well, i wont. on one hand, helping beginners is a thing i like, on the other hand most of those that freak me out are just not netizen enough to... know the basics of forum-communication.
thats nothing i would blame them for. its just a bit nerving. (exp?)
and the perspective that they *may* get into it and keep posting and asking is enough motivation for me.
Perhaps this system is good for one reason. It acts as somewhat of a filter, only the more hardcore people will take the time to check out all the links on .org and subsequently find modified.
i can´t find anything positive in that too. it kind of surprises me, that you think that way. as far as i´ve known you, you´ve always been there for peeps to help out, so why not help the noobs become hardcore?
I gotta say I'm always disappointed when the topic of .org comes up and everyone is so fucking critical and seriously lame about it. You people simply have no idea what's up.
theres obviously quite some ppl around that don´t really know what kind and amount of work it is to make a site like this running. as if it was only the forum...
to have someone else interested AND capable of effecting some change and making some progress.
i feel bad about not being able to help out... firstly as a matter of time, secondly my skills on databased web-related programming are not really good. but still i offer my help.
IMO .org makes people beg to be able to help. If .org wants help, have a section of things they want help with, or an interest in having done, and let people express interest on topics they know how to do.
You can see how much time people have on their hands, by how often they reload modified.
since it seems to be obvious that theres help needed at .org it can´t hurt to ask for a possible contribution from your (meaning everyones) side. do we need to make a thread here pointing out what kind of help is needed on .org? the site is about footbag. and i see footbag as a community rather than as a competetive sport. so basically the site is there for us to form and make it.
i asked about being a moderator in the forum, because there were stikies from ´03 hangin everywhere and it took steve minutes to set me up. thats more or less everything i can do for .org at the moment. (besides answering on "Road Lavers" and "mr.sandballs")
in my case its time, with a lot of other (those that hang around here for hours, watching realtime-posting) it might be skills that keep´em from doing stuff, or they are not so interested in a site *they* don´t need anymore.
but this is not a .org-only problem. same thing happens with the founding of new clubs, new footbag-related sites and tourneys everywhere. few people take things into their hands, few people offer their help, most people watch and bitch about what they don´t like.
