Most lifetime adds?
Most lifetime adds?
A friend and I were talking about who we thought might have performed the most adds in their lifetime.
I think it is most likely Vasek (maybe Kenny, Peter, Jorden)
He thought it was most likely Kenny.
Thoughts?

I thought about Lon as well. I think he posted that he has played at least an hour a day for the last 5 ? (not sure) years. When I brough that point up with my friend I thought of players like Jorden and Vasek that are know to play multiple hours a day.
Player # 1
Say you play 1 hour a day for 8 years:
1 X 365 X 8 = 2920 hours
Player # 2
Now say you play three hours a day for 3 years:
3 X 365 X 3 = 3285 hours
So in less than half the time player # 2 has played many more hours than player # 1. Also the players that are playing 2.5+ hours a day are usually the players hitting long string with big adds. Because of this I would think a player like Vasek would hold the record for most lifetime adds. But I also think it is possible that players who have been playing for a LONG time (Kenny, Peter) might have enough years to offset the hours put in by newer players. Thoughts?

Good math but Peter Irish has made the finals for worlds the last 14 or 15 years in a row - presumably he's been playing longer than that too...jon wrote:I thought about Lon as well. Good point. I guess the only way to try and narrow down the contenders would be to know how long the vets have been playing for and on average how many hours a day.
If its true about the number of hours Vasek was reported to have been playing at one point he might have put in more hours in 2-3 years that 99 % of all other players have in their footbag careers.
365 days x 5 hours/day (I heard he used to play more than this possibly x 2 (years - low ball count) = 3650 hours !!!

with a new add featured called the "jon haber add", soon to be accepted by the IFPA by 2015, all players names jon haber will be awarded an extra 5001 adds per contact thereby giving me the recordUranos wrote:This whole thing is funny because maybe there is only 4 or 5 adds difference between some 2 people for top spot, and it all is decided on wh o starts playing again sooon. Or you can blame x-dex again.

aww thanks, I think you're cute tooTsiangkun wrote:3 adds per toe delay.
It's cute how the little kids think the old timers have always been old, and have never sessions longer than an hour or more than once a month.

First of all, High adds does not = good freestyler. Good now that we got that out of the way.
If you are calculating adds, it doesn't matter how long someone plays each day and for how many years, it matters how many adds during their session they hit and how many sessions they've had.
Assuming you can hit 1 trick per second and you never drop...for simplicity:
3 hour session with only 1 adds = 10,800 adds
2 hour session with only 3 adds = 21,600 adds
See, so playing time doesn't matter much if you are trying to calculate adds.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

I don`t think anybody here claimed that adds= good player.
Also, I`m pretty sure that with 2 bag juggling, each toe delay gets 2 adds.
As for my guess, I think Peter Irish is a pretty fair guess. Rippin` and Greg Nelson are also likely up there. Kenny has gone through a couple retirements, so I don`t know.
If it did turn out to be somebody from the new school, I`d say Vasek is most likely.

My vote is Peter.
Lets say he only ever hit 3 adds for the the 15 years he's been playing (saying it's only been 15 years)
At 4 hours a week.
4 X 52 = 208 hours at an average of 90 adds per minute (going off 1 3Add move every 2 seconds)...
90 X 60 = 5400 adds per hour which = 16,848,000 adds in 15 years.
Now, lets say Vasek hits an average of 5 adds in the 5 years he's been playing (again, using averages).
at 5 hours a week X 52 hours per year which = 260 hours per year.
averaging 5 adds per 2 seconds = 11,700,000 adds in 5 years.
So, sure, it's 'close'... but I've used averages that I pulled out of a Scotch filled mind.
To me... Peter would be the winner, hands down.
So, what I'm trying to say is that it will always be an older player!

I don't know if it changes your calculations, but in Peter's own words "I attended East Coast Championships in 1986 and discovered freestyle, and have been practicing ever since" so he has been freestyling for 19 years in 9 days. Here are some links where I got all that from: http://www.footbag.org/events/show/1057126024

I don't know how much Bruce Guettich still freestyles, but he's been playing footbag for 28 years!!! Maybe he could be a good candidate for most lifetime adds? He's still a very good net player, he was 3rd in singles at Worlds 2003.
