Do you dislike gay people, or do you have no problem with them?
I can't answer this question.

Now if you asked just this:
Do you dislike gay people?
Then I'd say no.

To expand, I think being gay is wrong. I don't dislike someone because they do something that I think is wrong, depending on the action of course, i.e. murder. Now, I would never hate someone for something that they did, no matter what it was. I would hate what they did, but everyone makes wrong choices, who am I to say their choices are worse than mine?

So the first question is not answerable. I don't dislike gay people, but I have a problem with them being gay. Just like I have a problem with people who smoke, but I'm not going to go around disliking everyone who smokes.

I think blue eyes are wrong. Don't get me wrong though, I don't hate people with blue eyes, but I do hate to see and hear about blue eyes being out in public spaces. People who have blue eyes should be wearing contacts to hide their true colors, or just stay out of the public squares. I don't hate them though, I just hate the use of blue eyes. I don't understand why they didn't choose to have brown eyes like the normal people.

Eye color is genetic while I believe being gay is not. When's the last time you've heard, "being gay is in the family?" Or, "I got my dad's gene of being gay?"

Did you choose to be straight? Or did it just kinda happen?

Do you think someone would CHOOSE to be part of the most universally hated groups of people in the whole world, just for fun?

Try this. You try to choose to be gay yourself. I'm not saying go out and have relations with guys. I mean, try to be attracted to them, like you're attracted to women. See if you can just twist your arm into feeling something like that, that you aren't naturally feeling.

If you respond with, "yes, I tried to choose to be gay, and I was succesful! I found myself attracted to and lusting after men and sex with men. it was amazing! all I had to do was choose", then maybe I'll give that last point you made a little creedence.

Until then, though... jeez. Use your head.

Actually in humans, at least one genetic factor for homosexuality has been tracked to the X-chromosome, so in humans, this factor is inherited soley from the mother.

In Drosophila, sexual orientation and mating preference has been studied extensively, and at least 10 genes have been shown conclusively to be involved in the pathway.

No one really knows for sure whether or not homosexuality in inherited or not, but I think most studies are leaning towards the genetics side of things nowadays.

Why would I choose to do something that I know is wrong? Doesn't make sense.

Related to this subject, I have a couple questions. If sexual preference is not a choice (gay, straight, whatever), then what about older men who are sexually attracted to young girls? Like a 40 year old thinking a 9 year old girl is hot? What if that man is, to quote Matt, "attracted to and lusting after" girls "and sex with" girls? Is that a choice, or is it genetic? Is it right?

Whether it is genetic or not, I think most people would say that it is wrong to take action on those feelings since the young girl is unable to consent.

That would be the only reason I can think of not to follow those instincts.
Why would I choose to do something that I know is wrong?
Just a few hundred years ago, it was wrong to open the human body. How common is the autopsy ? How many people undergo surgery each day ?

What do we really know is wrong, and why would I choose to know something is wrong ?

This conversation is so terrible. There are so many people I'm not going to be able to be friendly with in person because of the horrible things they're saying about other human beings. JFC, people, J.F.C.

Regarding inheritance/choice, it's also thought that the timing of hormones during fetal development in the womb may have a role in the sexual orientation of a child. There are more factors than simply genetics that decide a person's future personality. Just because there isn't (I don't know if there is or not, or if there may be) a gene, doesn't mean there's a choice involved.

i have aboslutley no problem with gay people. i know a few, and they are good people that i like to hang out with. then again, i have never been a person to judge someone just because they were different. even when i was a kid, and i saw so much bigotry around me. I just didn't get it. i couldn't make sense of it, and i still cant.

I believe that homosexuality is both hereditary and a factor of choice. im sure some circumstances in life could lead someone to be homosexual or not, and i believe just the opposite could happen.

i like to act gay, and be fruity, but all in fun (hey, everyone does it)...

but as long as i'm not getting hit on, it's ok. and as long as he doesn't go out of his way to be gay (like a homosexual mecha gay poser, i guess?) i'll be fine...

but then again, i only know two gay people, and i never really pay much attention to them cuz they are always around a bunch of ugly girls that i don't talk to...

but if a guy grabbed me or something, i would be pretty damn pissed.

Thank you soo much for saying that! My gay friends weren't just like "hey chema do think I should be gay? I just can't decide."

It appears that you're totally missing the point - I don't want to be offensive if you got the point - but like I said before, you don't get to choose your sexual preference, your either attracted to men, or women, or both.

Frankly, I think this whole discussion is stupid, I'm so over prejudice's like this. We might as well have a thread about whether black people are right or wrong. 8O

How about if one of those ugly girls grabbed you?

I don't think the fact that it's a gay guy should have anything to do with whether you'd get mad at them. Someone you have no real relationship with, someone you're not interested in at all, someone who has no place in doing so, has grabbed you.

You'd get pissed regardless of sexual orientation.

Great article I read recently:

http://www.boston.com/news/globe/magazi ... ?page=full

To be candid:

I'm "mostly" hetrosexual. I appreciate beautiful people; boys and girls. Although I've never had a fully sexual experience with another boy, if I actually felt like I wanted to, I wouldn't shy away from the experience -- I've just never met a boy who's made me feel that way.

I have very close, personal friends who are gay (and lesbian) and I've known people with whom I've discontinued or distanced my relationships with them because of their homophobic beliefs and attitudes.

I think you people who have a "problem" with homosexuality need to have your heads examined. It's a bad as being racist and if you can't see that, then I truly feel compassion for you in your plight.

Maybe it's my small town upbringing or my faith, I just shy away from gay. But, I have no problem, like I said before.

As for a gay touching me or an ugly girl, ugly girl. I don't want no manhand on my cock. :P
