Mr. Sandbag: Improve or Deprove
Hey, I ordered two Mr. Sandbags from freedom (shipped on saturday so I'm getting them soon). I currently use a Sandmaster. After a lot of reading I'm noticing that some people say the Mr. Sandbag will make you improve a lot. However, I'm also reading that it can cause your technique to drop and although you may do better with it, you can run the risk of doing worse with other bags later on.
I'm already set on switching from Sandmaster to Mr. Sandbag but I just want to know if it really can make your technique lazy and how to prevent that. I've searched quite a bit but couldn't find a lot and I'd like to get one organized topic based on people's thoughts on this aspect of the Mr. Sandbag. If a similiar topic exists then I must have missed it point me in the right direction.
Thanks

The number 1 thing to do to help your technique is to play with experienced kickers, like the ones who meet every weekend in New York City. Surely your mom and dad must have some reasons to go into Manhattan from time to time. Ask them to bring you in to meet with the New York Footbag Association next weekend. We'll probably meet on Saturday afternoon in Central Park or Union Square. Keep your eye on our yahoo group for specifics.I just want to know if it really can make your technique lazy and how to prevent that.

Personally speaking, the transition of using a Mr. Sandbag compared to pellet bags is just a small change to handling it in your game. All it takes is a few minutes to warm up and you're covered. Like Jon said, join a group with experienced people to go and kick with to help manage your technique. If it weren't for NYFA I'll still be playing "hackey sack" and looking at the sky to see if I can pull off a move that can excite the masses. Going to a footbag event really helps as well, as it'll increase your motivation to learn that much higher.

I personally use a mr. sandbag but in when i meet up with CIC in chi town its all about 32p facile. Personally they help one end and make another end harder.
I think its good to use both, for example when im using a pellet bag my pixie sets are so much deeper and higher but then i struglle with clipper tricks
But you get used to it and for me i could really care less as long as its not uber light or uber heavy and it isnt uber rolly then im a happy camper.
Be more concerned with the condition and performance of the bag your using not how much it costs, what it looks like, or what everyone else is using.
The nice thing about pellet bags is the feeling your supporting a fellow freestyler.
a footbag does not make your game better, a poor footbag can slow your progress but its not like vasek sucked and then he got the perfect bag and instantly broke the vortex record.

My lil' brother and I play a game where he picks something from around the room and I get three tries to stall it... I've never failed. The hardest thing I ever stalled was an empty 2 liter soda bottle, I hit butterfly with itjedidove wrote:I once stalled a tennis ball (only cause of laver sidewalls).
I kick with Mr. S I thinks its great although I haven't gotten to the point where I can tell if it has or will effect my performance.

GOOD things of Mr. Sandman:
- ready-to-play, easy to stall right away
- cheap
- lots of colors
- even guiltless and better players use it
- you can allow even hacky sackers to touch it without the risk of a heart attack
BAD -"- :
- set isn't as easy to predict as with a good 32
- too light <-- IMO
Actually those two bad things are the reason why I prefer 32s. Mr. Sandman is a really cool bag for starters.
