Oh, I didn't know that I was a bad person for loving the government I fought for. Big bad me. I have something called patriotism I guess some of you people don't have that. But, I do know one thing: America has something called FREEDOM OF SPEECH which means I can tell any asshole I want to blow me and vice versa. So, if you want to be a fudgepacker about it and act like a twelve year old, C-Funk, go for it. Sad as it is, I resepct your right to be a dick.

Sorry for double-post, but as a great America (North and South) lover as I am I'd like to point out that Sergio is a Frenchie - and as we all now, all the Frenchies can do is host invaders. :P
Nah, just kidding.

Though I like "Freedom" Fries more than French Fries, they just taste like freedom...no wait, is it called fat?

I also love American journalists.

I saw a very interesting documentary about US journalists in the Iraq and their opinions on the "free speech" that is allowed in the US. According to these journalists they knew that the Private Ryan thing was completely false and they knew that the pulling down of the Saddam statue was staged but the US government forced them to lie about both issues on TV - as well as a whole range of other things. US journalists new about the Abu Giab scandal well before it was reported but were silenced by the government until the details were reported by UK journalists.

I think Americans are often told how great their level of freedom of speech is but because they are the most homebound first world nation most Americans never realise the difference between their "free speech" and free speech in other countries.

Regarding the homophobic language - in the discussion forum that kind of stuff isn't moderated but I'd really appreciate it if you didn't use discriminitory language on the forum. Last time we ran a feedback survey - discriminitory language on the forum was the biggest problem raised by the members and I don't think using that kind of language unneccisarily will win you many friends.

Isn't slurs plural? I count one slur, Steveo.

Regarding that, though, I'm not a homophobe, but I do use the term fudgepacker occasionally in daly life. Sometimes I randomly bust it out on the internet. Sorry about that.

in this particular instance, I think it IS bad to love the government you fought for, because that indicates to me that they've brainwashed you into thinking that you're fighting for some righteous cause, when you were really putting your life on the line (and maybe even ending the lives of others) for the sake of the personal gains of the ruling elite that run this country, and the rest of the world, for that matter. do yourself a favor and check out www.infowars.com, and maybe some of the free TV channels in winamp that broadcast under the name Freedom TV.

Did you serve? No. Shut your pie hole, buddy. I'm far from pro-Bush and at the same time I'm not a staunch republican, though I do tire of people blaming him for everything bad that happens. Albiet he isn't the best president, he's not the worst. Take a look at Hoover. He led us into the Depression and he thought he was doing good. I believe in the lines of if you don't love your government, get the hell out and find somewhere else that you might like it better. It is after all our own fault that Dubya got re-elected. Call me crazy, but the voters did have the choice.

I didn't say anything about bush. I don't blame that guy for anything, I don't think he's making any real decisions. he's a puppet.

as for serving, I don't have to have served in the military to have an opinion or perspective regarding the system and how it uses / treats wars and it's soldiers.

Sorry to imply that you said anything about him, I know you didn't. I'm letting my stance on him be known. As for the second part, serving would be a great frame of reference. It's like saying I hate burger flipping when I've never done it in my life, but one of my friends did it and he hated it, so I hate it, also. I did my TIS; I did my job and I have no regrets. I know lots of people who don't hold the same view, but if you have regrets, then it was probably the wrong thing for you to do.

This argument is getting pointless. I realize your point of view/opinion on the matter and I respect it and I'm going to leave it at that.

True. And that is why I believe that instead of complaining about it (not you, people in general) or leaving, people should work to make the country what they think it should be. I disagree with the "if you don't like it just leave" way of thinking. No country is perfect. If you don't help to fix the problems, it won't ever get better.

Example) If you don't like Bush or what he's doing, make sure no one like him gets into office again. Vote, campaign for a less-bad elected official, become better informed about what's going on with the govn't in general.

Back on topic, I like America. It's the BEST.

You've got a pretty good point there, Emily. The only problem is getting the no-voters to do it. Too many people in the age of 18-24 (probably one of the most important age groups, but at the same time, that age group can be widely misled in views by parties, so it confuses a lot of them and forces them to not vote...at least that's what I found out a lot of people that age thought) don't vote. One of the things the Democratic party needs to do is get someone that will get elected into office that has the experience, leadership, and balls to take hold of this country and steer it back on the right track. It's a shame Wes Clark didn't get nominated by the Democrats; I think if he would've been the candidate, the Democrats would've stood a lot better chance than Kerry (his protesting with Hanoi Jane made me not want to vote for him; a lot of Vietnam vets didn't vote for him because of that and he almost always contradicted himself), at least in my opinion. Oh well, hopefully in three years there will be a hopeful president that won't suck.
