baby Riefer

Post by Rieferman »

I know I've fallen out of the scene to a large degree, but I have to share this:

My son, Keegan Robert Riefer, was born 9/22/05 at 1:52 a.m. 8 pounds on the dot, 20 inches long. He's awesome. And you should see his ankle crank. J/K.

(edit: Mom (Megan) is doing great.. No major complications, so we're very happy about that)

Wish Meg a Happy Birthday for me. And tell Keegan everything's going to be okay, daddy won't look that ugly all the time.

Thanks for all the congrats.. Sorry Brad. Note to future parents: I don't normally surf the web at 5:50 a.m. >>> crying baby. You take the good with the bad. The good is great. The crying ain't so great (seems my boy thinks day is night and vice versa).

Bob, those pictures are great. Keegan is beautiful. Meg looks great. You on the other hand... I know that look. The first round of pictures with me and Aydia looked exactly the same. TIRED!!!

Forget the crying. How many times have you woken up in the middle of the night to make sure he's still breathing?

Don't worry, you'll sleep plenty when he's about 35 and has his own family to worry about. Until then...Red Bull gives you wings  .

ha ha.. I know what you mean about the "make sure he's breathing" thing.. I'm petrified of SIDS and find myself pestering him all the time. Thanks for checking the pics out!! :-)

The name... Well, we wanted something Irish (Keegan means "Fiery one" in Irish.. seems appropriate considering the temper he'll likely inherit from your's truly). But I had the name since I was 20 really. I used to run a day camp and swimming lessons program back in CT where I grew up. One little 5 year old that we had in our program was named Keegan. He was by far the coolest kid I'd ever met - this is out of hundred of kids over 4 years of running the program. I don't know why but his nature and his name just stuck with me over the years.

Side note: If we had a girl, one of our top choices was Riley. It turns out that Tony Hawk has one kid named Keegan and another named Riley. Crazy coincidence right? If it's cool enough for Tony, it's a-ok with me 8)
