Shredster gone wild: Footblog unleashed
You know I want to go...
Anyways
10-18-05 (is it the 18th?)
Things are starting to look better. My social life seems to be getting a little better, which is good, and I'm just trying to have more fun. Which is a HUGE help to footbag believe it or not.
Tonight, I went for some move records (hand catch inbetween) to see where I stood as far as skill level goes:
Paradon: 8 out of 10, flip 8/10
DLO: 10/10 and 3/10
Mirage: 10/10 and 9/10 (no hand catches)
Spinning Clipper: 9/10 and 0/10 (i can't flip spin)
Smear: 8/9 consecutive and 5/10 (hand catch flipside)
Osis: 8/10 and 8/10
Butterfly: 9/10 and 8/10
Spinning Whirl: 6/10 and 0/10
Torque: 6/10 and 3/10
Whirl: 10/10 and 6/10
PS Whirl: 7/10 and 5/10
Not too bad. I surprised myself. Its obvious flip spinning needs some loving, and general drilling of smaller moves need to be focused on. I've still not gotten a new bag yet (IN ANYONE'S OPINION, what is the best bag that I can buy?). And I still need to find some lavers.
I am getting better though, I can feel it. I recently had a 23 guiltless string, started a string off with sumo, had backside smear > butterfly > spinning pdx whirl, nearly had double blender and food processor off my foot, flip pixies are working better, flip stepping and regular stepping are getting better. Everything is starting to get better agian. I still have problems with cleaning double downs and whirls though, and I was super close to ps whirl b2b again. I think I can do it now
So yes, I will hopefully update here more often and I hope I can keep progressing like I am now, it feels good

October 27, 2005
So I think I've figured out the problems with my double downs. If I start the dex hippy (as if I were doing a butterfly/infinity), then quickly fit in the last leggy dex, the trick comes out cleaner. Not only that, but stepping is easier out of it. Before, I used to set it kind of low, but lift my leg higher than necessary to fit in TWO leggy dexes. This made the leg do more work than was necessary, and it also caused my leg to have to circle the bag faster before the bag went below my ankle. Of course though, when I went for the second dex, the bag was already near my ankle/toe area because my leg was simply too high. This caused the last dex to be the or thin. I think I've figured it out though
Not only that, but I have finally bought a new footbag (still, 32 panel juice facile dirtbag, white/blue which seemed to give me loads of luck, and seemed to delay on anything), which ran me 19 dollars. Not bad. BUT, I ALSO, bought some new lavers! The Smith Milleniums I have are "good", but they are a little too heavy and the side's are so well padded that I cannot feel the bag, nor will it stick since the padding sort of acts as a trampoline at times.
The new Lavers I bought are black/black. I didn't know they made black lavers, besides the LE's. Oh yeah, thats another thing. My first pair of lavers were leather LE's. They were good, but you could not feel the bag hit your foot. From what I've heard, the nylon mesh allows for a very good sense of feel with the bag. I'm quite excited for what the new shoes will bring me.
Also, I found out that, on my other clipper side (I hate to say flip because its not THAT bad), I rotated my shoulders away from the bag side. This caused me to not be able to see the bag well when I delayed, and it also tended to make me pull my foot the wrong way. In other words, if the bag hit my foot, my shoulders facing the other way would cause me to pull my foot out from under it, causing me to drop. Causing me to drop butterflies, paradons, etc...I think I found the problem with my flipped out clipper.
Thirdly, spinning, flip spinning is terrible, if you look at the post above. Looking at the surging tips by Jorden, I realized that, if I turn my shoulders away from the bag before I spin, I don't have to spin as far to spot the bag. Though this is contrary to what I just said in the paragraph above about my shoulders, spinning seems to be different. I still footed flip spinning clipper several times, with no luck, however, the spin felt more controlled (with the slight exception of me getting off balance and crashing into my garbage can). HAHA.
That's all for tonight.
