Hey I'm running an online workshop on judging for the coming Aus footbag champs - basically going over all the systems that will be used and what everything means and how the judges should judge. We'll also do some practice towards the end. This has no relation to IFPA judging although all the systems are either the same or similar as to what would be used in an IFPA event. You will also probably recieve accreditation from the Aus footbag national council which will make you eligible to judge in Australia
Anybody is welcome to be part of this workshop - just send me an email to beast9 at gmail dot com - it doesn't matter how experienced you are. The only thing I ask is that you make a genuine committment - if you are inactive and don't respond to emails etc. then I'll cut you off the list and not put you back on without a really good excuse. If you don't want to take part in the workshop but you just want to view it etc. - primarily for training reasons or something similar also send me an email and I'll put you down as an observer but I'll only do this for experienced people.

is it just me or are you purposely excluding non-ifpa members from as many things as possible in order to motivate people to join by making as many positives for ifpa members?

Well the easiest way to run this thing in my opinion is using the ifpa groups system - which is only available to ifpa members so for convienience sake I'm using that - the people who I really want to be in the workshop ie. the judges for the event are already IFPA members too so it made sense.
I also feel that since this event and all major footbag events are IFPA sanctioned - if you wish to judge or compete at these events you have to be an IFPA member anyway. Non IFPA events basically have no meaning in my opinion and not being an ifpa member means you aren't really a participant in the sport of footbag - just the past time - at least officially, which is what counts for getting grants, olympic recognition etc. I'm not really expecting anybody to join the IFPA just to be part of this workshop but I'm definitly not going to out of my way for those people who don't think they can afford the 3 cents per day it costs to be an IFPA member.

Somebody pointed out that doing this workshop would be really good for people wanting to compete in events since you'll understand how they're judged and be able to do a better job of things. I agree with this sentiment and should point out that you don't have to have a desire to judge to take part in the workshop.
I'm not sure if Jeremy has organised anything with the ifpa regarding cetification, but i can tell you completeing the course will mean you will be certified to judge ausfootbag competitions.
