Hip issues since March 2004. Time off since last week. (July 13, 2005)

Turns out that my left leg is shorter than my right by 1cm. My chiropractor theorized (and it makes sense) that my pelvis has been sitting on a slant for some time now, and that cumulatively over time it has been placing more stress upon my left hip. It's the kind of thing that a regular day to day person wouldn't notice, but footbag demands a little more from my body...

I got this thing to put in my left shoe to balance out my pelvis, back, and shoulders...and my hip is already seeing improvement. The doctor says that if I keep it up with the balancer, alongside stretching and icing daily, I should be back to footbag in a little over a month (around Hackrifice).

I've been dealing with this fucking hip for long enough I think, I wouldn't complain if he said I'd be back in a year. As long as I heal.

I'm tired of worrying about whether I'm going to injure myself.

Anyway. That's that. I really hope this solves my problems, and I remain optimistic. :)

Holy crap I know exactly how you feel, except it's been a year and a half for me :(

My athletic therapist, who works out of a chiropractic firm, also said my pelvis was out of alignment. He is practicing to go into chiropractic. I do not think I like chiropractic at all, but he tugged on my leg to straighten it out. It apparently moved back by the next appointment. When I saw my millions of other REAL doctors, they said that the pelvis out of alignment thing was bullshit. I'm pretty confident it is actually my bone, now, since nothing else has helped and my competant accupuncturist said my hip flexor was looser than it felt after my 7 appointments. I'm quite sure it's the bone, but I'm not so sure about chiropractic...especially without a reliable referral.

Have you talked to a non-chiropractor, though? I would get advise about that because chiropractors can mess you the fuck up.

Oh yeah, and my masseur did work on my lower back and thighs and he works in the same firm, but I think he's also really skeptical of chiropractic and the work of my former athletic therapist. My masseur is awesome, and I should go get more $8 massage...

I finally have a specialist appointment for October...for my knees and hip. I totally didn't know this before but SURGERY IN CANADA IS FREE!!!!!!!!!! (With a referral, which I have)

I'm sorry to hear about your bad chiropractic experiences, but it's not that my pelvis is "out of alignment"...it's sitting on a slant because of my stupid mismatched legs. If I stand in front of a mirror in my briefs, I can totally see it now that I know it's there.

This thing in my shoe feels *so* good. I really think it's going to help things a lot.

I hope it helps things a lot.

I'm stoked for the potential to kick again, but not stoked enough to be really disappointed if I'm unable to after all...

I think my legs are different lengths too...which also accounts for my horrible back problems...do you have bad back pain too?

My right knee's been haywire since May of 2004, I finally had surgery done "arthroscopy" in June this year. Seems the cartilage in my knee was torn...happened after this accident in football conditioning. My doc said I'd be fine by the end of August this year.

Damn it!
Please add me back to the "Injured Players" list Erik, I sprained my right ankle (AGAIN) yesterday. :x
And I just swore never to injure again! It's a curse I'm telling you...

Last time the ankle went when I was playing soccer, this time I was practicing right side Whirl. I tramped the stalling foot with the dexing one, landed in the Stallberger-position (though bag wasn't there between) and fell beautifully on my ass and back.
The sprained ankle was the right one, i.e. the dexing one.

NOTE: I still consider footbag a very, very safe sport. My mom even dared to ask me yesterday if I'd quit shredding cause it's so dangerous (!!!). First time I got really injured because of footbag! 8O
Last week she wanted me to continue snowboarding (which obviously isn't dangerous at all <-- mom thinks) when I said I'll probably quit it because it's too expensive for me.
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HER LOGIC.

you can add me with my groin injury. i believe it to be an adductor magnus injury, likely caused by my lumbars being out of place and my pelvis having shifted putting extra strain on my groin and hip area. with all the pdx torques and pdx whirls i've been doing lately i think the twisting has moved my lower lumbars. i'll have to check with my chiropractor to see if my suspicions are correct. no idea how long i'll be out. i'm trying to get an appointment for thursday, so i might be back in footbag shape in a week. keep your fingers crossed.

erik, i dare you to go to my chiropractor! you can't denounce them untill you try them, and not some athletic therapist who wants to be one. i think that guy was out of his element.

I'm on the list :(

Lower back injury. Not very serious - I can still shred, it's just sore. I did it working on high plains drifters. Sudden movement maybe I don't know. I'll go easy till it's better.

so i got the MRI for my knee, and it says nothing is torn or looks out of whack. I dont know if im happy or unhappy to hear that... I'm happy to hear nothing serious is messed up, but it bothers me that they can't see what's wrong with my knee. I'm still injured, and I'm still miserable :?
What I wouldn't give just to be able to play just 1 hour a day...

I've been injured since Worlds 2004. Stress fracture in left shin, led to imbalance while healing, now I have patellar tendonitis in my right knee and weakened ankle muscle tissue ( due to high mobility from footbag, then taking so much time off caused deterioration ).

I'm aiming to be back in action for KICKASS in October.

I fell down the stairs with my bike and fell full weight (100lbs) on my right ankle.. Falling off the curb with a bike crushing my ankle then discovering my bike was dead.. and then my hydro was cut off. That was my day

best thing that could have happened before KICKASS.

ummmm, yeah....

i'm indefinitley off footbag. i took 1 month off from all serious physical activity (no running, jumping, footbag anything) in hopes it would heal up. no dice. played today and it's in possibly worse condition than it was 1 month ago. sigh... the footbag gods are not smiling on me right now.
