Fear not!

Oh and here's a kind message from the legend Peter Irish:
I think it's DOPE that your tournament is sponsored by a head shop! Fuck the haters!

Hey what do people think of this.... .. Fuck routines.. (?)

How does that sound?

I kinda don't feel like going through the stress of sorting out judging and all that BS, we will still do shred and sick 1/3 and all the other shit, lets just skip all the ups and downs of routines and save them for other events.

What do you guys think?

i think its cool that you have sponsors from your community.

I attend chaos events, mainly because they have good sponsors.

Sponsors are for the spectators, not the players, and there is a good bit of data that suggest people most likely to check out a hacky sack event are not scared of marijuana.

At this stage of the game, any sponsor is a good sponsor. Anyone who is willing to give something to make an event happen is good by me. The organizers get nothing and usually end up spending their own money and a shitload of time--and frankly are usually not appreciated. We are a small sport; I think some people think we are bigger than we really are.
The public will start to see us as legit when they realize what we can do with a footbag. The way they see us right now is at events. The "bong shop" is helping footbag get out in the world. They are SUPPORTING us.
Most spectators will have no idea the event is sponsored by a head shop, and most wont care when they see what we can do. Most people on this forum have no idea the amount of work goes into running an event. It is foolish to turn down sponsorships. We cant afford to, and we cant afford to complain about people who decide to help us. Rock on Tom, I really wish I could make your event. Looks like it's gonna be great.

I really appreciate the support.

Alot of unseen work goes into making these events happen but just seeing how happy everyone winds up is way more than worth it.

Ive got enough free time to spare to pull this all together and I get to have a crazy fun time in the end anyways.

It makes me feel like Van Wilder too. :P

Judging routines IS a pain the ass. And as I've said over and over again, for me freestyle is more art than sport, and art does not need to be judged. However, and again this is just my own opinion, routines have always been much more fun to watch than shred 30 and sick 3. Those two events are sooooooooooooooo boring. But even routines have become boring because everybody has a time limit and there are still all these rules and shit so everybody does the same tricks and blah blah blah. All of this is limiting what people choose to do with the footbag. Fuck that. I want to see some full on performance art. No rules, no time limit, no winners, no losers. Just people expressing themselves however they want. I guarantee that it would be more interesting for the players and the spectators. I mean, most players I'm sure would like to have shred 30 and sick 3 still, but maybe it would be fun to try something like this out. Just for kicks  I just really think footbag can go much further, both in terms of creativity and in how it could be marketed and whatnot. The current format is ok, but only ok. Anyway, however your tourney turns out I wish I could come. Whatever you do I'm sure it will be a blast.

Okay then, Ahren you have inspired me!

We will be holding a new event at KICKASS - no rules performances!

This will be an open forum where people will get to perform whatever the hell they want! It can be routine style, artistic performance style, hein shred style, whatever!

and there will be no judging, winning or losing, it is just about sharing! :D

This is giving me so many ideas!

Footbag players are so cool and interesting and multitalented and I think this will be a wonderful way to showcase it! :D

Sweet! I hope somebody gets this on film. Jon that is a brilliant idea already. Do it! Maybe there could be some group performances too.
