Mr. Sandbag NOT Mr. Sandman or sandman or whatever

Post by mosher »

Freedom Footbags makes a four panel footbag called the Mr. Sandbag.

For fucks sake people, it is NOT called a sandman or a Mr Sandman or anything else! geez! It's not fucking hard to call it by it's name!

I don't frigging understand how SOOOOOO many people that have been around the sport for every different amount of time can consistently get it wrong!!

It's not like you also call 32's by other incorrect names for no reason.

"This is my new 27 that I just got in the mail."
"We shredded Daves choice 35"

See how wierd and dumb that sounds?

Just fucking call the product by it's name!

Thanks. :)

PS I don't know why this pisses me off so much so often.

Actually Tom, that pissed me off for a while too, because I didn't know if it was 'man' or 'bag', so I went along and asked the source (Jim or Daryl I can't remember who) and they said they didn't really care which name it goes by. They also told me that lately they had been refering to them as "Freedom Bags", so maybe we should all start calling them Freedom Bags instead too. I've heard a couple people on this forum use that name already, but probably unknowingly.

The "Mister" personifies the footbag so players will unconsciously personify the name.

It might be beneficial to treating it with respect

Personifying it, giving it a personality and such

Less morons in turn will 'toe up'

.........

I agree- call 'em Freedom bags, even though they offer a variety of other footbags

Lol get over it Tom, nobody cares but you :p.

The mr. sandmans and mr sandbags are identicle, both crush panne, both 4 panel, even there names the the same but for 2 letters!

If there was something significantly different between them like there is between most 32's AND they had names that were a little bit different you could expect people to get it right.

Personly, I don't care. Now i'm off to play with my mr. sandman!

Quit perpetuating the retardedness!!

THE MR SANDMAN DOESNT FUCKING EXIST!

geeeeez

You are missing the point entirely Nic, there are not two products, just one, of course the mr sandman is a 4 panel bag made of crushed panne, since it isnt a fucking mr sandman at all, it is a mr sandbag, a popular 4 panel bag made of crushed panne.

I don't normally get worked up about stuff, why did I pick this silly topic?

That's hilarious, seriously, it's one of the funniest things I've seen in a while, especially on this forum.
I hope other people get that too.

Correct me if (because) I'm wrong, but I'm under the impression that this confusion exists for a decent reason.

When the Mr. was first sold, it was called Mr. Sandman, but the eventual parting of Mestas and Genzu as business partners led to a split in the bag. Mestas, the original designer of the Mr, retained rights to the original name, while Darryl made the slight modification and continued on his merry way. These days, with FF going strong as one of the worlds major producer of freestyle footbags, and Mestas having mostly dropped from the scene (except to show up at jams to thoroughly demonstrate the art of 3-ball), the name Mr, for a footbag, refers almost exclusively to the sandbag.

Thank you for this bit of interesting information :) What year did it stop being called Mr. Sandman? I could have sworn that name is what was being tossed round back on the flipsider forum long before I found modified...

Here

There never was a Mr Sandman, it's just a common mistak, similar to using it's for a possesive adjective, or mistak to mean mistake.
