Insomnia
Insomnia
Not really footbag related - but anybody have some good tips?
I eat well, I exercise lots, I get sunlight. Just recently I seem to only be able to sleep like three or four hours a night. It hasn't even been effecting me - I don't feel tired very often. I just run out of things to do that won't wake everybody up at 4 am. Maybe I'll start writing a book...
edit: if everybody came onto footbag chat maybe it would be so bad...

Damn that's shitty. I know how to get rid of insomnia.........get wasted!!! It's fun and you can just drink till you pass out. Seriously, you could go to the doctor and try to get Ambian (sp?) prescibed to you or you could go to the drug store and just get some OTC sleeping pills.

yeah, I too only get around 4-6 hours a sleep a night. For me though I just dont' feel tired (sleep tired, always body tired) until like 1 or 2am. I've been sick recently so nyquill has been taking care of me. Ive been pounding it like an alchy. I just find too much stuff to do while I am awake, like playing games and footbag.

Jeremy, do you do a lot of stuff in your room? One of the most frequent reasons for insomnia results from the association of our rooms with other activities. For example, a person is never supposed to study on his or her bed, because then when that person goes to bed, the environment he is in reminds him of studying, and he can't fall asleep. A lot of people do study/etc. on their beds and don't have problems, but I know it certainly affected me. Also, if you're having problems, I would suggest adding a dull, droning noise to your sleep environment-- such as a loud fan. I've found (and my sister as well) that an incessant sound tends to lull us to sleep. Plus, that consistent noise will eventually be associated with the action you perform in concert with it-- sleeping. As a result, it's a self-reinforcing method. In the short term, you COULD resort to sleeping pills, but I wouldn't use them for an extended period or your body will decrease production of the neurotransmitters associated with sleep (GABA, I think
), which will make you more and more dependent on the sleeping pills. Good luck and if all else fails, just shred until you get incredibly tired or fall unconscious.

i had a serious problem with insomnia for about a month or so, and for me, it was more mental than anything. i would get like 2 hours of sleep every night, and the only reason i couldnt sleep was because i KNEW i wouldnt be able to sleep. so once i got that stuck in my head, i couldnt stop thinking about it. eventually i got so tired i just fell dead asleep after that month or so, and managed to stop thinking/worrying about it, and i havent had a problem since. also for me was not doing enough physical stuff during the day.

I second zach's idea of adding a low drowning noise to your sleep environment. I have slept with a fan in my room for around 8 years or so. I found that it helped to lull me to sleep. Its kinda weird sleeping without one though. when i stay places i have a little trouble going to sleep, but thats mostly because of a different environment. You can also drink certain herbal teas and they help, such as: Camomile? i think thats how its spelled. Good luck

Here's my solution. stay up all tonight and all tomorrow - don't sleep until about 9 or 10 pm on Friday night. That should get me started
Actually it will probably only work for one night - but Saturday is kicky bag day so as long as I'm fit for that day I'll be happy
I'll keep you posted as to how I go

Oh, and along the lines of drinking herbal tea-- just eating any big, warm meal will generally get people drowsy. That's why old people always fall asleep after dinner.
So yeah, you might try drinking/eating something warm before you go to bed.

Dont eat the supper too late! Eat it not later than 7-8 p.m.! It should be light food, and yes, it can be warm. Drink some herbal tea to it (but some that calms down, not give you more energy).
And in bed, count from 99 to 0 and then from 0 to 99 and repeat it until you fall asleep. When you will star to making mistakes that means youre falling asleep slowly. So just count ...
The other thing is to be focused on your breath. Breath regullary, and slowly. Don't breath too deep.
Next thing you can do is inflame a candle. It can be an aromatic one. I knew what aromat is the best for sleep, but I forgot
Physical exercises are good too, but not later than 3 hours befor you go to bed.
A mug of warm milk works good too.
You should stay earlier and go to bed earlier to be less tired.
And don't think about the things you really want to do tomorrow! It can help all the thing you want to do, but it can make you excited too, and you will not be able to fall asleep for long...

I'm pretty sure the aroma is lavender. My mom loves it.ptaku wrote:Next thing you can do is inflame a candle. It can be an aromatic one. I knew what aromat is the best for sleep, but I forgot![]()

Masturbation is always a reliable sleep aid.
Nothing like falling asleep right after a good orgasm
The one thing i cant believe wasnt mentioned "READ A BOOK"
if you know your tired but cant get your mind of shit just grab a book and start reading. This happens to me all the time.
Im a crazy sleeper if im sober i need a fan making a noise, an orgasm, and a movie on my computer.
If im wasted i need a solid surface with overhead cover.
For me i feel better at work all day when i dont get more than 5 1/2 hours of sleep. If i get more than that im dead tired all day. Its fucking wierd.

I cant sleep properly either. I have a crackhead who lives above me and she kept sneaking into my apt. anytime I left the door unlocked( shes so messed up she thinks it her apartment)- till i scream GET THE HELL OUTTA HERE YOU FUCKIN BITCH
. After catching her the 3rd time I called the cops and now she tried coming in 3 more times while the door was locked and I was next to it. Im moving this month and I hope my stress goes down and I can start sleeping again.
