Smoking & Footbag

Post by WiGeek »

Any smokers (besides me) out there that also shred?

What are your opinions on smoking?

Mine, of course, would be biased towards smoking, but to me, nothing is more fun then smoking and circle kicking...

Also, why did you start smoking in the first place (if anyone here smokes  )?

I did stress after a BAD breakup, sigh... :?

Thing is, I know I could quit smoking instantly if I wanted to, and I smoke half a pack a day... so I am not that bad at all... well, i guess it is bad... haha

I smoke and play footbag.....but never at the same time.

Freestyle is to much hard work to have a smoke while doing it......would you smoke while jogging???

That's why I only circle kick and throw a couple delays in time to time... I'm not constanly smoking, but it doesn't seem to stop me from basics... But I could see some harder shit taking a toll...

i am a smoker who shreds and all i can say is although i don't feel it now, i KNOW that if/ when i quit i WILL feel the improvements. since i'm about to make a very serious commitment to take my game to the next level i am cutting back at the moment and have given my self a cut off date. once they are gone and done with, shred will go alot better i predict.

i started at a young age due to 3 things i guess; peer pressure, curiosity and bad role models. i stated smoking heavily when i was 16 and moved to montreal. i was living in pretty extreme circumstances and poverty and used cigarettes as an escape from my surroundings and to cope with my problems. let's just say it didn't help, since i have been smoking heavily for the past 4 years. i can't wait to breath again! i just have to keep reminding my self why i am doing it.

well I starting smoking because my older sister did, acceptance whatnot at age 12 or so.

I smoked and smoked pretty much whenever I could get one in between school and whatnot. I loved to smoke while shredding, a little more challenging personally.

Thing is though, I straight up quit 3 months ago cold turkey. Decided I didn't want to smoke, so I stopped. I'm sorry, but it was really easy for me to quit, plus my girlfriend hated to be next to me when I smelt like smoke  which isn't good for anyone.

Difference in game: None

Seems illogical to assess no improvements after quiting, but it's the truth. I'm on a constant rate of improvement as compared to before. Nothing has really improved when it comes to my footbag game. It's weird like me.

Cool thing is I took some drags of a ciggarette the other day, and it made me sick. Turns out I couldn't start again if I wanted to

When my girlie gets pregnant (in hopefully a couple years, haha), I'll quit with her. :)

I smoke while kicking hack. I've been smoking since around the time when I was 16. I really started to smoke more when I was in the National Guard...good old smoke breaks. Now that sometimes when I wake up and my lungs hurt from too much smoking and my liver hurts from too much drinking, it's making me think to stop smoking, which I'll probably do in February on my 21st.

I also smoke a lot and it does affect (of course) my endurance. If I wouldn't smoke I may have longer runs, but maybe not, I don't know. A bigger problem is the 2 minute routine, where it's hard to breath at the end. I also think I would improve more if I wouldn't smoke.
I want to quit someday, but don't know when :?

I hope (and probably won't) get to that point... I have everlasting endurance (no joke, just ask the people I play football with...)! :)

I also have a lot of endurance for a heavy smoker like me. When I used to play soccer I always was one of the most running around players.
But it could be better if I don't smoke. Well, maybe some day ...

I smoked cigs from age 18 to 20. I quit them because my footbag endurance was cut really short, due to all the heavy, laborious breathing I was having to do. Also, I couldn't sing as well. My singing and shred have both improved since I quit, and I'd recommend quitting tobacco to any freestyler.

you're from wisconsin, not britain. it isnt even an excusable coloquialism for you. they're cigarettes, not fags.

Yeah, but I just heard the Kings of Leon song, and it made me want to say it.

What king or god said I couldn't use fag as a cig? :P

man you just joined on sunday, do you even play footbag? because i havent seen a single post from you that would lead me to believe that you even play. another thing is 126 posts at 44 posts a day? are you just trying to rack up posts? no one wants to read 126 posts from one dude over the course of 2 days. and yes, it is that bad that you post so much.

if you want to post a lot, there isnt much i can do about it. if you continue to use derogatory terminology, especially when someone has specifically requested you stop, there is something i can do about it, and i have seen all of your posts, and i can look at them at any time, so STOP BEING AN INCONSIDERATE PRICK.

It sounds to me like you just need to get laid or not be so strung out or something...

But I am pretty sure it was clearly stated as a cigarette under a cigarette topic?

Whatever, I'm done.

Jordan,

Don't back down. You're 100% correct in this debate. Paul's just upset that Modified's tight-knit, borderline incestuous community and tacit rules concerning the direct relationship between post frequency and length of membership are being ruptured by some Wisco philistine.

Jordan's use of "fag" is both contextually appropriate and completely non-offensive. He used "fag" neither as an insult nor in a way that has any negative or homosexual connotations. "Fag" has multiple meanings - some offensive, some not. The links posted by Paul do nothing but prove this point. Paul, get off of your high horse and stop trying to frighten newbies away.

Jordan, welcome to Modified - I'm glad to see how enthusiastic you seem to be about the sport. Be warned that some of your posts are rather thin on content and relevance, and this is often frowned upon on this forum (particularly in the "Discussion" subforum - silly or trivial retorts are generally inappropriate and unwelcome). Think before you post.

So is Paul officially out of the closet or what? :D

funny post. I think any guilty partys need to lighten up and do more to engage themselves in more non-footbag related activities.

I also noticed a lot of posts by WiGeek, but I didn't read them all, nor was I offended. Remember, just because there is a new post on modified doesn't mean you have to read it; what the hell kind of person would read every single post on here? :? Inconceiv able......

edit: I used to smoke when i started playing, then i quit footbag freestyle, then i quit smoking, and several years later i find it's much easier without the tobacco.
