wow this is perfect timing for this thread to resurface because i just got a pair of g unit's in the mail yesterday! i'm gonna try them out this weekend
As I expected they are better than a laver. A size 9 works perfect for me. But I where a 9.5 laver. I hate how those lavers shrink. the g units feel more comfortable and you can't drop the osis. They're magic!
oh, I haven't used them yet, I was more making a joke because almost everyone who tries them is totally in love with them. But I'm sure that when broken in they wont feel as clunky, or like 'bricks'.
Mine are still breaking in and I am on session ?? 15 or so with them. They got much better after 4 or 5 sessions though. For me the clipper was better than lavers after the third session, the toes are still a bit behind my broken in lavers but I believe that will soon change.
Finished modding both the inside and the toe...strange, the 2nd shoe was missing "Layer 3" from my above list, the brown paper over the mesh.
After having modded the first shoe entirely, the 2nd shoe took maybe a quarter of the time. Didn't have to be quite as cautious. I modded the 2nd shoe in about 15-20 minutes.
The toe surface before modding was very slippery. I don't think I had a choice but to mod it. Now it's pretty sweet. Maybe I'll go outside and kick a bit in them. I'm kinda sick though, so maybe not.
*shrug*
We'll see how they play.
edit: Okay, so I just went outside, had no warmup, and I'm sick.
I hit about 50 op clippers first try, and it felt great. Then I did a load of butter > ss butter > rpt. Then I hit clipper > osis > ss clipper > osis > ss clipper > osis > ss clipper > osis.
3 strings total.
Keep in mind: I've never even hit clipper > osis > rpt!
These shoes are sick! I've shredded in them twice. They are barely heavier than my lavers by about 2 ounces. I just sent in my footage for the online comps. It's all using the g units. They are slightly bulkier than a laver but I wouldn't call them "bricks." The extra size is worth it for the extra support.
i have a pair of g's and they feel like bricks to me than lavers also , the sole is deffenetly way more grippy though and more support but there like more clunky
