i have had 2 crappy sessions in a row... my hip has been really bothering me. I tink I hit fairy symp swirling osis both sides last night, however... paul can confirm cleanliness.

I've been really unhappy with my climacools lately, I feel that the inside bulges out too far for me to get good clipper catches. I believe that I'll try my lavers again for the next session and see how I feel. Or maybe I can find a decently priced pair of NB 890s, those looked interesting. I doubt that I'll be happy with lavers after the cushioning and lightness of climacools, but we'll see. I just need to train harder.

my next session with Paul will be tomorrow, thursday night. There's a great night spot at RIT, but it's only lit until 10:45.

I think an awesome trick to hit would be reverse swirling dyno. I think I can do it... how weird would THAT be... didn't ianek hit that in a montreal video (he pondered to no one)?

Looking forward to KICKASSSSSSSSS.!!!!!!!!!1

the session yesterday went a little better. Paul and I played on a street corner in the South Wedge of Rochester. My friend Shawnee came by and played some beatbox recorder (remember the plastic flute from primary school?). I had some long strings, and I hit a new move, that being swirling dyno. Oh, and also swirling gyro toe, and pixie ingyro toe, caught almost in frigid and resolved with hip twist, not a rake. My shuffle was doing pretty well, I think my playing was clean, and I had good control.

However, my hip was bothering me more than it has before. It wasn't even pain, really. Just an increasing stiffness as I played. It's carried on into today. I think I need to impose a week long break from footbag on myself, unfortunately. I can play through the stiffness, but I don't want to cause long term damage. This is what I get for doing quantum symp whirl without warming up. I'm pretty sure this is what caused it. rgggggggg.... that's frustrating. It was such a satisfying move, too.

ah well... I hope Jeremy gets back to me soon with an itinerary, and, if this were a perfect world, some kind of contract, about that Australia gig... I'd LOVE to be a pro footbagger...

oooooo Australia!
ooooooooooo quantum symp whirl!
Go Matt!

I can come up and shred with everyone this weekend. RIT is closest, but I can definitely make it to the city too. Does anyone have a preference between Saturday or Sunday? Since I have no control over my transportation, I can only do 12ish-4ish on saturday or 2ish-6ish on sunday.

Session today with paul went nicely. Couple nice long strings, and lots of volleyball players! I got tired quick which sucked, and paul needed a break so the session was about 1.5 hours.

New stuff:
gyro whil bs (flip was probably the, paul was gone)
gyro mirage bsos, first time ever
blurry whirl bsos, first time ever
blurry whirl > blurry whirl sealed by paul... next time i'll get it
fairy ss whirl

yeah so the last two days ive been really unhappy with my shred. thursday with matt i think i had maybe 3 good strings, it seemed like the entire session was get bag>kick bag>2 contacts> drop bag>pass bag> watch matt rip up bag> give matt props> rpt. it sucked. i dont think i hit anything new. the only thing that stands out in my mind is tap BSOS.

today didnt go that much better either my left leg has been acting up this last week and it definately has affected my playing as of late. the muscle just above my knee has been twinging with pain and there has been inadvertant pins-and-needles there as well. on top of that, my shin splint is back on my left foot and i have a strong feeling that it has to do with all the atomic stuff ive been doing.

ARIC RIPPED IT UP TONIGHT! on top of the stuff he posted earlier, he also hit the 3 contacts of rubberman which is huge because he never does atomic.

the only new stuff for me is 3 spinning clippers in a row, and the best blender ive ever hit.

~NEL~

p.s. hopefully sunday will be better than the last 2 days have been.

paul, please comment on you hitting blurry whirl back to back and sealing it.

session with chris dean today, about 5 PM at my house... we will both be doing spins and ducks today, no high intensity shred, as we are both feeling a bit torn up by footbag playing.

awesome session yesterday, it was nice to get all the major Rochester players in one circle. Even better, we got to film, and everyone hit some cool stuff for the camera. I hit some cool stuff, but I left as soon as we were done filming, so if anyone wants to know, they'll have to watch the new video, which should be out in the next few days ;)

i was taking it kinda easy because of my hip (I'm on a break from footbag, remember?), but I was feeling strong otherwise, and my hip wasn't really bothering me. i think it appreciated that I didn't make it do any furious or quantum sets, and that I stretched it. Today it's better.

All the news I'm getting from Jeremy regarding a trip to Australia is good. I just need him to get me a piece of paper with some official person's name on it so I can show my parents and get them to loan me enough to get over there. This would be the most incredible experience ever, I really hope I get to go. If I time it right, I wouldn't have to miss any gigs, and if it goes a little long, I'd only have to miss one. We'll see what happens. Suffice to say, I've got my fingers of one hand crossed while my other hand knocks on wood.

I'm at work. it's good to be back at work in Rochester. I've got an open mic later tonight, and I might try and play some footbag when I get home. We'll see what happens, I'm feeling healthy... just have to keep taking it easy.

I haven't posted much in this footblog, and I think it's about time I make it a habbit. The session Sunday was great. I was so happy to shred with the people that were there. I will second the notion that Chris Dean ruled. He hit moves I don't know the names for and was busting combos as they were called out like it was nothing. Everyone else did great too. I am so anxious to make the video from the footage I have. I sincerely hope I have time tonight and tomorrow to dedicate myself to it.

My shred during the session was alright. It took me a long time to warm up, I mean a long time. I noticed that my average string length was longer than usual, and in some cases my contact count was at least double what it usually is. My style is a bit sloppy but my concentration for the last few weeks has been longer strings. About a week ago I started playing more on my toes and the change has been very positive. My sets and catches are much more controlled and reliable than ever before. I have a bad habbit of stopping whenever I guilt. I need to remember to keep going no matter what, so long as I'm not just doing 2-adds all day long.

Some moves I remember hitting:
toe whirls - one or two on my flip side as well
smear -> terrage -> double legover
stepping same mirage - both sides
blizzard - I hit this out of butterfly which I have never done before

I don't remember much else. I guess the next RFA video will show you.

OUCH!! So yah I think yesterday I broke myself... Today during my last class I started to get extremely hyper and full of energy, so I thought footbag would be a good way to use it. I called paul up and we decided to meet at 9 at this apartment, so I threw on my blades and headed over to his apartment. Put on my shoes and started to kick and instantly I started to feel like crap, had the shakes, shin splints were killing me, stomach started flipping out! It sucked... but we both decided to head over to the tennis courts to some bertter lighting and surface. On the way over I started to shake even more and started studdering.. but we made it to the courts and started playing. I slowly started to relax and calm down, but my legs were killing me, tiltless was a lot of work and I couldn't stick any clipper stuff. Very disappointed and in a lot of pain I tried to sit and watch paul. Eventually i got up and tried working some toe stuff and then out of no where I try double zulu, 3rd or 4th try and i hit double zulu clipper! I was skeptical (couldn't see anything of course) but paul said it looked great. So that was cool.

My legs really hurt now, and I'm definitely not playing for the next couple days, I might try light stuff on Friday. Even through all the pain I managed a couple 10+ strings and some new stuff.

New stuff:
outside set darkwalk
flip toe set ducking legover
toe set ducking mirage>diving mirage (rpt) - not new but havent done it much
double zulu clipper (i will definitely work this more and hit more out of it)
