better, some train to say they are one of the best, and some people train to win competitions. So 50 years down the road I think footbag will become more about training yourself to get better as fast as possible, rather than just doing it when you have some spare time.

Many people would say this is a bad thing, but the way I see it, I'll already be pretty darn good by that time (not necessarily 50 years) and then there will be a demand for coaches for footbag. So, I'll be able to play footbag for a living, training kids to play better. I can't think of a better job then playing footbag all day.

This is probably the most accurate thing I've read (can I say that if it hasn't happened yet?). People will be training and doing specific drills just to become better. I can imagine sessions where one pushes their body to the limit. Players will do more than just train, they will be conditioning, paying more attention to their diet, and possibly running a few miles for endurance and strenght will be the norm. Drugs might even get involved. The game will definatly become a lot more competitive as all sports do. Its a pity that money will probably become a bigger factor. Teams may even grow to compete against other teams.

BUT THERE IS ONE THING TO REMEMBER. WE THE PLAYERS CONTROL HOW THINGS WILL END UP. Nobody controlls footbag as much as the players, we make the decisons.

I think by 2050, I'll still be kicking footbag when I'm an old geezer. I'll just get new legs or something after these ones fall apart. Those bastards better be able to clone legs, or better yet, livers by then or I'll be SOL. Or they could just but my brain in a Terminator and turn me into the greatest shred machine on the planet. Or, maybe we'll have the moon colonized and we can do a moon shred.

We're here live at the 45th annual Extreme Hacky Sack Galactic Championships. Hi I'm Marv Albert the 6th in for Lyle Lovetts. And I'll be your Galactic Commentator for this weeks events. Our main feature ofcourse being the Rambo 99 Showdown of the Stars, but first lets check in on the long shot target practice already underway....

Marv: I'm getting word that Vasaka Clous Clouda the 4th has sprained his radio ankle flexor and will be out for Semis in the Rambo event, but automatically gets a bi into the finals held later this week.

Bobby: You know Marv, Flexor technology is so limited these days - He'll be out for at least 30 -35 minutes while his team makes a crucial and critical last minute flexor change.

Marv: Let's just hope this doesn't hender his chances for dominance in the finals.

Bobby: It would be a shame to lose Vasaka at this pivital point in EHS history.

Marv: We'll be right back after a word from our Satelite 2020 provider.

I didn't think I feel this way, but after watching those extreme footbag videos I have decided that xtreme footbag looks really stupid. How can toe stalls and and running be that much fun? Really dumb!

I think it would be fun to do just to mess around, but you should at least stall the bag at the end, not kick it. Maybe try a butterfly instead of a toe stall.

I think Allan's stuff is way cooler. Nobody can handle Allan off benches and stuff.

Off the roof one was cool though.

In 2050 more people will definitely be doing more tricks off obstacles instead of just straight shred.

That's why I posted "I didn't think I feel this way, but ...". What he is doing is stupid in my eyes and I know I could learn to do the same stuff in very little time. I don't see the great amount of skill or control in doing very elaborate toe stalls.
People don't make fun of my footbagging because they can see the skill in it and see the difficulty of it. I admit it is good to see people trying new things with a footbag but this is a step backwards not forwards imho.

Extreme footbag does look pretty lame, but if he has fun doing it, that's cool. The whole point of the sport is fun; I've said earlier I don't care about skill or whether they can stall or kick the bag or not. As long as they have fun and I have fun, it's all good. I kinda hate it when people bitch about their skill; most people that can toe stall or do a legover or clipper can impress the normal person that has never seen footbag. Well, at least here in Missoula.

I think in 2050, if footbag continues to grow, like professor wrote, footbag will become more professional. There are a number of things that, if you are a complete hardout, could work on in the gym. Basket ballers can jump a metre into the air, they didn't get that by practicing jumping. Also professional players will probably wear something horrifying like spandex.

If the sport grows large enough, i think footbag players who stitch 32 panel bags will become a thing of the past. With enough demand, some company will finally come a up with a massed produced footbag which is actually good.

I just saw a movie from the 50s where they said in 2000 we'd be flying hovercrafts and taking vacations to Mars. Call me pesamistic, but I doubt there will be 10 people to become as good as Vasek is right now, in the next 45 years. Though I would gladly eat my words.

Footbag might become all big and popular. But there are LOTs of sports that have been around for more than 75 years and still aren't popular to a big market.

I saw some show saying that by 2050 due to debris orbiting the earth all communications satelites will be destroyed. As one gets destroyed, the larger debris which survives and starts orbiting will eventually hit another satelite and so on until there is so much debris we'll be trapped on earth and the communications networks that have brought us together will be destroyed forever. Sounds like bullplop to me but if this were to happen, footbag would be a bunch of dudes kicking with their local buddies, every now and then having to listen to one of us old codgers telling them how back in the day there were all these crazy moves and we used to share them with ppl around the world and that we'd show them some moves but our knees are full of fluid.
