- HARD TO GET A Footbag AND IS EXPENSIVE

I Still remember how hard i got my First FOotbag . I was searching all around took me like half year to get it b4 i just kept burrowing my friends hacky sack. anyway i didnt know there s a footbagcanada.com and when i saw that little ball with price 13 canadian dollors i almost gave up lol but i really love it so i bought it anyway.

I have been playing with my deck shoes for a while and i think my deck shoes arent really good (but that doesnt stop me playing freestlye, cuz i really love it ) I have been phoned about 15 shoes stores AND I TRIED TO FIND A Adidas STORE BUT I jst REALize there s no SUCH A THING CALL adidas STORE LIKE NIKe !!!! OMFG which mean almost everyting (GOod Footbag Good shoes i have to buy online !!! and for ppl who dont paly computer then is GG NO RE )

Well considering you can get everything you need to start out in footbag at worldfootbag.com, it's not too hard to get started.

One of the best footbags is only $5. That's not too expensive.

If you are haven't used the internet before then yes it would be somewhat difficult to order your stuff, but I don't think that is the reason why footbag isn't popular because last time I checked the internet was pretty popular.

Footbag is the most inexpensive sport I know!! - after jogging...

You can find cheap footbag from every sport store and supermarket. And you don't need Rod Lavers to start freestyling. Any tennis shoes will do.

Wow all i hear is ::whine whine whine whine:: dude go get a freaking job then open up your own bank account. When i started playing footbag i worked for my dad to buy stuff online. Took me 2 days to get enough money to afford a mr. sandbag. I still dont have lavers and ive been kicking for about 5 months. And actually most footbag players dont have a bank account . Its called post in the forums asking someone else to buy the shoes or bags for you and you will send them the money via check or cash in the mail. Footbag is the most inexpensive sport considering all you have to buy is a footbag, To start it doesnt even have to be a footbag it can be a freaking hacky sack and you can learn to just kick it around with that. sheesh i dont believe it took you a year and a half to get 13 Canadian Dollars to buy a footbag.

yeah, having played:

Cricket, vollyball, australian rules football, touch football, tennis, table tennis, athletics, judo, soccer and footbag (and probably others)

I have to say that footbag is definitely the cheepest of those sports - and those are popolur sports too.

Think about this - Cricket will cost you $500 minium (most likely over $1000) if you're serious about it, plus you need a big oval and at least 23 other people. In Australia lots and lots of people play cricket - more people play cricket in my state than play footbag in the entire world and my state is the smallest state in Australia - which is a small country population wise.

I can't believe that it's a money issue that stops people from playing footbag.

Well *I* really can believe that money issue can stop people from playing footbag. It's not that it'd cost too much, but like ThisIsFate said the equipment is hard to get if you don't have a bank account and a credit card.
My parents don't trust internet stores enough that they'd allow me to use their credit card. I also hadn't any friends near me that could have lended me their credit cards. In fact, I still wouldn't have Lavers if there wouldn't be a "dealer" in Finland who could order to me with his card.

Although the money issue didn't stop me from playing because I was very interested in the sport, it really did make problems for me. I can really understand that someone, who didn't have as much will power as I had wouldn't got into this game. So I think that ThisIsFate has a point with the topic headline. Though we'll never have Lavers in the nearest stores if we don't do something about it and take the sport further.

I also really do agree, that footbag is the most inexpensive sport I've ever known. To achieve the same level as a footbag player as a runner costs pretty much the same. The Lavers + one hand-stitched 32-panel with shipping cost about 100-120€, the good running shoes cost about the same or even a bit more.

You could get some G-Units from someplace up yonder if you look. They're basically the same as Lavers, but a bit more comfy and heavy. Go to the nearest footbag festival or footbag organization to you and buy a footbag off of them.

It's not that hard and expensive to get into footbag. So, there are your options, so...stop whining!

And i have been watching ppl keep saying laver is a great shoes for this game so i really really want it but i dont know a way to get that shoes from anyway (i have enough money to get it)

Hmm, I meant starting can be easy but usually the cheap equipment that are easy to get suck. Of course you can play barefeet but learning inside kicks barefeet is quite frustrating. With better equipment practicing delays is more fun and improvement is faster.
I don't say that everybody should get Lavers and a 32 right away, I kicked for over a year with running shoes and with a pretty crappy bag (though it was a 32 and better than the bags my friends had).

Achieving the "better level" in footbag needs better equipment (good shoes and a proper bag) and these things can be a bit problematic to get.

Hopefully you'll get yourself Lavers soon, ThisIsFate (it'd be nice to know your real name). I think that Tom is your best option so far.

By the way, isn't there a "Mail Order" possibility in World Footbag Association? You could also see how does that work.

I learnt all my basics with a crotcheted bag. My first non crotcheted bag I bought at a market. I played in non lavers I bought at a shop. I played using only equipment I had bought at shops or markets for almost 18 months - I could hit a few 6 adds by this stage. I think if I probably continued to play like that I wouldn't be much worse than how I am now. I see plenty of shoes that would be ok for freestyle and often play with easy to obtain bags and can play guiltlessly with them. I've just been playing in Lavers for so long I don't want to have to re learn how to play in other shoes. Actually when I play in other shoes it doesn't make much difference either - same with bags - but if you want to perform well under pressure it's best to have a strict routine with as little variables as possible - hence I use what I'm comfortable with.
